Disable Google apps - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

Coming from evo lte, it was nice to disable apps like Google plus. Without rooting, is there anyway to do this?
Plus there is there no way to move part of apps to external memory? Items like Google plus are close to 40mb? I miss this feature.

Rooting would be the only way to go, I think

Go to settings and application manager. Go to the app you want to disable. Click it. Click delete updates or disable. Not sure if you've been updating them. But if you have to click delete updates, you'll have to go back into the settings a second time and disable the app. I had to go into the "all apps" list to find out the second time. I don't know why people keep saying you need to root.

Disable bloatware.

Most of us want to remove bloatware, so we root our devices. But for those who don't want to root just yet (like me), you can disable unwanted apps. It's would still be there but frozen or inactive. Best of all you won't receive updates notifications for it.
Here are the steps...
1. Go to settings - apps
2. Select the all apps tab
3. Click on the specific app.
4. If it's an updated system app click unintelligible updates. If not click disable.
Hope this helps someone. B-)

realtimechat and battery

BetterBatteryStats reports that my GNex has spent about 2.5 hours in the past 6 hours in realtimechat (com.google.android.apps.plus.Google+).
I don't use Google+ and don't believe I'm doing any real time chatting. Apparently I can't uninstall google+. I'm on stock, unrooted.
Why is the phone spending so much time in realtimechat and how do I stop this battery draining behavior?
Yes, I am experiencing the same. Does anyone have an idea?

I suspect this is caused by the hangouts option. Try disabling it in G+ settings.
PS: you can uinstall G+ if you have root. Or freeze it using an app like Titanium Backup.
You can disabling Google+ in Settings > Apps without root

You'd think so. All I have there is an 'uninstall upates' for G+ however. Disable button is avaiable for other system apps though.

Never installed g+ app before, and you know what .. you're right! WTF, unbelieveable! Sorry about that
I think rooting is the only way to get full control of your phone
I like G+, so I don't want to delete it. Is there another option to deactivate the chat?

You can only "disable" the preinstalled or /system/app versions of an app. If you update a system app you have to uninstall the updates and you'll be able to deactivate them afterwards.

Is this phone dead in the water?

Hey guys, I just got an S3 3 days ago, just got paid again and was wondering if I should go ahead and spring for the note 2 but everyone keeps telling me since the note 2 has exynos, it will be hard to develop for or something? I've had an iPhone for 5 years so I'm a clinical retard when it comes to android stuff. It almost seems like the people saying that are kind of jealous that they don't or can't get the note 2. I was just wondering if you can easily root the note 2 and flash CM10, because I hate bloatware and love CM10 sounds. If CM10 isn't available is it possible to de bloat it at all?
De bloating is no problem. CM10 will lose the S-pen functionality on this monster.

Thanks for the reply brother. Another quick question, I used a very easy toolkit to root my S3, I don't remember who made but it was in green text and in console. Is there anything like that available for the note 2, it was amazingly simple to use and easily un rooted my S3, I've been on Android for all of 4 days so excuse my nubishness. Lol
Right now it is a little more difficult to root than a 1 click method...but in time I bet the developers will make it happen..
MY honest opinion...get the Note II...

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and spring for the note 2, couple more questions and once again my apologies for being so noobish, is there a way to de bloat and get the quick reply texting, like CM10, without rooting?
*EDIT* Also is there way to get the CM10 sounds? I love the ringtones and sms notifications.
No.

That would be awesome bro, I also heard you can disable bloatware from the native note 2 file manager. Guess there's no need to root....yet.

I rooted within 5 minutes of getting the phone, but I would imagine that this only applies if you're rooted. AT&T doesn't want you taking its bloat/spy/malware off, so I really doubt they'd let an unrooted user go through and delete the apps.
I'm waiting for the Multi-view update before rooting. Save myself from having to unroot. And as for bloatware, you can just "disable" it - without rooting.
And as for it being "dead in the water".... what you talking about? News to me...

