Hmmm. What recovery do you have?, are you s-on or s-off?
Have you flashed any mods recently?

It is my uncle phone, and it wasn't flash anything ever, it has stock android. when I write recovery i meant menu (with three android on bottom) that you enter by pressing power and volume down. Is there any way to (s-off) root, flash recovery and rom from that menu (with three android on bottom), because in android debugging isn't turn on :/
thx for help

ok that screen is called the bootloader.
can you tell me its output please.
like does it say s-on
hboot version?~~~?~?
radio version???~?~?
is the phone network unlocked? can he use any simcard?
if it was locked originally can you tell me what carrier it was locked to please.
i dont believe you can s-off the device by software without having a working rom but there is a device called an xtc clip that can remove the security from the bootloader without the rom working. but it costs.
what we can do though is if you can get me this information we can hopefully run a program called a RUU, (which stands for rom update utility) and this will reinstall the stock software and hopefully fix your issue.
on an alternitive note, you said that you know the phone boots as you can call it. does the touch screen still work? can you answer the call or is it dead? if so we may be able to walk you through turning on usb debugging "blindly"

here is data:
s-on
hboot version 1.01.0001
radio version 3.35.20.10
today my colleague disassemble mainboard form screen and after 2h put them back together and now screen is working , he told me that electrostatic voltage could damage screen (i think that screen is probably dying, I hope that it isn't mainboard). I didn't see what he was doing so i don't know if he did something else, anyway phone is now working, have to see for how long.
thx for your help

hi, just update about my problem and solution.
After that "repair" screen would work for couple days and after that it wouldn't turn on again, so I would have to take out battery for hour and it would work again day or two. I replaced screen with one from ebay (10$), and now phone is working normal for almost two weeks.
hope this will help someone with same problem.

Never heard of this issue. If i got u correctly, screen goes black with soft keys flashing means screen displays as if opened a black picture. Hboot options inaccessible. Was the os getting booted or not. Check it by making a call to wildfire from other phone. Is ur phone s-off by xtc clip.
Anyway cannot tell u the solution. But coming to the possible ways, u have RUU method and PC49IMG method. And warning, donot upgrade to the official froyo if u r not on it.

sir im using cm7 and my phone is rooted i remember the last time i used my phone is i download some apps in the market then somebody calls me when i pick up my phone its already a black screen and the 4 buttons on the bottom are just flashing so try to pull out the battery it doest open anymore...
and sometimes i can access on hboot but my phone usually hangs...pls help
Just to be clear: your phone gives the same symptoms (black screen, flashing input buttons) in hboot mode?
sometimes i cant access on hboot i should try so many time if some i got luck i got an access it usually hang help....
I suppose you have preformd a nandroid backup somewere in the proces of you installing CM7 and you have Clockworkmod recovery due to the rooting process by unrEVOked.
Try as many times as you need to boot into hboot, and once there, navigate to recovery. In there you can put back a nandroid backup. In my oppinion, that should fix it.
If you no longer have a nandroid backup, just "reinstall" CM7 trough this recovery as you did the first time.
Erwin
I guess if his phone was s-off, then something error might have happened to the partitions which might be causing the issue. Because problem with access to hboot menu is not related to operating system.
And maybe if what I thought is correct, then an eclair RUU might be the solution (some solution which overwrites all the partitions). But nothing sure.

Very true, but shouldn't the problem (inaccessable bootloader) manifest itself every time, and not most of the time?
Just brainstorming here, not saying right or wrong ;-) in contrary, I think its a good thing to try!
dare i say could it be a hardware issue?
last night i got luck to wipe all the data and my phone went back to a stock cm7 2.3 but after several min my phone turns blank again now i cant boot on hboot if i got lucky to enter hboot it hangs again

what do u mean by stock cm7.
As im not using custom roms, this seems something strange and confusing to me.
AFAIK, wiping the data clears the.custom rom.
And u forgot to tell ur hboot version and secure flag (see those in hboot menu). Whats ur hboot version now, and have u used xtc clip to make s-off.
[anyway i think there will be no harm on flashing merely the RUU. So, i think u can make a try of eclair RUU of ur region which has the Radio_13.53.55.24H_3.35.19.25 might be a hope]

