Hi everybody,
This is my first post on this forum, I am writing as I am in desperate help to help solve my issue with my note 2. I am on Tmobile in the UK. I rooted and installed a custom rom. My 3g signal disappeared. So I tried to go back to stock firmware, which I did. But I have made a mistake and installed a 'three' network firmware (4.2.1) and I am still unable to receive 3g signal? Does anybody have any idea as to where I have gone wrong or how to get my internet back?
Thanks in advance
Danny
Go to setting - wireless (more) - mobile network - access point names
Now if you can see any apn there open it and delete
Then select menu key-restore to defaut
If it doesn't work
You can ask operator for it
Or manually copy from others who have working 3g and have same operator
Or
Select toolbox in my signature and find last tool and try that.

Thanks so much for the reply. I tried deleting the APN...and then resetting it but it just put back on the exact one that I deleted. I clicked on your toolbox link...what is it that i have to download from there? I am completely baffled as to what to do. I mean I am on a tmobile contract, so am confused as to why I am now on the three network firmware? Would that have something to do with it?
If I can get it back to tmobile stock then I could take it into store and let them sort it I suppose.
Thanks
Yes download that you may find correct apn from its database for your network and you can manually copy it.

I am using the GT-N7100 on Tmobile. I saw a video that said you could put any network carrier firmware on to the phone by flashing it on Odin. I did that but it was with the three network firmware 4.2.1. So obviously when the phone boots it has the three logo etc. I am trying to find a stock 4.2.1 tmobile firmware, so I can flash that onto the phone....hopefully see if that sorts the 3g problem and if it doesnt I can atleast take the phone into tmobile and get the problem sorted without them asking questions.
I have been on Sammobile.com for firmwares...does tmobile firmware come under the code 'BTU'?
Edit
Sorry it's not Germany
N7100 don't have tmobile i think
Its not have different model?
Wait someone on tmobile answer it

You are a diamond. I will download and flash it over and see what happens.
Thanks
If that works for you, then just note apn setting manually and later flash any latest 4.1.2 rom for unbranded
And if your 3g won't work just put it manually, but I think unbranded should work.
I am saying this bcoz rom you are downloading having two serious bug.
Exploit

And very dangerous and can brick your device.

Meantime check your apn and correct following field if that is different than mentioned below
Apn : internet
If not work then check below said too

I flashed the firmware onto my phone but it has been stuck on the boot logo for over half an hour now. I have run out of ideas. I will keep searching for the tmobile firmware.
Sorry...the phone has finally booted and is now working and back. 3g is online too!!! Thankyou so much for the help!
Gld to know you sorted out it
anyway, whenever phone stuck after flashing ROM, first step to follow is wipe cache and data from recovery.

Ok, so I have managed to pretty much do everything I have tried with my phone without having to ask a single question, but this time I just can't figure it out. I was trying to restore my SGH-T989D (Telus) to factory so I could upgrade to ICS through Kies. I was using ODIN with a "ROM"?? I found on XDA as well as another I found else where. Each one restores the phone to: PDA: KJ3 / PHONE: KJ3 / CSC: KJ3 (TMB). I am assuming the TMB stands for T-Mobile and I need the TLS for Telus. In ODIN I tried just flashing while checking off the PDA box, as well as other times also selecting the CSC option. The two files I used are: SGH-T989D_TLS_T989DTLKJ3 and T989DTLKJ3_T989DTLKJ3_TLS. As you can see the second file even ends with the TLS and yet when I am done, KIES still says I have TMB and "Your device does not support software upgrading via KIES. Anyways, I apprecaite all the great info I have found here, but I am stuck.. Thank you for any help or insight anyone can provide!

No you won't loose SIM unlock by upgrading. You will lose root if you were, which you're not so you're good there.

Here in India we use video call through 3G network (UMTS) and not thriugh wifi or ant data plan
The Tmobile US version of S II is really great, far more superior than the international one.

I attempted to flash the t-mobile stock rom for t999 but got a secure check fail: aboot. I tried again using a out.pit file for 16gb sgs3 and then got a secure check fail: pit.. I've searched up and down to see if there's been anything similar and so this why im posting fir the first time. Please help. Thank you.
P.s. while in download mode it shows that the product name is sgh-i747 although it is a t-mobile device t999.
Get into download mod and odin.

Just curious how do you know its T999 ? while you read i747 on phone and download mode too.???
may be som1 just changed the back cover http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/eek.gif
The purchase d the phone from a cousin of mine but did not like the cmd10 mod that I had originally put on it. The factory image includes all components of ROM (bootloader, modem, kernel, system).
If phone is already on T889UVALJ1 then the unlock method should work.
Did you see a menu after entering *#197328640# ?
You can go back to this menu and check status of "[3]Perso SHA256 OFF"
Did you reboot the phone after this process, are you trying a SIM from a different carrier ? (just making sure)

Hi I just unlocked the note 2 att version to work for t-mobile by downgrading to firmware 4.1.1. Now I can use the phone for t-mobile. I now want to root and have an updated t-mobile based custom rom installed.
To achieve this must I first odin flash t-mobile's official 4.1.3 (or 4.1.2) firmware and
then root and then install a t-mobile 4.1.3 (or 4.1.2) based custom rom?
Or can I simple root and just install a 4.1.3 (or 4.1.2) t-mobile custom rom?
Thanks!

you should be able to root 4.1.1 and I think you should be able to root it with the exynos abuse apk. if not cf auto root should handle it. then you can add recovery and flash any rom you wanted
I've done this too. I was wondering if international ROMs would work on the att note2 unlocked and on T-Mobile. I've searched around but I found it tough to get a strait answer. I will probably just try it and see but wanted to ask first.

Make sure you stick with your device's native modems. Don't try a T889 modem on an I317. You will be sad.

If you can get any tmo service at all, it is unlocked. If you really want to try the unlock again, just flash a 4.1.1 modem appropriate for your device's model number. Don't flash modems across device models.
Are you certain you are in an area that has tmobile LTE service?
What baseband are you on?
