Can I disable the the connection optimizer widget? It causes a lot of reboots.
The phone is not rooted.

You cant disable a "widget"
Idk whether that was just a typo, but if you mean the setting (which is really an app)...then you need to root it
Sent from my PG06100

No need to root. I'm not rooted. Go to settings. Then mobile networks. Click sprint connections optimizer. A screen will pop up asking if you agree, just hit back. Then uncheck the box for it. Done.

Connection Optimizer works really well. You would be amazed at how many places you can pick up wifi. I have used it on the S3 always. Couldn't stand it on other devices but it works really good on S3.

Large battery drain

Recently I have been having something, I am not sure what drain lots of battery with leaving no trace that I can see for wakelocking... but it IS keeping my phone awake.
Also I don't even use maps and it eats up a ton of battery wth.
Set your wifi to turn off when your screen is off.
WiFi settings > menu button> advanced> keep wifi on > never
That should help some.
Also, what is your screen on time?

Screen on time is pretty low, switched it to keep wifi > only if plugged in.. so at night it saves data.

That should work too. The only other way to figure out what is taking all your battery is to scour Better battery stats for rogue wake locks and such. I un installed all my user apps and am reinstalling as I use them so that I don't have a ton of extra stuff running in the background eating all my battery.

The thing is nothing is showing up in the better battery stats app.

Here are more stats.
Also for note: I am on LTE because I am at school.. some of the building have really bad connection/ 1 or 2 bars LTE.
If I knew how to turn off LTE I probably would...
Also why is maps so high I don't use it.

I find LTE chews up battery. To turn it off should be settings/more settings/ mobile networks/ network mode. And then choose the one under LTE. Saves lots of battery. Also might want to disabled GPS. I looks like it is on according to pics.

Idk if maps has been fixed their problem yet but the latest version of maps has a flaw that keeps it on. Go into the app into and in install the update and see if that helps.

Uninstall the update. The new version keeps phone awake. Uninstall it and uncheck the box in Google play to update maps.

My maps has been doing the same thing. Is horrid. Even disabled all latitude settings, gps etc. Still massive wake ups.
Is there a link to a previous non horrid maps app?

In your app drawer tap and hold maps then drag it down to info. There should be an option to Uninstall update.

Only fix is to downgrade. Or wait for Google to patch with an update.

I uninstalled the gmaps updates and the resaults are good. I didn't thing the change would be this big haha. Google needs to fix the issue.
Edit: By the way is there a way to fix cell standby?

Fool me once...with JB remember to disable Con Optimizer

FYI, for the 3rd update in a row Sprint enables Connection Optimizer by default. It is a HUGE battery drainer in the past, and maybe even more so in the JB release. Remember to go into..
Settings --> More Settings --> Mobile Networks --> Connections Optimizer
and uncheck.

But does it stick as disabled when you disable it? I had that problem in LI3 and I ended up freezing it with Titanium Backup.
You have to go to /system/app and delete or rename Connection Manager.apk.
Even if you disable it. It will be turned on again.
That's the Sprint "don't use your unlimited data"
That sh** is all day long scanning for Wi-Fi.

I haven't had the issue of it turning back on. Once unchecked it no longer shows up as a battery hog and no longer turns in my Wi-Fi

It is causing hell on my phone today. Keeps flipping out and flapping my WiFi connection. Just checked it in Better Battery Stats...yep, this is the third worst offender behind screen and media services. And Sprint pushed out a buggy update that won't let people turn it off...
With this and their incredibly stupid removal of Internet Calling, I can see LJ7 being pulled or a fast update being pushed out ASAP.

I find this quite interesting... I get great life leaving it on... I have disabled many other things and restricted my background data but not this... interesting indeed

then uncheck the box and that will disable the Wifi auto-connection. Hope that helps. I have the same issue the day i got my phone. =)

YES! Thanks, Jeff! I am using Tasker to turn all data connections off at night, but when I plugged it into the USB, it turned WiFi on and I kept getting alerts throughout the night. I understand the principle, but that was annoying.

well, wifi uses a lot less battery than 3g and way less than 4g. the optimizer is a good idea, but just works terribly.

Sprint Connections Optimizer

First off, a thousand apologies if there is already a post or thread regarding my issue. I could not find it.
After using ROM toolbox pro to uninstall sprint connections optimiser my WiFi still turns on pretty frequently by itself. Is there some other app I need to freeze or uninstall to keep this from happening?
I've looked in WiFi settings for an option to disable "notify me when networks are available" but couldn't find that.

You know, I forgot I uninstalled Connections Optimizer and my WiFi still turns on. I have yet to figure out what is causing it. But it is a pain in the arse to constantly turn it off. Let me do some research..

I was about to post a question regarding this. Good to know I wasn't the only one having this issue. I just got my Optimus G and couldn't figure out why my WiFi would randomly turn on. I changed the network notification setting and will test that out.
Oh btw, I'm running completely stock and not rooted Android 4.1.2
Edit: didn't work... Almost seems like when I get a multimedia message my wifi turns on
Yep seems like when I get a new picture message my wifi turns on... Anyone have this issue?\
Edit: Ok read about how to disable the sprint connection optimizer. unchecked the box and let's see if that helps.
Edit 2: that did it... Thanks!

I bet you have Connections Optimizer turned on by default. In the settings menu click
More Settings > Mobile Networks > Connections Optimizer > uncheck the box in the top right.
Basically, it saves your known wifi locations and turns it on when you are in that area. It drove me nuts when I first got the phone.
Ok. ...I tried that and it was on but wifi STILL keeps connecting. ... it's blowing my mind

I've had that happen on a phone that didn't have the connections optimizer. I think I fixed it by unchecking 'Notify me when an open network is available' in the advanced settings. Have you tried that? Not sure if it will work for you...
