[Q] Cyanogenmod 10 Bugs & other info - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
First of all i hope i posted in the right section. A friend asked me to upgrade his Arc S to android 4.1+ because he wants a much smoother ROM than his 4.0.4 stock. I told him android 4.1+ has project butter, and this could help him really much, but i have some questions before flashing him the (probably Cyanogenmod 10) ROM:
Which are the known bugs of this ROM?
Is project butter fully working? (Also vSync? - This mean you have a fully working kernel 3.0)
Locking back bootloader, gives you back the warranty too?
I didn't find the answers to the first 2 questions, btw for the third one i'm a bit confused.. Thanks in advice!
EDIT: I also need the codename of the ArcS and would know if "FXP206" is the build number.. Thanks!

HDMI is not working on CM10
some restarts and memory leaks (may be fixed already, I'm not using CM10 since video recording in 720p is disabled)
camera is worse than stock one
AFAIK project butter is working, but we are still on 2.6.X kernel
Codename for Arc/Arc S is Anzu

Thank you! Is kernel 3.0 in development? Do you think the ROM isn't still good for daily use?
Inviato dal mio Galaxy S Plus i9001 JB

There's kernel 3.4 in development, but don't expect it very soon.
I can't really say is it good for daily use now, as last version I used was FXP151 (14/12/12).
I switched back to ICS-based ROM because FXP decided to remove 720p recording to improve smoothness andalso I was tired of random reboots and crashing games.

Mhmm okay! Thanks again! I will wait for someone who tried the latest version or a newer one. I don't want to void the warranty if I'm nor sure the result is good!

Im on the latest CM10 nightly build, the overall experience is great apart from HDMI(which will never work till sony release sources for it) most things works flawlessly. And dont worry its as stable as stock now thanks to the great devs.
For me, going back to stock ICS feels like a serious downgrade.
If you dont care much about 720p video recording and slightly less image quality from the camera then i recommend you to make the switch

Okay, last question: for Android 4.1+ ROMs we must unlock bootloader?

Yes, you need unlocked bootloader to flash jelly bean kernel.

[Q] Jelly Bean Rom for everyday use

The title of thread says it all. What JB based rom is best for now, for everyday usage, if any? I'm using seb's AIO 6.1.1. and I'm very satisfied, but now I would like to try something newer. Than you.
Jelly Bean and Everyday Use doesn't come in pair, for now.
Unless you're fine with glitchy camera, broken camcorder, not working flash, 3G/GPS issues, not working USB tethering / wifi hotspot.
Obviously it doesn't have Butter either, which is main JB improvement.

vijendrahs's miui jelly bean rom seems very stable. the only issue I have faced, you should activate the a2sd script.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1850436
I think you should try and decide for yourself. Many of the JB roms seem to be based on Nikez roms. Nikez has got a matrix of what is working and not working in his web site.
I used Nikez for some time. I liked it. It has got its plus and minus. I loved the soft keys(my keys have started acting up). GB does not have soft keys. But I missed the status bar toggles especially the 2G/3G. I had to switch because for some reason I could not restore nandroids. It doesnt seem to happen to everybody. And of course the constant wiping, installing and setting up tired me out finally.
i use paranoid Android hybrid 2.20, modified a little by myself with int4ext, smooth and stable.camera preview kind of work. customMTD repart system 220mb ,so i have more data.

I use since yesterday [ROM/4.1.2] [Oct 19 2012] CM10 | Jelly Bean 4.1.2 - v1.0. This Rom ist fantastic:good:. There are some little Bugs but this is 1.0.
Update should come...
How about for the CDMA version of the Desire? Any recommendations?

I like very much the JB:CM10:HYBRID, which is based on evervolv with CM10 settings and paranoid android mode.
I find it as stable as Nikez (it is based on the same code anyway) and it is updated every few days.
Any new suggestion now?

For daily work I'm using PARANOIDANDROID v3.10b2
very stable, no soft reboots for me
I use the slim Rom 1.0. This is indeed Android 4.1.2 but this Rom is stable so far. My Problem is the Softreboot after deinstalling app (not always).
This has many features. I love this :fingers-crossed:

Lucky boy!..but on the log it's written that a lot of stuff aren't working.."Stock camera, preview is tearing, open "recents" and tap on camera and it should be fine
Stock videocam is choppy

is it true or not?

Fully agree with that recommendation.
Furthermore I would gladly refer VJ CM10.1 | Jelly Bean 4.2.2 - v6.0 Stock/Sense/Data++ to be worth y try :good:
- Permanent solution for Soft Reboots (No more temporary solution)
- Improved Hardware Acceleration
RSK Xperience 4.2.2 smooth + nice themes

[Q] Which Cyanogemod rom

Hi Guys,
I have found Cyanogenmod to be the most stable rom for my Desire HD. Which Cyanogenmod rom have you found to be the most stable/user friendly (7.1, 7.2, unofficial cm10 nightlies etc)???
7.2 is the most stable if that is what you're after. Although it's Gingerbread. CM10 is good enough for use as a daily driver with slight bugs. Personally I'd choose Jellybean over Gingerbread anyday.. but if you're really paranoid about stability.. go for 7.2

JellyTime by randomblame is the best Jellybean ROM around at the moment to be used as a daily driver. Thanks to the dev its mostly always in sync with CM10 changes with regular updates and offers extra features from aokp and such. Stability is also good.

