How to Manually Update to MA6 - Video - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Just a quick video I threw together that should help people out. This will show you how to manually install the MA6 update.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDzUT716u58
If stock rooted with a custom recovery, you will need a stock recovery. Here is how to install that:

If you want to root after the MA6 update, here is how to:

Nice to see you on this side of the world again

No way to do so running a custom rom. You'd have to go back to stock LJ7 and update.
I'd just find the MA6 modem freeza posted and flash that

Qbking thanks for all you do in the electronic world until last year I never knew you could do so much more with a phone when you root mod and rom and I always ran stock until I had my og evo from there I went epic , epic touch , and now the s3 and if it wasn't for you and your videos I'd still be stuck in the stock world lol anyways thanks again
Oh on a side note was this 4.1.2 a minor update correct ? If so when or if a next official update comes out do you think it will be a major one ? And would it be 4.1.?? Or 4.2.?

Should I root HC or wait for ICS?

I've had my a100 for about three weeks now. At first I didn't see a need to root but I find the empty space on my screen such a waste where I could fill with icons and widgets. And then there's the bloatware - ugh!
My question is should I just root HC or wait for a stable ICS Rom? I really don't want to keep flashing back and forth either. Just wanted some opinions, thank you.

.....and what exactly are you waiting on? Just go ahead and root with this very easy method here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472521
It appears that ZeroNull has posted the official ICS rom for the a100 here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25130266&postcount=423
I have been going back and forth between HC and ICS and now I am on my HC waiting for a "stable ICS rom." Hopefully what has been posted in the 2nd link will be the ICS fixes i've been waiting for (touch screen fixes...compatibility etc)...

Hello,
Thanks for all the good info from. Everyone! I am currently rooted with HC 3.2 does anyone know if when the ics update is released next week, if people that are rooted will have any issues getting the ota update? I'm guessing no, but if anyone has an definitive answer that would be great.
Thanks for the help and I have not flashed anything only rooted that's all thru terminal emuator method sorry forgot exact name. Been rooted for about four months right around when the leak was released was when I rooted, but decided to wait for the officialupdate to get the Acer ring and have no problems.
Thanks for the help you all are da sh!t

If youre just rooted then you should still see the update. So long as you dont change anything like build.prop, or remove any OEM files you should be good to go with the OTA. Also download OTA Rootkeep app and protect root now. Once you do the OTA just restore root via the app and thats it. No need to reroot with any other method.
ICS will not resolve your problem with the empty spaces from both sides (landscape mode).
Rooting may be.If you change the DPI in build.prop you can fill the whole screen but then in portrait mode you will not be able to see everything.Actually this spaces are still empty in portrait mode but are up and down.

Sooner or later will be able to nab the new radios.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Not that I have the Verizon Nexus .. but yeah its coming out... it was updated and it seems another user got the update as well. =]
- Galaxy Nexus
I hope someone can post the radios as flashable zip. Gotta be patient hehe
I guess if u clear the Google services framework within app and press check for update... perhaps it'll work =]… if it doesn't the first time.. try 10 more times. It will say last checked on 1969 ... disregard that
- Galaxy Nexus
Looks like it is rolling out (or at least starting to).
For anyone who has received it, would you mind looking in the log files in /cache/recovery and try and find the name of the update file (ending in .zip) please and post it in this thread. Thanks.
Cannot wait for the new radios. FC instead of FA. Wonder what they did?

Just reading through the comments on the article, seems a couple people are getting (Much) better signal strength. Whatever they did it seems to have worked! (Maybe they just poured butter all over the radio code?)

Potentially! Are they comparing them to the leaked 4.0.4 radios? Doubtful since they upgraded and were presumably on 4.0.2 lol.
Either way, someone needs to find the images and make a flashable zip. I need something to do at work, nah mean?
So if I am running Liquid (4.04) will all I have to do is flash the new radios once they are available?
Sorry for the noob question. Just got my nexus last week and new to the flashing scene.

Yes. Radios are compatible with pretty much anything. They are separate from the rom, and do not even "stick" with a nandroid.
OK I'm running the leaked 4.0.4... I'll have to revert to 4.0.2 yo receive this correct? And I installed Franco's kernel last night. Anywhere I can pick up stock kernel?

