Hey 1st time post so i was on CM 10 and i wanted to get CM 10.1 (cm-10.1-20130121-EXPERIMENTAL-maguro-M1) so what i did was wipe cache and dalvik cache and then installed the CM 10.1 and the gapps but when i started my phone i am only gettin 7.66 gb free space from a 16 gb nexus . So can someone please help me out and also i tried Formating after that but that did not help
Did you have music or movies on your sd card before you flashed cm10.1?
yea i did but i cannot find that when i connect my phone to the computer
Is there a 0 folder? If so that's where they'll be
no there is no such folder as that .There are just the normal folders that i get at the start after formating
Try installing DiskUsage from the Play Store, that'll tell you what's using your storage

storage card is 13648mib ,System Data is 5680 mib and Free space is 7625 mib

Cm10.1 doesn't wipe your storage, it just moved everything that was on the card from the last rom into a different folder. That's why it appears as if it's using more space than it really is. Try installing es file explorer from the play store and grant it root privileges. Go to root, there will be a folder called Data, and within that folder there will be a folder called Media. Everything you had on the card prior to installing CM10.1 should be there. At least it was for me.

Ok, here's my situation:

According to app2sd, i've got no more moveable apps, on my internal memory there are just 7 apps installed (Google Maps, Facebook, Vocal Search, Youtube, Gmail, Clock Widget, 3g Watchdog), but i've got just 6mb free (out of 150mb).
The thing is, browsing my internal memory (using for example Disk Usage, which i think is very user friendly), i found out that all the apps i've installed on the sd have a lot of data on the internal storage anyway.
For example, i've got Barcode Scanner installed on my SD, But it uses 545kb on my internal memory 600kb on the SD.
And another thing: when i browse to settings- applications - manage apps, i can see Barcode Scanner installed on the SD, but it says it uses 545kb (which is the amount of data in the internal memory).
So, is all this normal? 'cause otherwise i don't see the point in installing apps on the sd if they fill up the internal memory anyways.
Any idea? Any suggestion?

I have soff, a rooted rom. Many apps installed ans 120mb or so free memory. I think ans soff device is more flexible to tweak.

Ok, found out that the data not bein moved is mainly davlik cache and .apk files.
Now, although I already know the answer... Is it impossible to move those files, without root privileges, right?

That's right, you need root access in order to move any system file on the device to another location, such as a different partition or external card.

I've unlocked and rooted my phone.
I've created a 1024mb ext4 partition and installed Link2SD.
Moving all the apps to the partition.
Still, i found .apk files and davlik cache in the primary partition.
Any help? I though with root all my space problems would be over easyly :S
I did a 1024mb partition and used data2sd, I don't have to move app myself, the internal memory show my 1,150 GB...

update to rom 2.3.5 will actually free up more memory even you don't have the unlock your phone. For stock app e.g. facebook, gmail; if you happened to update it, they are unable to be moved to the SD card and occupy much of the internal memory. You can always use app2sd to move the other application to the SD card to free your internal memory once you've updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5, I think the HTC people have made some improvement in their latest update with regards to the internal memory issue.
After the updating, I haven't yet unlock my phone (as there was no suitable RUU for my carrier), yet I have free memory of 40 Mb on a 2.3.5 rom Vs that of 15Mb on a 2.3.3 rom.

Did you do MOVE to SD or Link?
Move to SD is just using the built in Apps2SD support which still leaves parts of the APK, all the Dalvik Cache and Library files still on your internal Data partition.
Link is what you want... There are a few apps like Link2SD that, for obvious reasons, won't link.
You are not looking to use the Apps2SD function. Link.
Also you will see ALL the apps and Dalvik cache files listed on the Data partition still but if you look carefully they are sizeless as they are simply "links" or shortcuts if you like, to the real files on your secondard SD partition.
You will also still see the System APKS Dalvik cache files unless you integrate them into the system partition using something like Titanium Backup Pro. This is as it should be. System Dalvik will not move to an external partition.
If you're rooted and have a recovery, just install DT a2sd. Once your find the file, flash it, go to terminal emulator in the phone and type
Code:
su
A2sd reinstall
your phone will do a hot reboot. Then go back in and type
Code:
su
a2sd cachesd
There will bet another hot reboot and you're done. You'll still lose some internal memory as time goes by, but that's because the phone will store the apps cache on you're internal memory still.

