Help! - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

So, I need to take my phone back to the store as its acting up. the call function doesnt work all the time. I used triangle away ver 2.60 twice and it wont reset to 0. I figured that since it said it could do this while still rooted that if I unrooted it would reset it to 0. nope. I am now unrooted and it says count of 1, also I am now getting chameleon errors and it wants to activate every time I turn the phone back on. I used odin to unroot, I followed qbkings video so I wouldnt screw anything up. I dont know what to do and am running out time as I will be going on the road with my husband soon and wont have access to a pc or be able to return my phone. If it makes a difference I used the toolkit to root and had twrp. I was running jellybomb 12.1 rom. I reverted back to stock to triangle away and unroot. I wiped everything 3 times.
update: i got rid of the activation and chameleon errors by installing the chameleon apk. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2062499 So now how do I get the counter to reset to 0! I was using twrp before and that was a no no. I rerooted just stock no recovery, but it still wont reset to 0! I used an older version too thinking it might be it, 2.15 but it still wont reset.
you have to use cf auto root not the toolkit or it wont reset to 0. all fixed!

[Q] Went back to stock, unrooted, can't update ROM

Like the title says, I went back to stock and unrooted my phone. I got a message from Tmo today that an update for my phone was available, but on trying to update, the phone just sits at the "checking for software updates" screen and nothing happens. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Kies.
Yep use Kies to update. Worked perfectly and then just reroot.
Have your tried going into stock recovery (after unrooting) and doing a factory restore? If the option is present, you may alsi want to wipe your cache. Hope that helps.
I am having the same issue as OP. Was rooted by CF auto root plus triangle away (deleted after use). Always stock ROM/recovery. Got OTA update notice so delayed it so I could unroot first. Checked temporary unroot option in SuperSU, no luck. Chose permanent unroot, no luck. Deleted SuperSU, no luck. Ti Backup confirms not rooted. Kies doesn't show update available and selecting upgrade through Kies tools menu fails as well. Do I need to clear my cache (which I have never done). Don't want to wipe and start over. Need to learn how to do this for future updates. I thought my basic root method would allow updates with little effort. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance.
I wiped cache and still no luck. It tells me update available and when I say install it just sits on checking for updates...
Hey OP, did Kies work for you? I installed the most recent Kies and it wont even finish connecting with my phone. God I hate being a noob at this stuff. I don't have a clue why this update wont happen or Kies wont connect. Im using the OEM USB cable. Everything says official and nothing custom. Somehow, T-mobile update knows I was once rooted or something. WTF
I should of tried OTA rootkeeper but too late now.
Any advice??
Kies finally worked. No idea what was different from previous 10 attempts...
Any suggestions how to go from TWRP back to stock recovery and keep root? I can't use the Toolkit since it's missing the stock recovery Tar file...

[Q] no network/MC2 stock with counter reset not working

Hello - so for some background. Was on stock MC2, rooted with Skippen's Samsung Galaxy toolkit which is excellent, and was running Jellybomb 20.1
Everything was fine for about a week but about 4 days ago my network began to drop and experiences a few random reboots. Only thing I was up to on the phone all week was Play store games and usually site browsing.
Now I've tried to use Billard's MC2 Note 2 stock restore with Counter reset and the only off thing I am experiencing is Status remaining modified sort of the most important part if I am to use warranty or head into a store right?
Yes, I made sure to wipe dalvik/data and factory reset. Yes, I have tried to restore backup rooting/flashing rom. I guess the biggest thing that leaves me puzzled is nearly everyone has had success with Billard's restore to stock w/ counter reset as long as the entire process completed. Literally everything is running fine after I run it except for the "preparing for network" thing and status showing as modified under the about menu in settings. I sincerely hope there is some simply answer thrown back in my face for this post lol ;P

Reflash a custom recovery. Be sure to wipe but flash one of the older zips. I recommend trying ljc. I don't see why the status didn't reset tho. I never had that problem and I've flash these zips a lot.

Will do. I'm actually travelling at the moment so responses will be slow but I will update if the counter resets with an older zip. I have a nagging feeling the real culprit behind my problems may be the random reboots leading into being stuck in "Preparing network....". If the issue persists I might have to backtrack and figure out what was going on around that time. The status remaining unchanged is definitely odd since not a single other soul has reported this problem once the process completes.
Thanks a bunch for responding Billard!
**update** Re-rooted with toolkit, wiped, flashed LJC version with everything going smoothly.
Continues to show Modified under status. However, I DID get my network and everything back. It weirds me out that MC2 wouldn't work despite the fact that I received this phone as stock MC2. Should I see if MA7 will give me Samsung Official? Please advise~ and thank you

