So I rooted my note 2 using 2nd method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1955423...and unrooted following the same steps but I still get modified in the status instead of normal. Any help anyone? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm not at my computer right now, but..
You need to download Odin to your computer, download the stock firmware of which model phone you have (make sure you download the right one)
And flash it via Odin.

The 1.26gb file sounds big (even with stock bloatware)... if that file containes modem/radio content then make sure you have a backup first

Try going to settings/appliction manager/all/com.sec.android.providers.downloads and wiping cache and data. Reboot and try update again.
Also I seen in another forum people cleared google.services.framework cache and data and rebooted and were able to get update.
How do they send updates? By zones?

With knockz being part of the update I am betting it is locked boot loader and in root able kernel