Not sure of anything now. As u said u havent used xtc clip, ur phone will be s-on.
U said that when u faced the issue for the first time, ur phone screen went black on incoming call. That means there os is booted. If it is still the case, I think u can go with RUU, but not sure whether it works or not.
And RUU is an exe file to be run on windows pc connecting the wildfire in charge only mode. It is used for flashing the os. If u want to make a try with the ruu, u can download it from
www.shipped-roms.org/shipped/Buzz/
There u should download ur region eclair ruu which has radio version (u can see radio version in the file name of ruu) same as I mentioned in above post. And pls donot download froyo ruu.

do i still need to install htc sync????
Htc sync is not necessary if u have installed htc usb driver which will be 13 MB size. Anyone from those two will be needed.
And as there is no phillipenes ruu, that wwe ruu might be the option for u.

Recently switching from a iPhone to HTC One X I was absolutely loving my new phone for almost a month. But all of a sudden yesterday the screen stops working. It simply does not display anything. But the touch screen still works, and phone works too(if i swipe i can hear the phone unlocking, press home it vibrates, etc, basically phone is working, but display is not). This is not the first time this happened. It happened 3 days ago for about an hour and the screen started working by itself after the hour. But after the last time the screen stopped working it hasn't come back on(i was hoping it would, but it has been 2 days). Also i feel like I should mention this, both times the screen stopped working i was using Nes.Emu(a NES emulator). The screen didn't turn off suddenly, at first the screen stopped responding, stuck at like an image. I noticed the phone was working even then, but the screen just wasn't responding. After that i locked the phone and the display went dark, and hasn't come back on since. I even boot into bootloader and it still wasn't working.
Now i wont get any warranty as i unlocked the bootloader thus voiding the warranty. Currently have ARHD 6.1.0 rom on it. I have no idea what to do. I was guessing somehow going back to stock, then relocking the bootloader before taking it to HTC, dunno if they'll do it under warranty. But thats not my biggest issue. I am travelling South Asia this summer(bought the phone from India), and basically dont know how the hell do i even give it to an HTC support center, cause I'll have to come back to the support center to pick it backup and i wont be in any place that long.
Tried holding the power button for 30 seconds?
try running an RUU that matches your cid/sw version (1.29.XXX.11).
Look here for the RUU that matches your sw version. Don't forget to flash stock recovery and run fastboot OEM lock before you run the RUU.

Will running an RUU that matches my CID return me to stock firmware? I thought that only updated the Hboot or something?
Yeah, it also re-locks the phone.
Its worth a try. Can you not even get the bootloader up? Poer button + vol down?

Yeah, I assume i can get into bootloader since the rest of the phones works fine. But the screen does not even work in bootloader. I will try doing what you suggested, but kind of hard without the screen.
It sounds like Hardware fault rather than software.

Yep, but i want to be on default software with a relocked bootloader before i send it to HTC. Since you're a Docomo user i'll assume you're from India. I was wondering if you have any idea about HTCs service in India? How much time do you think will it take them to sort this issue out?
Can't you use recovery mode and restore a backup?
Before you start with the emulator again you could test for a few days without it and see how your screen responses?
Other things you can try is flash a different rom?
Even return to stock is an option to investigate?
Reading your story it doesn't look like a hardware failure but more as a software bugger.
Just a taught.

Yes, it returns the phone to the stock state. RELOCK before using the RUU. Install the correct stock recovery before relock. A link to stock recoveries are in the cwm thread.

Thanks for the offer iTeeXDA, but i managed to get back to stock(using nandroid backup). The issue seemed to be that i had named the folder of the backup rom(no spaces).
Now what should i do next? I imagine i should be reflashing stock recovery right? Then relocking the bootloader? Will i run into issues cause i came back to stock from a nandroid backup?
EDIT:So, ok, i went back to stock recovery and relocked bootloader. Phone keeps booting into hboot after i relock bootloader. I've unlocked the bootloader again and the phone seems to have booted
If u can't see anything then HTC people also won't be able to see anything..so go ahead with the phone as it is..n as somebody has already told u that they will be replacing your board the firmware is gonna be gone anyways..I guess I am correct here ...