[Q] Phone came unrooted

I was experiencing a lot of issues within the last few days so I decided to wipe my phone and reinstall the rom. I've been on the 7/11 build of CM 10.1 since it came out. The phone has been a little wonky lately out of the and wouldn't reboot or go into recovery. I managed to get into Recovery through the ROM Manager app. The power button seemed to be a little touchy. I did a factory reset and wiped the cache. Before I could do anything further it rebooted and brought me into the Rom fresh, making me log into my google account and set up the phone from the start.
The issue now is that the phone is not showing as being rooted anymore. Is there something I can do to get root back from this point? Do I just go back into Odin and root as if I’m doing it for the first time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

not sure how you could lose root on CM 10.1 but you could use odin to flash back to stock and start over, or you can just flash the .tar file for the 2.6.1.0 TWRP recovery in odin and that will root your phone with out having to go all the way back to stock.
Heres the link for TWRP 2.6.1.0 http://goo.im/devs/OpenRecovery/hercules/openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-hercules.tar
hey i had the same thing happen to two t989's that i own, one i had flashed the newest chameleon os on it, the other I had revolt.Basically I tried numerous ways to fix it, even downloading and flashing superuser zip again. thing is, I still had access to custom recovery, but no root. Nothing worked, I ended up finding out that the super user program was the issue. Try downloading this one, from this link, and flashing thru the recovery, it will work. No need to reflash anything else.

Go on dev options and set root access to apps and adb

GS3 wont flash recovery or root

Hey guys, I've been using this site for a while (Thanks for all the info...seriously), but I've never actually posted a problem till now.
I needed to take my phone back to sprint for reasons so I wanted to unroot and reset flash count. Looked online for anything new (honestly not going with my normal methods ****ed me).
mdf_w_count_reset.zip
Ended up there, one file, from a youtube link I can't post, opened it, resets flash count, recovery and stock rom. Sounds cool right?! Would be if those meddling kids and their stupid dog didn't get in the way....
So it worked like it was supposed to ACCEPT the fact that when I tried to re-root my phone, it says LOL NOPE. Odin says it went through, detects my phone properly, says it succeeded, but I go to recovery and it's stock, flash count rises by one. should have done this before my flash count went past one but I didn't and we are here now.
Honestly I need to just reset my flash at this point, stock rom I can live with for a while till I get something else figured out but, hey, not gonna turn down any options.
Thanks!

Help! Stuck in boot loop after towelroot on stock 4.4.2 Note 3

I bought a new T-mobile Note 3 SM-N900T in mid April, and it came with 4.4.2. I haven't rooted, flashed, or done anything until tonight when I just tried towelroot. I downloaded it, installed, clicked make it ra1n, and it looked like it went fine, said I was rooted. I fired up titanium backup and it confirmed root. Great!
Or so I thought. I pulled the battery to put my sd card back in, powered it up, and now it's stuck in a boot loop. It'll boot up and I'll have anywhere from 5-15 seconds from the time the home screen/launcher comes up before it freezes. Sometimes it just freezes, sometimes it says "Process system isn't responding. Do you want do close it? Wait OK".
I haven't wiped or done a hard reset yet; obviously would prefer not to, but mostly I just want to get my phone working again. What should I do?
Edit: I went ahead and did a hard reset and the boot loop is fixed. I also still have root.
Edit 2: I think I'm going to throw up! I just spent hours getting everything set back up and all of a sudden after launching LBE Privacy Guard the boot-looping started again! ARGH! I have to hard reset and start over again, and I have work in a few hrs... :crying:
What should I do???
I wiped the cache and that didn't fix it. So I went ahead and did a hard reset, and the boot loop is fixed. Also, it seems I'm still rooted; at least Titanium Backup says I am.
I was wrong. After the last few hours of getting everything set back up I was almost done, I fired up LBE Privacy Guard, and suddenly it freaked out and the boot-looping started back up! What now!?
Perhaps lbe privacy guard is busted..... considering you keep launching it and having issues every time you do.

LBE privacy guard only caused it to go into boot loops once: just after I got everything reinstalled and setup from the first hard reset. Nevertheless, I'm going to avoid it for awhile, as I can't afford to stay up all night before work again...
I haven't been able to find any other people that've had this type of issue with towelroot; am I bad at searching, or just really unlucky?
Ditch the LBE privacy app
ok bud so take another deep breath and relax. there are two things that you can do. One will fix your issue. First step is to download the stock firmware from sammobile and flash via odin.
if that fixes your issue, next time you root do not try towelroot. it's not really meant for the n3. i suggest either cf auto root or you can do what i have always done and flash twrp via odin and then flash the latest supersu.zip from twrp.
if that does not fix your issue and your phone is still "bricklooping" I suggest you go to this thread and download the brickloop recovery file and flash it to have your phone back
