why don't you move some of the installed apps to SD card?!
um, I moved all the apps to SD card I could. Meaning the ones that support moving. I could force move to SD card for some apps, but don't want to screw with that.

That message is there for a reason and if you know what your doing some times it just takes common sense you can move most of your apps to SD card even if the creator of the app doesn't allow it in the app setting 's

How come some phones are okay with less than 20MB free... anyway, arc's internal memory size is way too small... "common sense", huh? Well, I have my own reasons for not wanting to force the apps to SD...

Links2SD works wonderfully for the Xperia 2011 phones.
I did the "move to SD" for every app possible, but still ran into issues downloading games from the Market due to only have 20-70 MB free on the internal phone storage.
But, using Links2SD, creating a 1 GB partition on the SDCard for apps, and moving/linking pretty much everything to that, I have over 150 MB free internal phone storage for app downloading.

It isn't big, but not too small.
Some of us, as I do, have more than 100 apps and ~100MB left.
Once I had 145 apps and 80MB were left, I just use the native App2SD. No Link2SD etc
Do you clear your cache regulary?
Gives me back ~10MB each day

Well, if you compare Arc's internal memory to some other devices' that have 16GB of it, it does seem tiny, doesn't it? I have more than 200 apps and I use Apps2SD, so I move apps to SD if they support it. I used TB to force some huge apks to SD, like Epic Blue and Green themes for CM7, but it's a bit of a pain if you're on one of those themes when you have to reboot, because you have to reapply the theme after the phone boots up. And yes, I wipe cache on daily basis. I'm getting myself 32GB memory card so I'll probably try Link2SD or something like that. I currently have 2 class 8GB card which I got with the phone. Lousy card, lol.
But anyway, I just wanted to know if it was possible to get rid of that Low on space message. Like, okay, I know I'm low on space, I'll see what I can do later, but get the fck away from my status bar now cos you annoy me...

I think we should remove unuseful applications.
Does anyone know the way to backup applications, group them by folder and restore all without asking anything?

Does anyone else have this problem? This happens when I make a nandroid backup. I just want to make sure that this is not something that will hurt my phone or keep me from being able to restore a rom. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanksyall

I believe a nandroid only backs up your internal sd card. Its nothing to worry about. It wont hurt anything and wont cause any problems restoring a backup.
That means you don't have sd-ext is present on your sd card. EXT is simply a partition of a sd card so that you can dedicate the space to apps. Example, if you have a 2GB SD card and you partition your card to so that the 1GB will be available to apps. Other 1gb you can access it on explorer to store files, etc
Thanks for the info. How do I go about fixing it?

You don't need one....you aren't fixing anything.
EXT used to be used back in the days of the G1 because it had limited space. Now a days, phones have a ton of space and it is not really an issue.
OK. Still confused ...what do I need to do to have my sd-ext recognized.?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You don't need to do anything. Its OK because the phone already has enough memory. This is for phones that don't have a large amount of memory. For example, the HTC G1 had like ~85 MB of memory for apps. So one had to create a separate partition on the memory card, EXT 3 or EXT 4 with at least ~500 MB to store more apps. With this phone, we get about ~1.90 GB. So there is no need for that. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's attempting to back up something that no longer needs to be backed up because the information that was previously stored there is now being stored on your internal sd which IS being backed up. You don't need to do anything or worry about it, everything on your phone is being backed up except your external sd card (which no flash should touch and thus shouldn't need to be backed up). We all get the same message, it's nothing to worry about.
Wow lmfao this is comical xD answer the dude 3x n he still disnt get it xD
U want it fixed? Boot to cwm, Reformat sdcard, wen it asks for ext size put 512, swap size 0, issue "fixed" basicly useless tho on this phone, n the ext will probably b slower then the system storage, but u obviously want it to stop showin onn the log so there ye go, done
OK. Thanks for everybodies help.

galaxy ace, LG
could you tell me how to make a backup for apps on the sd card, my sister and girlfriend both have **** phones where they constantly run out of space or memory so they sometimes cant even receive sms messages, my girlfriend has a galaxy ace, she can't have to many apps because the memory is crap, my sister has a crappy LG phone which gives her really bad problems, how can i turn their terrible phones into half decent phones in order to release a bit of their sd cards for app management? any bit of help would be amazing, cheers guys