Bricked HTC Desire

Hi guys,
My bro has been flashing roms quite oftenly, I dont know how he does it. I dont use a HTC Desire.
Today he came to me and told me to help him fix up because he couldnt boot to anything.
The phone stay on the White HTC Screen only.
After reading up XDA, I booted into fastboot (Back Button + Power) and tried to Flash HTC Bravo RUU for WEE_Asia.
I used to flash WinMo devices so I thought it should be any problem.
When flashing, everything was fine until towards the end an error saying the package is lost or incomplete. and the RUU updater just leaves me without any choice to revert or what. I didnt not get a screenshot as well.
Now the device is bricked. Power button, anything doesnt work at all, blank screen. yeah..
So any suggestions or tricks to unbrick it?
ADD: Is it this first case of a REAL BRICK HTC Desire? (because I see alot people posting about 'brick' devices but its just merely some software problem)
because as far as I know its quite impossible to brick a device, well and error during RUU update can brick the device, but the error appears in the end of the RUU so Im still kinda unsure what problem is it.
pull the battery out for a min then put back in and hold volume down + power. what happens? does it vibrate or anything?
Sent from my HTC Desire
nope. no vibration at all.
Could it be a battery problem?
because I always see him charging daily and his battery always goes down till 40% or so even in airplane mode!
would it have been the battery problem that caused the RUU error?

Unfortunately, warranty was over last month..
So is this the case of broken bootloader?

I saw some relevant questions in this thread and decided this is the right place for my question. Here are the symptoms of what looks like my bricked HTC Desire It happened to me after I ran (RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783) RUU on my S-OFF phone:
- Take the battery in/out, press power button, just a quick vibrate and nothing happens
- Tried to boot in fastbood (Power button + Volume -) nothing happens
- Plug in the charger - LED is ON (orange)
- The msg on the PC app for RUU was that there was an err during the "upgrade", which was a downgrade attempt, caused by the fact that my phone software was not the right one for that RRU.. or smth like that. Suggesting I go and download the right version.
My question is... is my HTC Desire officially bricked or are we talking about some of those "soft bricks" you guys are referring to with hope for a restore.
Thx outfront, guys.

Thx for the reply! Doesn't budge.
I kept the battery out for a few mins and held down the buttons for a while as well. Screen doesn't turn on. I'm guessing the vibration and LED are good signs?
I've been at it for a while. As far as I got looking for answers throughout the forum... I used ADB app on windows to run command "adb devices" and got a
HT-some-code/serial....................recovery.
So I'm guessing the phone is stuck in recovery. Wonder if I can turn S-ON and try to re-run RUU from this adb thingy.
Ok, I unbricked it For all people that will land here, my (USB) brick occured after running the wrong RUU on a S-OFF Desire.
I started down the list of HTC Desire shipped RUUs from the list of shipped RUU (can't post link) and the phone got back to its out-of-the box state after I hit the right one. Worked for me.

I tried running the command "adb devices" when my bricked Desire is connected on my PC (pressed down the two buttons as well before connecting it) but it says "List of devices attached" without any serial you said that there was.
I don't know how does the "recovery" on bricked phone works. I did my test: remove and reinsert battery and connect phone. LED comes out. (means it isn't permanently bricked) press down "volume down" and "power" buttons and LED switched off. Tells me that recovery must have been booted.
Any suggestions? :crying:
EDIT:
Okay I followed the RUU method (post just above this). I remembered which RUU I am supposed to install (technically RUU_Bravo_Vodafone_TR_1.30.184.3_Radio_32.41.00.32U_4.08.00.09_release_139001_signed.exe). Unfortunately I received the ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR, which is sad. hurr
Before this bricking incident happened, I did an update to get android v. 2.3.4. Then I want to revert back its hboot from 1.02 to 0.9x using this method. Somehow, after the third step I still have S-OFF, HBOOT 6.93.1002, which is frustrating. That's where I went to alpharev and tried my luck. Nothing gets the advantage. I found another topic which then I found this rooting topic. That's where I began dumb and installing the RUU I want to install (which is the asia version, since my phone's RUU should be from Asia).
And that's how I got my phone bricked.
ugh

Unable to get into bootloader or recovery mode, stuck at white HTC logo screen

Hey everyone,
I have read the various topics with a similar title but none helped.
Here is my problem, I bought a used HTC Desire on eBay. It booted just fine on the first start, then I did a factory reset (from within the Android system menu).
Since then, I'm stuck at the white screen with the green HTC logo. I have tried to get into bootloader mode by removing the battery, holding vol down and power, but it just goes straight to the white screen again.
Also connected the phone to the pc, but adb isn't picking up anything...
Any ideas?
Try Power+Back button.
just got one step further:
I can get into fastboot mode with BACK + POWER. But volume keys doesn't work, is that a known issue that I can solve somehow?

