Please discuss Wallet in this thread. With official google support, we don't need a variety of GW threads.
Step 1) Just download and install from google play
That's it
Google Wallet forced a reset of my secure element and the GW server stopped authenticating new SPH-L900 devices[2013.05.13]
WARNING: If you have a working google wallet you don't need to upgrade to v16.
UPDATE: Google Wallet stopped working? The xposed framework can help.
1) Download the Google Wallet R96 v16 Here
2) Follow the instructions, here, on using the Xposed framework to allow the R96 wallet apk to install.

Only question is if this is a fluke and oversight on Google's part, soon to be crippled. After all Wallet before was intentionally crippled by Google on the N2...or if it an intentional feature expansion.
Thx for the reports guys.

Did you get to where you could setup google wallet?
Did you install an earlier modified version?
Where there any error messages?
Did you get the OTA update yesterday?

Both my batteries came with sealed note 2's. Once you get secure element not responding it's not coming back unless google sends out firmware update to clear it. Which hasn't happened thus far and issue is approaching the year mark. They are quite familiar with it and insist we get our boards replaced

In my case, I had a specific message mentioning "the Secure Element is not responding", or something to that effect. If the app is not installing all the way, I would venture a *guess* that it's NOT due to a bad SE. And this is all happening when sideloading, or are you trying to install as a "normal" apk?
The Google Wallet .apk now installs like a normal app.

The .apk installs as a normal app so this is a first, in the past I could only side load the .apk and then I had to change the permissions now it installs just like a normal .apk. My specific error message is that google wallet failed to install. It would time out after 10 to 15 minutes.

I am also having this problem. Just pulled my 16GB model out of the box, took the OTA, and I am in a "need to update" loop.
Other things I've tried:
- Deleting data for the app
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the update
- Clearing cache from recovery
- Flashing the stock ROM (pre-OTA)
Even after backing off to the out of the box ROM, still in an update loop. Took the OTA again and still looping.
I'm new to the Samsung platform and NFC in general but I'm a bit aprehensive about rooting/flashing another ROM at this point because I don't want to brick the secure element. I would assume I am OK since there is no wallet profile (I can't load the app) but I am not sure if anything gets automatically created the first time you launch the app.
I'm about to call Google Wallet support to see if they can offer any advice.
---------- Post added at 03:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:49 PM ----------
Wow, Google support is quick to call back.
The Google Wallet support rep told me that the service is actually down for both the SGS3 and EVO LTE users right now. He had no ETA for when it would return.
I then asked him if I'd brick secure if I updated ROMs right now and he gave me the standard line about rooting is unsupported, etc. When I pressed him, he said the secure element should be fine since I have no profile created yet.
I don't think I'm going to trust him on that though
Can someone pm the like to the google wallet apk or the one the galaxy nexus forum is using?

Just running a stock deodexed UVALH2 Rom with the custom sammy kernel.
It installs fine, but once I open it tells me "This app is not certified to work in this country" or something along those lines.
But i guess if i change the device in build.prop, it would fix this? What should I change?

Does anyone have wallet working on the tMIUI Rom?
I think tmobile does not support it at all. When I had my nexus never worked anywhere. I called Google they told me there is no transactions made by me at all, I made so many transactions but always was denied for no reason. I though I have defective phone. when I got my gs3 I tried the modified one and had the same problem. So I gave up.
so now that we have official Google wallet I tried setting it up and it says that it failed. it asks to reset the phone and try again or be on a reliable internet connection.
I've tried it several times, power cycled multiple times and I've tried it on 3g, my home Wi-Fi (16Mbps) and my work internet (50Mbps) to no avail. some help please!
I'm rooted mc2 running synergy ROM but I've also tried it in stock odexed

A lot of people including myself have exactly the same problem. And I already had a working wallet before trying to update. And restoring the exact same older wallet that worked the very day before, now fails at exactly the same spot. Suggesting the problem is on the server side not on our phones.
Google wallet support has told multiple people, including me, that it's a known problem and they're working on it and there is no estimated time frame for a fix.
But please do call the support number found in the menu in Wallet if only to add to the number of calls so they take it seriously.

Well, I guess that shoots a hole in the hypothesis you need a stock kernel to install. I guess it's back to thinking about it some more.
At this point there are so many things that can mess with a wallet installation. Best bet is to go to stock rom and stock recovery and go from there, otherwise there are so many different variations of roms and kernels that everyone has a different story and they will all work differently.

I noticed there's a new version of the wallet app, and from the looks of it, the app itself loads on more devices now because Google is using it for more than just tap and pay. Problem is I don't know if this affects the workaround to get the old versions working (changing the build.prop and using the xposed module)

The update may not have been pushed to you yet. The latest update enables Google Wallet on all Android phones.
I would assume you could still install it with the mod/workaround just like older versions for NFC support.

The new T-Mobile SIM cards with the chips in them are only for ISIS. As far as making a "mobile" payment? No. We can only send payment via email with the app. I'm sure they have plans for more integration with other services and other payment methods in the future. It seems to me that if you can send money via email, you should be able to use NFC just like PayPal does, but I guess that's up to Google.

Tmobile atnt and verizon are backing isis, an upcoming competitor to google wallet. So they have not allowed it on our phones..
To clarify, with the new app you no longer need a patched apk or xposed mod. You do need the libs in the flashable zip. You also need to do the app setup while your build.prop is the nexus or sprint values. So some of you have to redo the setup with a modified build.prop (clear data or reinstall to redo the setup)

This worked for me as well. It didn't give me an option to "tap and pay," using the Sprint build.prop. I had cleared Wallet data and reboot but nothing. When I switched to the Galaxy Nexus build.prop, once I reset Wallet and rebooted, I was able to get wallet going, my pin was already attached to my email, which Wallet gave me an option to choose from.
From there, I was able to set-up tap and pay and pick my default payment of choice.
I also noticed a much more lenient "lock" time for Wallet: immediate, 15 minutes, 1 day. I guess if you're running a custom ROM, be sure you don't select "screen on, locked" option for NFC.
I haven't had a chance to use it, as I'm already home for the night, so I'll be testing tomorrow and reporting back.
Has any of you Wallet users been having problems before this new update? Mine suddenly stopped working at CVS and McDonalds, but I can still read and write NFC tags.
I too was missing the tap to pay section after the latest update.
To get it back I uninstalled the latest update then rebooted. Upon reboot the original Google Wallet wouldn't activate.
I then changed the build.prop to the settings in the thread on how to initially install it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2383251
ro.product.device=maguro
ro.product.model=Galaxy Nexus
ro.product.name=yakju
I rebooted and Google Wallet activated. I then went into the play store and let Google Wallet update itself. I ran it to verify that I could see the tap to pay section then modified the build.prop back to the defaults for the Tmobile SG4. and rebooted.
ro.product.device=jfltetmo
ro.product.model=SGH-M919
ro.product.name=jfltetmo
After this reboot I can still see the tap to pay in the latest version from the app store. I will test it at a 7-11 where I have used Google Wallet previously tomorrow but am hopeful it will work properly.
Hope this helps someone else.
