I have this issue where every once in a while where my phone get's stuck in landscape mode (which i rarely use). The only way i found to fix it is to turn off the screen and turn it back on, but it will eventually come back. So far i tried gyroscope calibration, cache wipe, and dalvik cache wipe but none were able to get rid of the issue. This is a fairly recent problem. It's been a week or two. any ideas for a permanent fix?
Check the screen rotation toggle on the pull down menu

I have this problem too. I usually have to reboot. I'm on AT&T, no root, Apex Launcher Pro. I downloaded a sensor test app and when the screen is stuck, neither the gyro or accelerometer appear to be functions. Reboot and all is well. Sounds like a software issue maybe?
I think my Note just get the mis calibrated problem. the stock camera keep rotating all the time. the others camera apps didnt rotate, but the final pic is rotated in random direction, even I turned off the auto rotation and keep the phone portrait. Can anyone give me some idea?

Did you calibrate the gyroscope on a very flat, level surface?
I dont know if anyone is facing the same problem I have now, my n2 screen wont turn off by itself. I have set the timer on 15secs, smart stay disable. It juz wont turn off when idle. And if its fully charged, it will stay up all night as well.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Does it relate to my Omega rom or Redpill kernel?
Thanks
Do you have motion on?
Reboot?

Check developer options, stay awake. Make sure its unchecked.

I was just discussing the same in some other threads here. I tried everything up my sleeves and nothing helped. Do post if you've already found a fix Thank you

experienced this after upgrading to 4.1.2 weeks ago. backed up everything, complete-wipe then reflashed my rom(always on stock). no more issues. must have been a hiccup.

I had this even when I was on 4.1.1. Thought the upgrade would solve it for me but it didn't. Tough luck. Still searching for 3rd party apps that could give me a permanent solution.

i noticed this problem sometimes with 4.1.1 but not with 4.1.2
I dun have a fix to this problem but I have a tasker profile that turns the screen off when battery is fully charged. You might want to try that as an interim.
What is your screen time out once mine was changed automatically check that

There's a button on the side for that
Just kidding, that's very strange. I noticed if you reboot the phone and don't touch it, when it comes on the screen never turns off either. Doesn't matter if it's plugged in or not.

I dunno if I'll be able to use tasker. I've not rooted my phone I'm still a noob and dunno if I can pull all that off on my own ^_^

I had that problem when using smart stay and smart rotation settings turned on in display settings. After I turned them off the screen shut off after 30 seconds as it should every time.

Yes I noticed when 'smart stay' is turned on it causes the screen to stay on all the time. It's not a perfect feature. So I've turned it off

do you have the power option to stay on whilst charging?
It's not smart stay, not the screen rotate with your head thingy nor the developer option that keeps the screen on while the device is being charged. I turned all that off. This is clearly a big that I've had from 4.1.1. Can't get rid of it. Annoyance at its peak.

Weird. That is annoying.

Are you saying that the screen just won't turn off, or that it turns itself on and then won't turn off?
If it's the first, my guess is an app which prevents the screen from turning off, didn't release its lock after being shut down. This can happen with some games, I've seen it with angry birds and jetpack joyride, titanium backup has done it too. Try to empty ram and kill processes, and/or reboot, though I would guess you might have tried that already.

If doesn't turn on on its own. When the bug kicks in, the screen doesn't go off if it's manually turned on or If a missed call or message is left unattended. Hope you got that. But yes, I can turn off the screen manually but doing that every time is ridiculously annoying. The bad thing is I cannot know if the bug is active or not without actually watching my screen till the timeout. Annoying bug! I've tried various things and I do not know what's causing this. I'm on stock rom, never rooted.

Ever since I went to MC2 (rooted stock) from LP7, this has been an extremely irritating problem. Every time I make a call, either through the dialer, or through Skype, once the screen times out, it can never be woken up. That means I cannot hang up the call or use the keypad, etc.
This is outrageously annoying. I have tried changing the inactivity timeout as well as smart-stay-awake but no matter what I am stuck with this stupid problem. Has anyone else seen this and know how to fix it?
Most likely a faulty proximity sensor.

Open your phone and blow air near the proximity sensor

Or just fix the motion settings.
I had the same issue. I had to unroot and take it to sprint 2 days ago and they replaced the screen and is good now
SGNote2
Anyone else having issues clicking install when you load a new app? The area on the screen works fine, its only when installing. I rotate the screen from portrait to landscape and back again to fix issue.
I have had this on several devices, but only if an app that overlays something on the screen is running. If you have an auto brightness app rubbing or something like that try shutting it off.