It's official HTC Firmware. Your phone will boot after this.
So:
1. Install HTC Sync.
2. Download and extract the RUU.exe from the zip (It's somewhere in there)
3. Run the exe while you connect your phone in fastboot (Power+Back)
4. Wait for it to install
5. Boot

Thanks for the advice, I downloaded the 2.3 RUU and it starts the process, sais
rebooting to bootloader
erasing data
sending...
and after ~30 seconds it just shows me a screen that sais "ERROR_UNKNOWN"
On the phone I see a black screen with a silver HTC logo during the process and when I unplug the USB cable after the error it shows the hboot screen that now sais "update failed".
right before the error is shown it display "updating signature"

It only says "Error_Unknown"? No error number, anything?
Weird.
This may be the reason:
Now, that may not sound too bad to some of you, but there's more: the 2.3 RUU update is limited regionally, as well. It's not available to users in Germany, North America, South America, South Korea, or Japan.

You live in Germany, right?
Use this guide then:
Section 2, S-on
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
yes I am in Germany,
made some progress (or not?)
I noticed that the device was "unlocked", so I did "fastboot oem lock" and it was "relocked".
Then the RUU update went through - nearly. At the very end if failed again and now I am stuck at a black screen with the silver HTC logo and triangles in every corner.
AW: Unable to get into bootloader or recovery mode, stuck at white HTC logo screen

wtf... tried again flashing the 2.3 RUU, this time it worked, YEAY
But now I have a bootloop, device starts, vibrates 1 time, waits for 3 seconds, and then vibrates 7 times. And restarts...
Ok. Tests are done.
According to the screenshot above and the 7 vibrations, you have a radio brick. It's a brick that can hardly be overcome.
The only solution is flashing the RUU and hoping that the phone will eventually boot.
That's why I don't buy second hand phones.
This thread might help:

freecer did it, was able to flash the 2.3 RUU again successfully. But now I'm back at the bootloop, but now, it simply does vibrate once (no more 7 vibrations) and reboots after some seconds.
So what can I do now? RUU flashed successfully, I'm running out of ideas...
and again the freezer did it, put it in, normally started via POWER button, it booted right through into Android.
Well, let's see if it keeps running now or if this overheating issue also exists in normal operation mode...
Thanks so much for you help so far, the freezer hint saved this device and hopefully will make my gf very happy tomorrow
Hold on I thought it was some pvt1 devices that had overheating issues.
Thought it was fixed on your newer ones. Then again I've never had a problem with my pvt1 desire flashed both hboot and find countless times.

it is a PCT3 device.
but the overheating-reboot issue is rendering it useless. I can use it just fine outside (-2° currently) but as soon as I'm inside, boot-loop...
Anything I can do from a hardware perspective to fix that? Sending it in for repair/replacement is not an option, it's simply not worth the cost.
do you think installing a custom rom of any kind might help?

It's a motherboard fault. If you don't send it to repair, you just got yourself an "Ice-Phone", or a very complex paper holder.
i think a custom rom would help a small bit, like the rom in abaaaabbbb63 sig (mildwild redux) because its small and lite unlike a sense rom. therefor it mite not overheat as quick or as often. but thats only a guess. the only dodgy thing is trying to get ur phone s-off or rooted because if ur phone overheats in the middle of the s-off/rooting progress u could brick ur phone. plus charge ur phone using ur computer coz it uses less power and the phone does'nt heat up as much as plugging into the wall.