Just use a tool like Wugs or the GNEX toolkit to relock and unroot.

I am biting the bullet and flashing back to stock to try and capture it.
Don't hold your breath of course. The only reason I put any merit in this is one of the radio versions is listed in AOSP.
i actually love my rooted 4.0.4 and my hybrid radio... like others id be more interested in the actual OFFICAL radio...

No, you are right -- you can't receive the update with a custom ROM, but a rooted stock ROM is perfectly fine. Bootloader lock/unlock makes no difference.

[Q] Epic 4g update Troubles

Long Time Reader first time Poster !
I have rooted my phone and flashed my phone a bunch of times. All of them went great. When The gingerbread OTA came through I flashed back to the Orginal Build Number of Sph-d700 Eclair.dI18 and then updated the phone through the OTA froyo and then to the gingerbread. Then the phone was rooted and all was good for months. Then an update came for the phone that Could not be done because of the root.
Finally after months of saying no to the message of installing an update I figure , I ll flash the phone back to the Eclair with the tar and pit file I have always used and then update it fully just using the wifi.
Heres the problem. Everything went great and I am using the orginal Eclair again but no update has been sent to the phone for 3 days when normally it was instant ?
So I look through the forums for the Froyo update.zip and every link I find is Dead ?
Any thoughts on the next step ? any help would be amazing, Thanks

Use this video and youll be on the latest build of gingerbread : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTQ6Rn0FBSk
although i dont think its necessary to have repartition checked.. but as long as the flash goes smooth you wont have any problems.
Ill give it a shot and let you know how it goes

Official Tmo 4.1.2 rollout

Sammobile says Tmo has started the rollout for 4.1.2 on the sgh-t989 via Kies. I can't find anything on Tmo's site but sammobile has the Odin .tar file up. http://www.hotfile.com/dl/202091699/c92decf/T989UVMC6_T989TMBMC6_TMB.zip.html
*edit*
Now its finally official from T-Mobile.
"Beginning April 8, the Samsung Galaxy S II will have an optional software update to Android version 4.1.2/ Software T989UVMC6 via Samsung Kies only. This update changes the OS to Jelly Bean.
You can update in one way:
Manual download to T989UVMC6 If you want to update to T989UVMC6, you can update via Samsung Kies. Ensure you are on the latest version of Kies prior to attempting the update. See http://www.samsung.com/us/kies/ to confirm the version.".
Just installed with Odin. Looks cool. Now I'm late for work.

Try rebooting the PC.
Make sure Kies isn't running.
Lmao.. All of you guys rushing to flash an unrooted stock ROM just to see something we all have already seem in custom ROMs for the last month or more.. Its hilarious. Especially since half of you will now start a thread asking how to root the new update.. Its an awesomely hilarious cycle.
Especially since in less than a day all of the custom twiz ROMs will be updated.. Lol.

I think people are just happy to have something that SHOULD be 100% stable. I've found one or two ROMS for 4.1.2 that have been 95% stable, and it's took some massaging on my part to make it work 99%. It'll be interesting to see how Samsung did 4.1.2 on our phones, so I'm down to download. I can rock stock for a little while

Ive been running CM 10.1 and will probably go back to it for the hotspot. I wanted stock for future use if I need it which I will debloat myself. A lot of people like rooted stock over custom roms because most custom roms have bugs and so does CM 10.1. And yes, it seems someone popping into the thread and lol'ing is also part of the humorous cycle.
So no multi window with jelly bean for us? Or is that just for 4.2.2

Have you looked at this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998
It has a couple different Roms with the newest 4.3 ota firmware WITHOUT flashing the bootloaders. I personally had used LoserSkaters version and enewmans version with no real issues at all (other than I cannot flash my vr theme, but that might be something on my end). As far as being stable and everything working I have no problems.

First of, don't hijack threads, if you have a question start a new one.
And second, this is the reason I don't use cynanogen mod. There's a lot of random bugs.
And third, you might want to update to the latest version of cynanogen mod. Cm7 is pretty old.
