Help please! Noob here, can anyone tell me if flashing The People's Rom, for the Sprint GS3, on the SGH-I747, AT&T GS3, works 100%? Will the phone and mobile data work more specifically? If not are there any tips or tweaks to get them working? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you'd like a very expensive paperweight..... Please use the search feature.
GS3 is carrier specific. You may be able to get away with flashing a tmo ROM and changing APNs but a sprint or Verizon ROM would almost definitely kill your device.

Thanks for the reply. I've looked around for a version ported to the sgh-i747 with no luck. I found some noob guides for porting so... I guess I'll get started

Its possible but like he said tmo and at&t are similar but sprint and Verizon can be more tricky.... Just make sure you back up everything you properly. Ask the dev who made it some questions and most will help if you are just doing it for personal use and not for others.

Forgive me if this is a silly topic but I’m very anxious to find an answer. I’m interested in flashing an international ROM to my At&t SGS3 specifically Foxhound (I love Foxhound). Of course I know that the international versions of the SGS3 are different than the American version. But Im curious if there is currently a way to flash them safely anyway. For example with the SGS2 I know that using hell raiser allowed safe flashing of international ROMs. Thanks in advanced guys.
Do not flash it unless you want a brick. Currently there is no way of hell raising anything.

Hi, i have one question :
Where is the difference from TIM gs3 And gs3 I9300, because i have see two/trhee different categories of this device; ( T-Mobile, Wind, Mobilicity, Videotron Samsung Galaxy S III OR Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 OR Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III) )
What version of ROM Cooked i Can Install? how i can know what type is my GS3 ?
i can install this ROM [ROM][XXDLIB][28Sep]Soon Omega v27.1●►Omega Files Kitchen◄●Jelly Bean+ICS●►7 Theme ?
THANKS
I9300 is the international version and that ROM is for that version.
SGH-T999 is the T-Mobile version.
SPH-L710 is the Sprint version.
Go to about device or about phone and it should tell you under phone model.
Always make sure the ROMs that you want are compatible with your version or carrier and Do not flash ROMs for different versions unless you want to brick.

Install the ROMs made for your phone, unless you want a brick. How hard is that to understand?

Maybe he's new to this, no need for rude comments. All you have to do is point him to the right direction, not everyone knows everything about rooting and flashing ROMs.

I searched around for the differences between the I747 and I747M, and apparently it is the location... That brings up my question.
I got an I747M, but live in the US and am with AT&T. Should I be worried about anything?
Thanks!
EDIT: I have found that it is because I flashed KyanROM, which changed it from I747 to I747M. Is there any way to revert this change? I did try to change it in the build.prop, like a bunch of places said, but when I did, the phone would get to the Samsung screen the crash. I did a nandroid restore and everything was fine, except it is still showing I747M.
Nope.

Hey man, thanks for the info.
Is it common that this happens? Should I be downloading AT&T stuff, or I747M stuff, or are they the same always?
Thanks again.

So what modem would I flash? The I747 or the I747M?
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda premium
It is no big deal I am with rogers and I flash i747 ROM all the times on my i747m
If a flash aokp or cm10 it shows i747 but if I flash stock it shows i747m. It doesn't change your modem or anything.

Flash only modems that are for your carrier.
The reason I asked that is because Kyan ROM is based on the 747m firmware. It still works with the 747, but the build.prop shows it as a 747m.

Exactly. Look at the title in the Kyan forum... notice the M after the 747?.. so.. youve entered the world of ROMs?.. time to study!! Read read and read again my friend or youll get flamed like crazy around these parts. The answer to this question and probably all your questions are available in Kyans forum.. theres a thing called the OP that has all the info you need about the ROM you flash.. make sure you read it in its entirety atleast twice before flashing , sop. The OP is the very first post.. also, how to get around your issue and get the AT&T bloat back is also found in that forum.. theres a search function that will reveal all your questions and dreams.. its like magic except its just the search function.

Thanks guys, I feel a little bit better about it now.
I am only worried about the model number, because I can't download any of the AT&T stuff from the market because it is restricted from I747M's (as they are Canadian, and AT&T has no use on those devices). Is there any way to change it back to I747 and get rid of the M? @daddymatt, I have spent a good 30 minutes searching, and can't find any way to revert it.
I did try to change it in the build.prop, like a bunch of places said, but when I did, the phone would get to the Samsung screen the crash. I did a nandroid restore and everything was fine, except it is still showing I747M.
Also, I will give thanks when I can. I am at my current daily limit now, so no worries, I haven't missed you.
You will need to use a i747 based ROM.

You've just made a mistake editing the build.prop. keep trying. Just keep a good nandroid handy. I don't know the exact edits because i haven't the need to do it, but i know your on the right track.

I've tried so many things, I just don't know anymore. I have tried just about everything I have found online too. I am even doing a cache clear before and after changing it.
If you have a link or ideas of what to change, please let me know. I am about to give up because I honestly have no idea where to go from here.
I will give ya thanks when I can too, I hit my daily max :/
Try changing device id to I9300 instead of I747. It's the international version and will serve the same purpose. Don't know for sure if this'll work, but i think I've seen it somewhere else.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I don't think it will work. Att uses i747m not the international version
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
How many lines in the build.prop did you change? I had to change 4 in order to get Bell mobile tv working while running an AT&T rom. Try this, change
- ro.product.name=d2att
- ro.product.device=d2att
- ro.product.model=SGH-I747
- ro.build.product=d2att
This should make your phone think it's an AT&T phone again, remember keep a nandroid handy just in case...
I'm new to the gs3 just moved on from the HTC sensation. I have a question. Can we use the same roms from the international gs3 on this one? Sorry if this has been asked just couldn't find it

Only flash ROMs made for the specific carrier. If you flash an international ROM onto a T-Mobile galaxy s3, your phone will be hard bricked and the only way to unbrick it is to get it JTAG'd, which can cost around 60$.

most ATT roms should be directly compatible with little effort for our tmo GS3. However, do not flash an ATT modems, that will brick your phone for sure.
I also recommend you use TWRP, seems to be less issues with it. good luck and welcome
I suggest you stick to flashing only what you find in this forum. At least until you have had time to get used to your new device. You will run into quite a few conflicting reports on what does or doesn't work well with this phone. Give it time and you will figure out for yourself which are right and which are wrong.
We have plenty of roms and a number of ports from the other carriers so it really shouldn't be necessary to go flashing anything from somewhere else.
Use the other forums for reference, ideas, and learning more about your phone. If you find a mod or app you want to try, just ask if your not confident about it.
Good luck and welcome!
Oh, just fyi, the reports about the i9300 and i9305, are correct! Do NOT flash any roms or mods built for those! Guaranteed Brick!!

I came over from a Rooted Sensation, Think i recognize your SC from the sensation forums. It is night and day difference. You will be very happy. Also Jelly Bean update just came out today so thats a damn good was to start out!
I have an unlocked S3 for T-Mobile and want to use it on AT&T HSPA+ but when I do the phone is always running warm and battery drains. Is the fix for this to install an AT&T stock rom on it? Is that possible? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
You should continue to flash tmo ROMs only. The phone heating up should be an entirely different problem..
What ROM/kernel are you running? Are you over clocked? have you messed with voltage?
Just need a bit more info before we can help you. =)
