Does the ion just have one mono speaker? I have to admit the sound quality on the speaker is absolute trash on of the things I loved about my xperia play was the sound quality of the speakers it was actually mind blowing for a phone. Is there another speaker I could install in the ion or just anyway to make it not sound like crap.

The ion sound is like that actually...you can't turn the volume too loud or the sound will get distorted...I nust admit but my old mini pro got a better sound...

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else has this issue, I'm running CM10 and the music quality isn't too bad while running the headphone jack to speakers, ie my car, home. But when I plug my headphones and and try to play with DSP at all it always sounds distorted and sound like the headphones are blown, this only happens after I enable something with DSP, the headphones are fine. I also tested on my zune and my roommates Droid X2, both of which sound much better than my phone.
Any suggestions or solutions would be great, the headphones are sennheiser HD558's

DSP distorts the sound, no way around it. Try poweramp music player, it uses it's own equalizers and settings and has great sound.

Thanks I've always been hesitant to use poweramp, but I've heard so many people praise it, I'll try it out, I just don't want to leave Apollo lol

At first I only used it because Apollo wouldn't play certain file types that I had, loved it ever since.
I've been using power amp for two years and love it

OK I've been testing it and its great in the EQ setting the limiter is what makes the difference, it stopped music from peaking. Thanks guys

I've noticed the same thing on mine.
Its extremely loud. Ive noticed things sound normal if u put the volume like 2 notches under the max.. but still its rather strange. You think this is normal or defect?

It seems to be a general issue with the device. I exchanged my device because of this issue but I notice the same sound distortion when volume is maxed.

So same audio loudness and distortion with replacement phone? I guess its not that bad.. here at my job I put it on max volume and you can hear the music from quite a distance. The distortion goes away tho if u dont raise volume to max. Seems to be only with speaker because it sounds good with headphones.

I used sabsa Rom till the last day of use. Sabsa has crystal clear loud sound delivery esp. in-call voice call. Problem can be your voice call earpiece.

You could try formatting cache and wiping data and dalvik and flashing another rom. Or if you dont want to switch roms, apps such as volume+ are there to help!

There are quite a couple of audio mods for the LGOG, I would like to know which one do you guys prefer best?
I currently have the Beat audio mod but I only chose this I had great experience with this mod before.
Are the other mods any better?
Please share your comments.

I found that incorporating the beats Audio scripted in my old s2 always outrageously distorted the bass, even while using beats Audio headphones. Now I just use power amp and it does the trick

I tried so many mods like acid and beat but the best so far is power amp like kmull4 said. You get powerful bass and rich highs. It actually adds more power to those Hz.
I've only used Acid +nooxide and love it. As long as you don't push the effects too hard. The" wider" sound option is actually achieved by manipulating phase coherency which if overdone will result in some may nasty sounding audio. I'm curious about power amp. Are you guys dust using the built in eq settings on the app?
Ps: I'm an audio engineer so I'm always looking for the best sound possible
Yeah built in. Way better than DPS manager

For me yes. I've used a lot of music apps and I feel that this is the best one. Although in your case being an audio engineer, you might want to check out jet audio in the play store. It has more options to change the sound.

Are you really surprised that Beats distorts bass with all the artificial bass added in for no reason in the first place?

Lol no I'm not, but I read that some people claimed it gave them better clarity. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for me

Thanks for the heads up on jet. I'll check that it out for sure. The ui is kinda meh though but that's secondary to the sound IMO. I am really digging noozy player. Especially the podcast section. That's a nice feature.

I have really good headphones that support a high current/voltage. I put up the dB on the DPS manager and it gets distorted. With the poweramp it does make the freq. more clear and powerful.
Poweramp and good headphones are all I've needed for clarity. Even without fiddling with EQ the clarity is good.

I never used Philips earphones. I m using Sennheiser cx300-ii. Works pretty well, but doesn't have microphone.

well i have shb9000 philips bluetooth headphone (not earphone), and its good.
and the good news about that headphone, is when youre headphone is low on battery. you can plug in the headphone
with the wire included, then you can use it as wired headphone .
it has mic too.