[Q] HTC One X keeps restarting after a couple of seconds on lock screen

Hi Guys,
I turned my One X off on Saturday morning and put it in the sock drawer. Turned it back on this morning and it wont go past the lock screen before restarting. I can set it in to recovery mode no problem, just can't get any further than lockscreen.
It's Vodafone locked, running stock Voda rom, locked Boootloader. Haven't messed around with this one! Any way to get this working without losing all the content on it? It's all backed up to the cloud except my movies and music and I don't want to lose them!
If not, how can I get it working again?
Many thanks,
Dan

its a common fault for any device that runs off a battery, if there is only a little charge it will start up and get so far then switch off again. try and charge it, if it isn't the problem then at least that is ruled out. but really, if all you did was put it in a drawer there can't be much else wrong with it, unless the the sock monster jumped up and down on it then ran it under the tap when you wern't looking
Ahh, it wasn't turning off, it was continuously rebooting. Its been on charge for quite a while now and its still doing the same.
What's the next step?

If it wont stay off try this :- boot into bootloader then press power button until you see fastboot usb screen then use volume keys to move down to "power down".
Once it is off you need to plug it into a wall charger, not pc, and leave it for at least Two hours, preferably Three or Four hours. if it wont stay off just leave it looping and plugged into the wall charger
No no, the first issue wasn't that it wouldn't turn on due to low battery, it was that it continuously rebooted. Its off and charging now, has been for a good 4 hours. Still not staying on when it gets to lock screen, just continuously rebooting!

You have two option unlock bootlader and flash custom recovery and after this you can mount the sd card from the custom recovery and backup your sd card. After this flash again stock recovery and do factory reset or try from stock recovery factory reset and cross finger don't lose any information on sd card! For stock when you are in bootlader choice RECOVERY and when you are in stock recovery push volume up + power button. That is the way!!!
Can you give me the link to a programme to do this? Absolute novice! Thank you

Novice and can't read either. your problem is not unique and can be found in many threads if you search. in your picture there is a line in red "factory reset" use the volume key to move down to it then press the power button to start the process, then plug the phone in to the wall like I told you earlier and leave it for hours
I'm just looking for some help mate, no need to be like that. You haven't given that advice at all, and without having the correct programme on my computer to do this, I can't really just factory reset.

What program do you need this is just factory reset? Program for what do you need explain me like I am an IDIOT.
Just try it with FACTORY RESET! You dont need any program for this!
you are correct in saying I didn't give that advice, but @Thant did, which is why I said you couldn't read. This is a developers site, by developers for developers, you are a guest, nobody is under any obligation to help you but they do because they are nice but when it comes to trying to help someone who is not taking a blind bit of notice it gets a little annoying. You have all of the answers you need in the previous posts, pay attention to them and look at the picture that YOU provided. in red it says factory reset, use it.
And judging by the state of the screen I wouldn't be surprised if it is a hardware fault.
Thanks for your advice guys. I now have a one x which is working but all the data has been wiped.
I'm sure you two would have started out as novices. The way you spoke to me was unnecessary.

you try repeating yourself about 20 times a day and see if you get annoyed. there is a search button for a reason, all the information you needed was already there, and even when we repeated it you still took no notice so we think it was necessary. thats the end of it!!
Help
Please, I beg the experts for help!
I read all this stuff but I can´t solve my problem. I started used my HTC One X yesterday (it´s a brand new one). After installing some programs from Google Play, the system asked me if I want to make an upgrade from Android (I don´t remember wich version). I agreed with it, the system made a huge download and restarted the equipment. After this, the cell phone keeps in a loop, it starts in the white inicial frame (HTC - quietly brilliant) and boot, all day long...
I tried to make a reboot, factory reset, all the things in the root menu (power + vol down), but the problem remains.
My cell phone´s menu show these informations:
*** LOCKED ***
ENDEAVORU XE SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-11111111
HBOOT-1.12.0000
CPLD-None
MICROP-None
RADIO-2.1204.135.20
eMMC-bootmode: disabled
CPU-bootmode: disabled
HW Secure boot: disabled
MODEM PATH: OFF

Does anybody could please help me?

Similar problem!!
Hi,
I bought my One X 1 yr ago. Everything was fine until i updated to sense 5. After about a 3-4 weeks after the update my One X started to continuously reboot. This was the first time. The looping lasted for about 5 min and i felt relieved. After about a month later, same thing repeated and it lasted for abt 2 hrs. Yesterday again it started crazily restarting and it has not stopped until the battery ran out. When i plug in the charger, it again goes to restarting. It is not stopping at all. Also when it restarts it lasts only for 2 secs and i dont get the oppurtunity to simulate battery removal or reset the phone. I'm fed up. !!!PLZ HELP!!!