My description of my problem is below but, first off I want to say that I have made several searches on google, androidcentral, and xda about this issue and have found no solution. I have also attempted to trouble shoot the problem myself by fixing permissions, wipes, flashing backups, deleting really old backups, etc. I even purchased SD Maid Premium and deleted duplicates and ran the appcleaner.
I am running CM10. I use Titanium Backup and Clockwork Recovery Mod to backup my system and apps regularly. I was running CM10 with KT Kernel (and used KTweeker to undervolt my processor) but recently flashed a new CM10 nightly (with a fully factory data, cache, and davilk cache wipe) and kept the "baked-in" Cyanogen Kernel.
I got a notification that my internal storage was close to full (this happened right after making a backup using CWM, I was running CM10 and KT kernel at the time and had 4 additional older nandroid backups). So I went through my apps, pictures, videos, old backups etc and deleted a bunch of stuff. But I still had the storage full notification. I then wiped data, cache, and davilk cache, and flashed the latest CM10 d2att nightly and gapps4.1. Before installing any apps I went to check my storage in Storage Settings, Apps Settings, and SD Maid . In App Settings and SD Maid it showed 7.5gb used and 4.5gb free, but in Storage Settings it showed 0.4gb used and 11.6gb free. (In my research I found that this may be because my ROM (CM10) is odexed). I have done some exploring using Root Explorer and found that my /data file is 7.5gb, i have a file /storeage/sdcard0 that is also 7.5gb and a /storage/sdcard1 that is 2.3gb.
I have come to the point where I just want to fully wipe my phone and start over; i think it is called a hard reset. It would be more than a Factory Data Wipe, which I have done several times in Clockwork Recovery Mod and it always leaves behind 7.5gb of data in my storage. I dont mind loosing all my data, media, etc. It would be nice if there was a solution that did not require a "hard reset" but I am willing to do it if that is my only option. I am familiar with download mode and odin in case that needed for the hard reset.

You can go to mounts and storage in cwm and format everything. That pretty much wipes you clean. Fixed a similar problem I was having.

Will this delete a ROM (.zip) (that I would flash after the formating) from my /sdcard?

It's an issue between our GSIII and rom manager, go to settings, then storage, then miscellaneous, wait for it to load, select rom manager, hit the delete key. This will not un install the program it will however delete your nandroids backups.
From now on only make your nandroids while in recovery and always choose ext-sd for output.
This is what fixed it for me. Please let me know if it works for you.

When I go to Settings / Storage Misc pops up and says calculating... Then disappears a second later. When I try to click it during that spit second nothing happens

Cleared Data in Settings, Apps, Rom Manager. Backups are still there, I have one recent backup and a backup called "blobs" that I never made. Come to think of it, blobs showed up around the time the problem started. I read somewhere not to delete it though. What is blobs?
Also I'm still looking into formating /system /data /cache etc. Will that possibly brick my phone? Any tips?

I'm going to format /system /data and /cache soon but before I do I would love some feedback on if formating /system /data or /cache will unroot, brick, delete the zip I plan to flash after the formating (the zip is on my external sd) or any other pitfalls I could encounter by formating.

You're on cyanogenmod 10 right.
0 is the phones internal storage and 1 is the ext-sd
Btw why are you should probably ditch rom manager in favor of rom toolbox pro-if you do you'll get rid of those pesky blob files
I love rom manager for its ease of use but had to ditch it because it's blobs take up so much space on my gs3, at least until they update it to allow backups to be sent to the ext-sd. again.

Is there any reason to think that this won't work on the verizon version with cm10.1
i had an 8gb legacy folder after doing a full wipe and reflash.. just deleted it and everything works
I didn't notice this 0 folder issue until today. Up until now I was wondering why some files seemingly disappeared etc. Then I noticed too much space unavailable. This copy this over there and all that was not working so here's what I did:
Copy what you want to keep from internal sd to external sd
Get zip of your current rom and copy to external sd
Nandroid to external sd
Remove external sd from phone
Boot into recovery
Wipe everything, data, cache, dalvik 3x for good measure
Insert external sd
Reboot recovery (ignore no OS warning)
Flash rom (creates a clean file system and installs rom)
Reboot into rom and let it load
Reboot into recovery
Factory wipe, cache, dalvik
Restore your Nandroid backup
Reboot
Tada
/storage/sdcard0 is the mount path for your internal sd card. /storage/sdcard1 is your external. /storage/emulated is the location used for the emulated card in Android 4.2 for multi user support
I was running out space for new app so rooted (stock 4.0.3) and got a sandisk 32gb ultra microsd card class 10. I did MicroSD 2 Internal Memory Swap put the scrip file at /etc/ updated the rw and it work. Now when installing a app from a file or goole play store I now get an out of space error free up some space and try again. Tried with the org scrip file and the swap scrip file both give the same error. There is 887mb free on the internal sdcard with the stock scrip file. Can some tell me how fix the install problem I am now having?

Hmm forgot to mention cache and dalvik when you reboot.
Do the app data and caches, reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvik then see how it goes.

But I wiped my internal storage before flashing PAC-man 4.2.2, but now I keep getting a insufficient storage available on certain apps.and I have 7.19Gb's of space left on the internal sd. So I believe one of those questionable sdcard directories is making stuff go there then thinking I'm out of space of stuff.
Wiping cache would not do any of that to your apps. I'm not sure about your second question. On 4.2.2 roms, sdcard0 is internal and sdcard1 is external

Ok concerning the sdcard0 folder! If you went back to a TW Rom, and you now have that folder still there! Sdcard0 you can move everything (pictures, etc) from there over to the original sdcard folder. And then you can delete that other folder. And your apps shouldn't say anything about insufficient storage!
Same thing happen to my friend on here. And he had to do the same thing.