I'm using JellyTime as my Daily Driver since Release 9.1, had some of the dicussed Issues on the development Thread, (like randomly rebooting, and bad Music Quality on Earphones, but if you follow the Development, it's nothing that can't be fixed with a little effort;
Latest Release (R24) is running smooth and without any issues for me, after full wipe an a clean Install.
Some People reporting battery drain Issues, but this seems to be device-dependent, so you have a good chance that this Problem will not come up for your DHD.
Give it a try, and i suppose you will never go back to GB...

What Bugs on CM10 and CM 10.1 [Xperia S.LT26i.Nozomi]

Hello to everyone. I'm on XZX2, but i think that it is very slow, not laggy, but slow. I tried both of cm 9 and cm10, but never cm 10.1
My questions are:
1) What bugs are in CM10 and what bugs are in CM10.1? (Like HDMI, 1080p video recording, FM Radio..)
2) I can use nova kernel 1.6 with cm10, but Can I use its with CM 10.1?
3) I love cm10.1's camera app, what rom (FXP, Cyano, Opensemc...) do you suggest to me?
Thank you all.
Stefano [ITA]
ps: i know that in the end of March/April will roll out Jelly bean, but i want to try 4.2.2 also..
Go and try, make a backup before... U got nothing to lose.. I am on cm10.1 open semc 04.. I think it is the best rom...

1)FXP's CM10 have no bug in it's latest stable ROM ,OpenSEMC's CM10.1 have some problem with FM Radio.(but it doesn't matter
2)You can't use nova kernel on CM10.1
3)All 4.2 ROM's camera are the same(Slim, CM10.1 ,PAC).
If you want a ROM that very stable, try FXP's CM10
If you want a ROM that high customation, try PAC (19 based on CM10(4.1.x) ,20 or 21 based on CM10.1(4.2.x)
If you want a ROM that daily use, try Slim Rom or OpenSEMC's CM10.1
sorry for my poor english :<

Does anyone knows if anyone of those ROMS has camera support? I mean fullHD 1080p video and 12mp photos? And if there is support for 3.4 kernel ?
Sent from my LT26i using xda app-developers app
In general, the main bugs are related to network, sometimes it disconnects itself and have to disable and reenable data traffic. Moreover, 1080p and FM Radio is not working in most of cases, but in general, CM10-10.1 ROMs are very stable.

[Q] Latest stable Firmware for Xperia S

Hi guys, i tried a lot of firmwares for my XS and havn't found a real smooth working one yet. Can anyone recommend me a good rom that's around latest android 4.2.2 and does work completely? I was very happy with the CM builds from freexperia but recently i found major bugs around the cam function (melting video after recording ~ 10m), HDMI (flickering or doesnt work at all) and trebuchet does crash sometimes..
Things i tried so far:
FXP 209 - 217
Official CM 9.1
MIUI 3.2.22 / 3.2.8
PAC 19.3 / 19.3.2
OpenSEMC Beta 2
Maybe there is just a version of the roms i mentioned thats very stable and i havn't tried, but maybe there's something other out there thats STABLE.. I looked around xda, but wasn't lucky finding a rom thats as stable as the stock.
I know that everyone hates those newb questions and it really sounds like i just should google or check all the threads here again but as you can see, i already tried so mutch that a'm a bit tired bein the dummy ;D.
Did you try official jelly bean leak? Heard that it is good. I think it is not allowed ask such question. May be I am wrong.
Anyway here is the link: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2252940
Yeah you should definitely check the leaked JB rom out if you have an unlocked bootloader. Near as stable as stock and fast as any JB rom.
You should try the latest official jb leak, really smooth!

is smooth sailing, with max CPU freq. of 600MHz, and abyssplug governor, as well as deepest sleep state 5, you should get very good battery life. With moderate use (no games, just 2D apps and music), mine lasts 22 hours.
Cyanogenmod 10.2
I'm using Cyanogenmod 10.2 works very well. Only thing is some videos wont play with the default player but play fine with MXPlayer. Not sure why videos wont play or wont show in thumbnail in gallery, otherwise fine. Thinking of getting CM11.

Is CM 11 working well? i'm on CM 10.2 and in my opinion runs great, but sometimes has problems with memory management.
The 2 best roms are CM10.1 (2013-12-13) and Omni rom 4.4
Both are fast, smooth and stable. Omni has the best battery like since it has less features. CM10.1 has a Low in call bug soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo =p
If you're and Instagram user and you upload videos omni and other 4.4 roms won't do but CM10.1 will do
