Not sure if you are doing the install correctly
Lets review...
You run a Titanium Backup backup [or other app based backup not talking nadroid here].
You restart to recovery
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvick Cache
Go to Mounts and storage [CWM] and format /System AND /Data
You go back to main menu
You Flash the ROM
You Flash GApps Pack [there is a 2013.01.08 I have seen that is specifically for 4.2 and not 4.1 BTW]
You restart and let it boot and wait at least 5 min before touching the phone
You then download and install Titanium Backup Open it, grant root
Then you Restored ONLY User apps and data [be sure to NOT RESTORE ANY SYSTEM APPS OR DATA]
This should have you running fine if this is your process.
If you are using TWRP and used the advanced backup/Restore to restore only /data by unchecking the other stuff this WILL NOT WORK it will restore the original /data and anything new your new install placed in /data will be removed and prolly why there is a problem.
If this is the only type of backup you now hoave if you download titanium backup pro [like $6 USD] then it as an advanced option can read out things from a nandroid backup done by either TWRP or CWM and restore apps based on the data there and the only way you should restore from that back DO NOT use TWRP to restore /data.
Basically TWRP images the entire partition and just puts that back exactly as it found it before whereas runnin titanium installs the apps back WITHOUT affecting anything that is new and already present [unless its a user app that exists in the backup and was installed by the ROM then you may end up with an older version, but then if that does happen don't panic open market and go to my apps [open market hit menu key tap my apps] and it should list any and all updates based on what is currently installed and can then update the affected app maintaing your user data that was restored by the titanium restore process., but it should warn about newer and older apps I believe.
TWRP method is good, but only if using same exact ROM and you had an issue [you deleted something wrong and caused a problem or otherwise need the data back EXACTLY as it was before, and disregarding any changes since].
Ok I did all that besides the go to mount part in recovery an when I reinstalled my user apps an data I rebooted back into recovery after it sat for an 5-10 min

Do the mount part and format both /system and /data. After restore to be absolutely thorough if you restart to recovery then have it wipe cache and dalvick cache one more time [should not be needed but may help].
You should ALWAYS format /system [and cache and dalvick cache] when flashing ANY ROM [ be it a different one or an updated version] and you really should do /data as well; though as long as it is a compatible ROM [JB to a different JB for instance] you may not need to wipe /data, but if you notice odd issues not helped by usual fixes [like my Swype stopped using the user dictionary and re-installing the app completely did not help only re-flashing my ROM and being sure to wipe both /system and /data and re-building from ground up [re-downloading my apps via market>My Apps [swipe My Apps screen to the left and there is a list with EVERY app you ever downloaded in the order it was downloaded which can help] fixed it [usually happens about once every month-ish little issues build until I can't stand one and format /data on an install]. Kinda personal pref on that, but if moving to a New ROM you really should try to do a Titanium backup and still wipe /data as ROMs do install some things there.
Ok I'll do that an thanks

Hi, I received a Samsung I9000. Would not go past "s".
Used odin to flash to Gingerbread- still would not boot. Flashed to stock 2.2.1.
Takes long to boot, then force close keeps on popping up for all applications installed. After startup, I noticed the same user data and applications on phone. I tried *2767*3855#. No luck. Booted into recovery and wiped cache and formatted, no luck. What else can I do?

AFAIK as long as you still notice same user data on phone, you won't get any luck repairing force closes.
Try to wipe data/factory reset first, then do flash any stock Gingerbread with repartition checked using Odin.
After that, you should have a clean ROM without FC.
Then it is best to redownload your installed apps from market.
If you would like to restore your apps using Titanium Backup try just to restore app only (without data).
Good luck and cheers...

i find that the nightly build is cool and is awesome. the problem is when i use system panel task manager, the phone reboots. i dont know why and its more laggy than the cm7 mod please tell me its me doing something wrong not my phone's or the mod's fault.
and it svery irritating that it keeps hanging. please someone help me with the nightly mod thing i want to use.
Go for nightly#205. And do a full wipe including data, cache, dalvic cache, and perform a factory resetting from cwm before you flash the nightly. Also use latest buzz kernal so that you can overclock your phone.

Lol you may have used beta 4 script, try beta 3, need to use atleast ext3 as your secondary partition. Try it with latest original cwm recovery. 5.xxx to partition. Do a clean install after partition.
And a personal suggestion. S2e app in market is good than dta2sd, though it have not much functions, but what it have, it does its best. I use it.