TWRP Format Data
Ooopsy crapola!!! Accidentally deleted my whole external sd card somehow. When I didn't even touch Wipe - External SD in TWRP...
Trying to hopefully recover all my files on my external sd card with MiniTool Power Data Recovery. -fingers crossed!-
Well now that the external sd card is gone what does Format Data do? Does it just format the internal sd or both external and internal?

I'm currently running an CM 9 on an unlocked, rooted Wildfire S. A while ago I created a 4 GB partition in my SD card (Ext 2 format I believe) and set link2sd to install all new apps to this partition (this is the tutorial I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=31544540 )
Anyway lately I've been having trouble installing new apps and larger updates (Facebook and DoubleTwist, namely) and my phone keeps telling me that I don't have enough memory. I tried wiping all my cache data and generally cleaning up, still no luck.
So I checked my storage usage in my settings, that's when things got interesting. My phone is telling me that I have 150 MB total of internal storage (which is how much there is without the partition), but somehow I have 229 MB used with 21.63 MB free. Doesn't take a mathematician to figure out that i can't be using 250 MB when there's only 150 MB to be had, however this 250 MB it's telling me I have is a lot less than the 4 GB of space I formatted and am linking everything too.
Does anyone know a way to get the phone to recognize the partition as internal space so it stops telling me I'm running out? I should be able to install any apps to my phone via my computer since they won't install directly from Google Play. Or is there a way I can set everything to just automatically install to the partition? That would solve my app installing problems but I might run into storage problems later on depending on how full my caches get. The more steps your give me the better, I'm still pretty new to this stuff :silly:

First of all, you can never use 4GB of your card as a partition Since there are some restrictions-- 100mb internal is needed for every 500mb sd-ext. We are getting around 100+ internal only for most of the ROMs , right? So you can use only around 600-700MB of the SD card as a partition.
Use min-partition tool and format your card and better make use of that card to the max. Format with ext4 (your choice) for around 700-800MB (Since 1/2/3/4GB is totally useless considering the above restriction) . After that, download and place this on SD card .
Before we go any further make sure that there are no scripts already loaded in that ROM you are using. (Apps2SD, Link2SD, etc). You need to have init.d support to make this work. This , you can verify by opening the ROM zip package and follow the path - system/etc . If you see a "init.d" folder there, then you have this support. All CM9 ROMs have this (I believe). So, now you make sure that the ROM whichever you are trying doesn't have any link2sd or apps2sd pre-loaded in it.
Then do the following.
* Put both the ROM and INT2EXT file on the SD card.
1- Goto Recovery.
2- Wipe Dalvik Cache, Battery Stats (Twice - Just to make sure )
3- Factory reset , Wipe Cache partition (Twice)
4- 'Choose zip from SD card' and select your ROM. Wait until it has finished installation.
5- Once Finished, again 'Choose zip from SD card' and flash/install the INT2EXT file that you have already placed on SD card.
6- Once done, reboot the phone. Goto settings->Apps and check if you have 'added' memory now
7- Go to recovery again and Flash GAPPS.
You are all set to Rock and Roll
Check this if you need more information
Hey, this will give you better space manipulation than the Link2SD, but still this is also limited to use, You can't fill all the internal memory. That will considerably lag your phone. Use the internal memory wisely

First of all, you can never use 4GB of your card as a partition Since there are some restrictions-- 100mb internal is needed for every 500mb sd-ext. We are getting around 100+ internal only for most of the ROMs , right? So you can use only around 600-700MB of the SD card as a partition.
Use min-partition tool and format your card and better make use of that card to the max. Format with ext4 (your choice) for around 700-800MB (Since 1/2/3/4GB is totally useless considering the above restriction) . After that, download and place this on SD card .
Before we go any further make sure that there are no scripts already loaded in that ROM you are using. (Apps2SD, Link2SD, etc). You need to have init.d support to make this work. This , you can verify by opening the ROM zip package and follow the path - system/etc . If you see a "init.d" folder there, then you have this support. All CM9 ROMs have this (I believe). So, now you make sure that the ROM whichever you are trying doesn't have any link2sd or apps2sd pre-loaded in it.
Then do the following.
* Put both the ROM and INT2EXT file on the SD card.
1- Goto Recovery.
2- Wipe Dalvik Cache, Battery Stats (Twice - Just to make sure )
3- Factory reset , Wipe Cache partition (Twice)
4- 'Choose zip from SD card' and select your ROM. Wait until it has finished installation.
5- Once Finished, again 'Choose zip from SD card' and flash/install the INT2EXT file that you have already placed on SD card.
6- Once done, reboot the phone. Goto settings->Apps and check if you have 'added' memory now
7- Go to recovery again and Flash GAPPS.
You are all set to Rock and Roll

Thank you so much for the post! I know it's been a while since the OP, but this worked perfectly! My phone now tells me that I have 705MB of internal storage. I believe all my problems have now been solved. I literally can't say "Thank you" enough!
