No,you must relock bootloader to update JB from EMMA or Sony companion or your phone will get brick

No, you're thinking PCC or SUS.
EMMA is for unlocked bootloaders.

No the phone dont get brick with PCC and unlockt bootloader.
PCC will download the files and on the beginn of the flashprozess you get a message that the Software in the phone is manipulated and the upgrade Prozess will aborted.
But you can take the downloaded firmware files from PCC and convert it to ftf file and flash with flashtool.

As XS user said , the offical JB for XS is the same as the leak one. Also the bugs still there. For this reason I would rather wait some more days. But not for another long waitting.

Can Sony PC Companion detect if there's an update for my Acro S with UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER?
My acro s is on stock .55 firmware, stock modified kernel by cobrato. It says "your phone is up to date" is it really true?
I'm not saying if I can update it with unlocked bootloader... I'm just saying if it can detect new update even if I have unlocked bl

I'm using XTZ ROM and very excited to enjoy the first offical jb for my xas .1080p recording bug isn't important for me

if you update from PCC,you will lose root.Rooted Device can update normally via PCC (of course with locked bootloader).

how about trying with SEUS? PC companion din detect while SEUS detected the updated and pushed it to the phone.

Updating here with MEA.

I've downloaded the C6503 .ftf,tried flashing with Flashtool 9.10b6 [with data not wiped],didn't work. Seems stuck at the "Please connect your device into flashmode" [the device is connected in flashmode]. After a while the phone will boot back into OS with everything intact.

I managed to flash the update by updating Flashtool to version 0.9.11 and excluding the TA partitons when flashing.

I wasn't able to flash the .ftf before so I compared the MEA .423 ftf with the MEA .253 ftf I used earlier and I saw that on the .253 ftf the simlock.ta and after1.ta wasn't present. I tried excluding the .ta partitions and it flashed fine. I don't know why it worked but it worked lol.

Ta partition of ftf is not necessary. Even if you include it it will be skipped.

Not working
Tried on XSL JB .211 Rooted while replacing in system/app.
None theme worked, all files invalid package....even my previous stock themes got removed because of installing this.

1 theme missing the Quartz theme (grey)

I had already tried putting it into system/app/home-release and changed the permission to rw-r-r

it needs disabled signature check. Auto rotation not working on z1 official 5.1.1

this home aint work on Xperia Z3 on 5.1.1 with MWE v3.5.0
superuser all installed but Home just fc, please fix it !

It works on Z3C (.546) rooted, with SU mode enabled. However, auto-rotation does not work and its toggle is not showing.

P.S.: just a tip for Serajr's XperiaXposed module users: make sure you disable xperia home settings in the module before installing this one.

i try the home on z2 stock 5.1 working fine when you install just Don't Chose ( New)

Try again but same problem. Me too phone number 5.1 stock. 232 pls help?

retested on my z2 same problem! tested on note 3 working good!

It's because it tries to replace the default one.
You need to change the signature to make it works.

I Will Delete the post and fix sthe bugs or repost it in android dev and for tw rom and non rooted 5.0 Devices

Just sign it with zipsigner

I installed it as a normal apk and it works but now I got a message that says home has stopped? I'm on z1c 5.1.1 with root and superuser I cleaned cache and dalvin cache but it still don't work

Also says app not installed on m4 aqua.

From my experience, you cannot install a modified system app as a normal app without root. This is because you cannot sign the apk as per the original signature. A simple logic is, if we could do that, then it's easy for malwares to install themselves as an system app update to gain that level of access.

Yep, you are absolutely right

What if the modified home.apk is given a different package name ?? That way it will not replace the existing home app, rather it will be installed as a new app.. I'm not sure if it can be done or not though (changing package name)..