How I that that rom for gaming against nxt le because I use nxt le with a visualization mod wich makes it look alot better is gin2jb just gb themed to look nicer?
And haha how stupid of me not to realise that lol thanks mate
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app
Gin2JB is just gingerbread themed to look like Jellybean. It works well and gaming is smooth although I do experience bad lag on some games such as the amazing Spider-Man. Not sure how it compares to NXT as I've not used it.
Regarding link2SD, I got everything linked eventually by persisting but then saw that my 1.5GB partition was somehow full which I didn't understand. I don't get how apps could take up over 1.5GB so I decided to move everything back onto the SD card and try linking them again. Don't really know what I was thinking. This led to the phone displaying and having less than 1mb internal storage which meant I could barely do anything. I moved 2apps to the SD card from settings to free up some memory but I don't know why it did that as I already moved them to SD using link2SD.
Anyways, my problem currently is why my whole 1.5GB is being filled up? Why is it taking that much storage?
Sent from my R800i using xda app-developers app

I had a 2GB partition on my 32GB SD but this 64GB card is causing problems without a partition.
Is it normal for a 1.5GB partition to be filled up using only link2sd?
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Well, My partitions 2.5GB with only 0.9GB space left. So I think ive used 1.6GB alone. >.< I only have 404 apps altogether according to Link2SD (Including System Crap)
Thanks for the reply. Looks like i need to make my partition bigger then.
On a slightly related note, why isn't TB restoring my missing apps with data? It either fails or says the batch restore is finished yet i have nothing. I just need tetris and bruce lee as they can't be had from the play store

Can anyone explain me how we can use swap on buzz since our recoveries dont have that option?
What are the advantages?
Does it really burn sdcard or it is similar to overclocking burns processor chip?
Help is appreciated.

As said above it certainly degrades SD card life.I didnt loose any but mine 8gb class 6 sd card became so slow that copying a 70mb file used to take about 20mins to copy!
So I had to buy a new one,but yes there is a noticeable change in performance using swap. But just to get that bit of performance boost, you might end up being frustrated the other way,so not recommended.
Well i used swap Nothing strange happen with SD card... i used only 256 mb which is more than enough.
I used it with "system control pro" app, as it let you set swapiness, vf cache preasure and drop caches.
If you experiment with those values you can get something good. And also if you dont do it right you will get random reboot 1 times a day, or freeze sometime when it full that swap but does not drop cache... depending how you set it, you can get multitasking improved
If you have time try it. Sure kernel must support swap as you know it alrdy i guess...
Good luck :good:

So ever since I started modding this phone with custom ROMs, I have had an issue with almost every ROM freezing just a bit when installing/updating apps. It all started after installing Chemistry ROM, and then has been happening on every ROM I've been on since then (Paranoid, TPR, Goodness). It happens right after the app finishes installing, my phone is useless and frozen for a good 5-10 seconds. Has anyone had that issue and possibly know a fix?

Maybe something happened to your SD card?
There are lots of posts where wonky sd cards create some strange behavior.
I know there are some posts with the correct steps to backup your sd card contents, format it and then copy the contents back to it.
might be worth a shot.
I hope you get it fixed soon

Maybe your partition got messed up. I know it seems like a PITA but did you try to Odin back to stock and reset partition? Not sure if you need a special file for the reset of the partition though? Maybe someone can answer that before you proceed.
I would say to back up your internal and external sdcards and then reformat each one twice...then go into recovery, wipe everything and reflash your rom
I know its sounds like a long and annoying process, but in the long run your sdcards will perform better even if they arent the source of this issue
Here's a short video. You can see how I install the app and then it freezes and then all of a sudden "snaps back" to what I was doing.

Haha no problem, just download any app that will test your transfer speeds (read and write) a couple times, if quadrant tell you that then use that
What i mean when i say this is not that it will fix it, but it'll tell you if the transfer component is the issue behind why you're experiencing lag when installing apps. You can then proceed to fix it by reformatting your internal and external sdcards
OK so I downloaded Antutu and ran a benchmark for Database IO and SD Card Read/Write and got a score of 555. Is that ok? What do I do now?