Dude, explore options in cwm, don't do formatting boot, system, data, unless you learn what it does.
Options may vary from version to versions of cwm. So you have to say which cwm version you have. Mine is latest 5.xxx.
In it, data- factory format( user data or wipe user data, which ever it is called) is in main menu. And dalvic cache wipe is in advanced menu.
Lol you must carefully read topic named" complete wildfire index, then ask doubts, after all you can learn new things from every topic.
Your kernal will be in that topic. Check it out.

another problem
now i got another problem. my wildfire will hang every now and then and i have to pluck out the battery and switch it back on. its very irritating and having to keep doing that will kill my bat very quickly so could anyone tell me any solutions?
To solve your problem, you must say. Your current configuration, rom, kernal, radio, tweeks, and what have you done just before you got the error

well i am using the cm7 nightly build #205. kernel is buzz-kernel-2.6.35. i just downloaded some apps that were in my phone when i was using cm7 stable. and there wasnt a problem. do i have to upgrade to latest build and kernel? oh and just a question. if i want to upgrade from #205 to #208, do i have have to like wipe my data and cache and dalvik cache? i wouldnt wanna redownload and change everythin again
You can install the nightlies on top of one another without wiping anything, sometimes it seems better to wipe the cache to me but not always necessary, leave data alone.
Word of warning though, always make a nandroid backup before installing a new rom, although they're stable they are still called experimental for a reason, and sometimes (not very often) things can still go wrong.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
i wiped both the dalvik and partition cache and installed the #208 nightly build and the latest kernel but then the phone would just restart automatically. do i have to wipe data as well?
Yes do a "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" in Clockworkmod if it is giving you issues. Then try a fresh install and check again for instability.
Note - Performing a Wipe Data / Factory Reset will erase all data (Except SD Card)
well i not sure but i think the problem still occurs.. yes it does. i wiped data, cache and dalvik cache, did a install using cwm and it still reboots WHAT TO DO NOW

dude is it the same one you had before? thats why we mention to give your current spec. with out it we cant do any thing or we cant help you.
First off, I am aware there are other threads regarding this issue but there appears to be an issue with my phone that is not mentioned in other similar threads so I am starting a new one.
I just updated one of my apps and then all of a sudden my phone keeps rebooting. Having read other threads, I figured I will go in and uninstall the app and see if that fixes it. However, whenever I even try to open something like task manager or applications in settings, it freezes and then reboots again before I even get the chance to uninstall. I was able to use titanium backup to uninstall the app but still no luck, it still reboots.
So I go into cwm recovery mode and I am just going to wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, etc. since I have a backup of the rom ready. But the phone freezes and then reboots right when it begins the factory reset process.
So now what is there left to do but to download the stock ICS rom or a custom rom, whichever, and use odin to install the md5 file.
Is there anything else I should try before I attempt to just flash to stock (or custom) rom using odin?
Thanks for your help!
Try this;
Download and flash tdj's darkside super wipe
Flash Jedi Mind Trick v3 ROM
Flash tdj's darkside cache wipe
Reboot and Wait for like 10 mins for the ROM to settle and then reboot.
And don't restore app with data in titanium. First try restoring apps only. Later on restore data for important apps.

I decided just to odin back to stock. Better to work with a fresh OS again instead of restoring what was still probably a buggy rom.
But thanks for your input.

First off I searched but didnt find it.
Is there a quick and easy way to update nightlies to the newest release.
I am currently using ericwill ROM - CyanogenMod 10 - JB 4.1.1 - UNOFFICIAL.
I have 2012-09-15 and would like to upgrade to 2012-09-18.
Do I need to do a full wipe and flash and then reinstall my apps with titanium backup or is there a simple way given that they are very similar?
also can I restore all the system data as well or is that too risky given that system may have changed a bit?
Thanks in advance.

When flashing a nightly you dont have to wipe! You can just add on top of each other!!! But make sure to WIPE DATA if flashing a new ROM.
To build on the first reply, I backup current nightly with trwp. Wipe all, install new nightly, Flash gapps, restore data from last backup. Wipe cache just in case and reboot. Now if on aokp, use aokp backup to restore settings. No tibu needed, all user apps restored with data

You can try using titanium backup or another like it. Or restore the data partition from your nandroid.
BUT!, I wouldnt recommend this. You are trying to go from jb to ics while keeping the apps and data you had while in jb. Ill bet this is exactly whats causing it to hang. you will be much better off and have a more stable system if you do a clean install.
Copy all of the apps you have in /data/app to your external sdcard. Then reinstall from those.
When ever making a jump from one os version to another it is always best to do a clean install.

Just wipe cache, clear dalvik cache, wipe data/factory reset. Dalvik cache is located under advanced. Those are the steps to flashing ROM'S. If you don't have Titanium Backup from the market, I highly recommend it. Any apps you downloaded from the market will automatically restore after you sign in. But if you are stuck, just to the 3 steps above in CWM. Or just flash a older ROM you might have stored just to get back to normal. Hope this helps. Good luck brother!
