I have a virgin mobile SPH-D710 Galaxy S2 and I am looking for a stock rom. Or at least a way to remove Superuser. I noticed there is almost no development on this specific device.
I can't actually recall how I managed to put superuser on it, I did it a few months ago and it's my gf's device. Now she is having issues and is going to have to send it back. Would doing a factory reset work? I also noticed that titanium backup says that there isn't any root access so I am not sure if it's just broken or what.
Wrong device. This is the sph-d700!

My bad, thought this was the touch forum. Mind locking this or moving it to the epic 4g touch forum?
This is confusing. When I google for epic 4g it gives me pictures of different phone.

I have a sprint epic that is on a different service. My problem is its running 2.1. I would like to get it up to 2.2 if possible. or is it safe to one click root?
I do not wanna screw up my service.
(Not sure if i can mention the service its on because some forums don't allow it)
Roms generally don't affect service, unless you flash the wrong modem. 2 things: look at syndicate rom frozen 1.1.0 in the development section and learn how odin works then you will be a much happier epic user. Whatever you do GET OFF 2.1 !!!!

so i can pretty much do the one click root and just dont mess with the modem by flashing anything different and it should be safe to flash those rom?
Mines on boost... you can change the modem np.. and the rom, they don't affect most service settings except mms settings. For tha I recommend apn back up and restore from the market

You're allowed to speak of other carriers on xda. You're fine.

unfortunately, that is a subject that cannot be discussed on XDA
I have some totally noob questions about this all and the reality is that I've been wondering. What are the differences between the epic 4g touch and the gs2 on other carriers? When searching the xda forums do I need to be careful about whether certain ROMs are for the epic or another carrier phone? Ive had some problems with my flashing. The starburst RoM bricked my phone for awhile until I was able to find a stock image to restore from. I had backed up right before I flashed but for some reason it didn't finish and I didn't realize so when I went to backup from this starburst rom that put my phone in a continual boot loop I was screwed. I think my phone wont ever be able to go back to new like the day I bought it. Any ideas?

Im kinda new to this too but i believe this section is for sprint epic touch 4g. Any roms here are for epic touch 4g and they will work. You probably messed up the steps wrong that cuz to bricked ur fone. I flashed few roms work fine included the one u mentioned. Just a lil reminder backup be4 u if flash anythings!

Treat other GS2's as different phones i.e. those roms will not be compatible with the Epic 4G Touch. Stick to the Epic Touch forums for roms/kernels/images, etc.
has anyone successfully performed a wimax backup for the Samsung epic. I know I know you dont need to backup up rsa keys and things like that, but I still would like to backup wimax img so I can see if I can play around with the image to get it to another device. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would like to do the process through the phone. I have term emu and connectbot. As I stated before any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!
(SIDE NOTE)If you also have any info on restoring image for different 4g devices sprint offers, I would like assistance with that as well, and i also tried different wimax procedures that was threads such as evo, nexus s, etc, current settings do not work for wimax backup for samsung epic
No responses??????????
It doesn't exist, it probability hard coded and not on the NAND, that the wonders of Samsung
I wish WiMax settings could be adjusted on Nexus like on ET4G.

I think you can edit the MAC address on ET4G with Launcher Pro activities or is that only an Epic thing?

Yea so I was able to get wimaxlinetest up on epic touch two,the same settings that you would go to on og epic to edit wimax address and it seems that you are unable to edit mac address
Has anyone tried pulling the app from an E4g and running it on an E4gt? It would be nice to get this working but since wimax is 40 miles away, I'm not in a real hurry.

when you say pull app what app are you referring to specifically?
So I had it on stock, yes, it was really nice.. but miui 7 is even better so I successfully flashed it on my phone.. however I cannot use sprint tv.apk because it can't find me subscription.. it says "your current subscription is not availible..."
What to do? I've used the .apk from a previous thread in the apps section for the epic 4g

this thread is for the Epic 4g Touch (SGSII) but the sprint TV and movies app provided in post #6 works great for me, i like it better than stock.

Ok I know this is very confusing, but you're in the wrong forum. This forum is for the Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G. You have the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch.
You want to ask/research your question in the Samsung Epic 4G Touch forum.
But to answer your question directly, you'll most likely want to install CyanogenMod. You can access that link by going to CyanogenMod.org -> Wiki -> Devices -> d710
You should be able to find any help in the Samsung Epic 4G Touch forum of XDA Developers.
If you're considering switching providers then I would suggest seriously considering moving to Ting a post-paid-per-usage Sprint MVNO. PM if you want a $25 Ting referral credit or have any further questions.
Wow lol this is the second forum I'm being told is the wrong one lol, HTC is much more simpler lol, but thanks for the explanation bro ill check it out