As far as rooting goes... There is a method on here that literally takes about 3 mins from beginning to end.. very easy. Once rooted, just download and install Cleanrom Lite 1.0...this rom is debloated and extremely fast/smooth. There are plenty of sms apps that provide quick reply... gosms/chompsms/handcent are just a few. This is one awesome phone and I wouldn't worry too much about development, or lack thereof.

No need to root to de-bloat. I'm on the stock ROM, haven't seen a need to root yet.
1. Go to: "Settings | Application Manager" and swipe over to the "All" tab.
2. Find what you want gone (i.e. all of the AT&T apps) and tap it.
3. Clear data, Clear cache. Some apps might also require you to "uninstall updates".
4. Force stop.
5. Disable.
You're done. If you later want to re-enable something, scroll down to the bottom of the "All" list ... it has everything you've disabled listed there. I've disabled about 32 things that came preloaded, including almost all the Samsung cloud stuff, GMail, all the Google Sync services, all the Google additional services (apps like Google+ and Google Play Magazines/Movies & TV/Music, not Android system services), with no issues whatsoever.

Is there an SMS app with Quick Reply that preserves the look of the stock Jelly Bean SMS app? I really like the way it looks already loaded on the Note 2 so I don't want to take away its aesthetics.

yes go to setting-application manager slide to the right until u see all apps then scroll down to any app u want to debloat select then disable. Boom the app will disappear. Remember this method only disable the app if u want to delete them then need root. Learn about Odin stuff that easy for new noobs. Good luck

Don't want to root, is there a way to stop the Sammy and at&t bloatware?

Can I just go into app manager and "force stop" unwanted apps?
No. Why dont you want to root? Anything besides work I wouldnt understand

Yes, as long as it's not essential. You can go to settings and application manager then disable apps to prevent them from even running or showing up. If it doesn't say disable, un install updates first.

I have a stock, non-rooted phone and I've disabled roughly 30+ bloatware apps with no problems. As the poster above noted, some apps require you to hit the "uninstall updates" button in the upper right before you can "force stop" and then "disable" (do both, in that order).
The only 2 apps that for which "Disable" is greyed out and unavailable are "Allshare Cast" and "Allshare Service". I "Force stop" them, but that doesn't survive a reboot like "Disable" does.
Which apps are you having difficulty disabling?
First go to settings> applications> all
Go to bloatware
Then possible uninstall updates
Then disable

Thanks a lot. Your phone is the 7105 international version? Mine is the 7100 att version. I don't see disable in any settings . for the bloatwares, the options are "stop" or "uninstall updates". I did the latter. And now the app disappeared from the list.

Once you uninstall the updates it will let you disable them, just go to the "all" list for your apps. Open it back up and it should say disable in the same place.

Evil ATT Address Book

How in the heck can we stop this monster short of rooting and debloating? Everytime I try anything with contacts there it is and I have to hit the back button to escape. There doesn't seem to be a way anywhere to kill this atrocity of an app.
Okay, call me stupid, it gives more options NOT to use it once your SIM is active. So used to HTC Dev Editions, or GPE. Mods can delete.
You should be able to disable it through Apps in Settings. What I usually do is just have it set up then in contacts under settings manually uncheck it so it doesn't sync anything.

They don't let you disable it on the G2, I doubt they'd do so on the G3. One of the reasons I ordered a T-Mobile version.
You'd probably have to do a root-debloat to get rid of it.
I rooted and it's gone after some debloating.

Download titanium backup and freeze all of the AT&T apps this way they can be unfrozen when you need to do an OTA.
Simple....root it and use a root uninstall app. No reason not to root

On my LG G3 I had the same problem and later on a friend asked me to do this and it worked perfectly.
Go to the dialer and type *#*#2666#*#*
Select "Registration" and choose "Completed"
And you should be ok.
