Android 4.2.2 r1 is out. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

For pure Google devices, not the Note 2....

Sweet, my Nexus 10 will like that

Need to be ported in to note 2 to work
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda premium

hopefully it fixes the lag and bugs in 4.2.1 on my nexus 7. i don't think the note 2 will ever get 4.2 in it's lifetime. my bet is the galaxy s 4 that ships this spring will have 4.2.2 or higher.

We are always the last to get anything :banghead:

Considering the GS2 just got ICS, id say GN2 not only gets 4.2 but will realistically get KLP when its released and could possibly get updated beyond that

we will definetly get up to at least KLP before its outdated

Also should note that the SG4 will most likely ship with 4.2 (was rumored at one time or another to ship with KLP) with an Exynos 5 OctaCore... but seeing how the OctaCore will only run 4 cores at any one time, the GNII 4.2 release shouldnt be difficult at all, if TMO/Samsung ever get around to it

Maybe T-Mobile is merging LTE configurations with the 4.1.2 update maybe that's why it's taking so long :-\

So what should we be expecting from 4.1.2 anyways? I don't think there's much of a difference is there?

Even 4.2 doesn't have much of significance. Lockscreen widgets would probably be the biggest thing, but I don't use them on my Nexus 7. Until there is another major Android upgrade, I don't care at all about updates.

Who cares about 4.1.2. I want 4.2. And lte. I can wait for those. 4.1.1 to 4.1.2 is so minor. Nobody would even know the difference. A number.

True that. But I'll let you know the difference between 10-20 mg and 20-30 isn't as noticeable as you think. I use my wife's t mobile note and it's barely noticeable. Unless it's on edge like it seems to do a lot in SC.

your going to be waiting awhile for us to get 4.2.
I think it would be easier to just go from 4.1.1 to 4.2.0 since it's been so long already. If I'm going to get a update it mind as well be the newest version of Android. Then once we're on 4.2.2 the next big wait will be KLP. KLP will be the biggest update this phone will receive since this phone was released with jelly bean anyway.
So once Key Lime Pie is released Samsung is going to have to race to get it into this phone. It would look bad if it took more then a couple months to get the next version of Android on this device. Mainly because it's there top phone besides when the S4 comes out. Then the Note 2 will be Samsungs 2nd top phone.

The only useful one was the flashlight one, which would be null for an n7. It was the only locks creek widget I used on my n4, and the camera one, but the hold and rotate on the note 2 is better.

Nexus 4 and 100$ is that a good deal?

I bought my Note2 in October. Week after Christmas I got my Nexus 4, February I sold my Nexus 4. The Note2 is a better device all around. Sure the Nexus 4 gets the latest Android release but it will never have many of the features of the Note2. You want the latest Android features, install Cyanogenmod or one of it's off shoots. i find that CM is a better package then what what Google releases.
Don't get me wrong, for the price the Nexus4 is pretty good phone but I much prefer my Note2.
Note 2 is better in every way. Battery screen etc. Nexus 4 just has more development and faster ota

My honest opinion we should skip 4. x anything... and demand 5.0.. And android 4.2 on my nexus 7 was not a nice thing...
Stick with what works.. not whats cutting edge..

I agree with sticking with what works but a lot of the people around here that can't do dev work truly believe that the newest is always the best, and that's not always the case. Android 5.0 may be just around the corner, who really knows considering 4.3 was just released for the Nexus line and in development for the S3, S4 and Note 3 (and possibly the Note 2).
ICS was a big step up from GB, and JB over ICS. History has proven the the next big version is not just better but A LOT better. But I have to ask, what could or would you possibly change to make Android that much better to warrant a major change over Jelly Bean?

Basically the stuff ive read from random sources online, its gonna be more aesthetic stuff but will also cut down on cpu usage. Making it more streamlined and less power hungry, meaning the newer smart phones will run smooth as silk and battery drain will be minimal. Obviously some features will be added, but i didnt read of anything revolutionary. Hopefully theyre keeping that aspect under a tight seal. I feel like theyre going to increase interaction with multiple devices now. Integration of all peripheral devices seems like the next "big thing".

My thoughts exactly. Start your stopwatches now.
To those who might know more than I: What are the odds of this release bringing with it any AOSP additional support that might allow the likes of CM to fully support the IR and other sensors on the S4, and similar phones?
Whats the point of waiting for the GE edition? I am sure roms like PA will have it merged in by tomorrow.

The guys at the Galaxy Note 2 forum think the Note 3 will have 4.3 when it comes out (supposedly) in November. They also theorize 4.3 will then be released on the Note 2 shortly after. I wonder if Samsung will release 4.3 on the S4 at that time.
