[ROM][AOSP][Linaro]CarbonRom Nightlies/Releases [d2spr] - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

About Carbon
CarbonRom is an aftermarket firmware based on the Android Open Source Project. We are dedicated to fast, stable, and feature-filled roms, honesty and communication with our users, and openness with our code. We like frequent builds, with the very latest and greatest hardware support and fixes. We strive to not only provide you with the best rom we can build, but also to give back to the Android community and our fellow developers. For us, this is about creating something we can be proud of and hope you will enjoy.
Please feel free to look at, build, and use our code on CarbonDev GitHub.
We would like to thank CyanogenMod for their device trees, framework/settings mods and their code that was incorporated into this project. We also extend our gratitude to the devs whose code that we have incorporated. Proper authorship has been maintained and can be viewed on our repository.
Special thanks also go to Slim Rom for some of their features, PA, AOKP, and anyone else we may have borrowed commits from that hasn't been mentioned here. If you feel you have been unfairly left out, please - let us know.
While we make every effort to test these builds as much as possible, we are not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, family, pets, or perception of reality. We ask that you do your part to know your device and know how to recover from problems before you flash! If you have questions, ask your fellow users or ask us in #teamcarbon on freenode IRC.
Features
Simply stated, we can't really list features here. There are too many and they change too frequently, and we now support a truly insane number of devices. Chances are, if you like a feature, we have it already. Seriously.

Both nightly and release builds are available. Please note that nightlies are for development purposes. Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Join our G+ Community: http://community.carbon-rom.com This is where we spend the bulk of our time and the best way to reach us and other community members. We update and frequent this community far more than XDA, simply due to time constraints and the convenience of G+.
5) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

Remember, every penny you send to us goes right back into the rom. It's used for hardware, server costs, etc - all the things that help us make Carbon better with every release. Your support means the world to us! If you've enjoyed Carbon, please consider a donation toward this goal. Thank you, and we hope you continue to enjoy Carbon!

Its using Googles Latest GCC 4.7.3 which include (almost) all of the same patches as the linaro TC...in benchmarking weve found Googles toolchain to outperform linaro's in fact...

So there was no use of -fno-strict-aliasing to get past the strict aliasing errors? No use of -wno to hide your errors and force the build to complete?
If this isn't the case then no, it is not fully Linaro optimized!

Audio seems to be typical of 4.2 roms so far, nothing special yet nothing bad. Over all the rom is very quick and very smooth and I am loving the Carbon!

Why make the claim if it's not?
If you bought a vehicle that said turbo then looked under the hood and there was no turbo then it's not a turbo. When you look at code you can tell if it is "patched" with linaro but not truly linaro. I haven't seen the code for this but I'm gonna bet that it's patched like a leaky ship!
Question about the rom...... Does wifi tether encryption work yet? And why does browser occasionally crash?

Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [d2att] » Feb 6
Just flashed, runs great! might be my new DD. Only thing I noticed was very minor. For some reason the notification quick settings tiles won't stay in the order you put them in.
Clean flashed: Wiped System, Wiped both caches, Factory Reset. Installed ROM and GApps from post, also flashed modified camera and SMS from Extras page.
Is anyone else seeing this?

After first flashing went to a black screen for a couple minutes before showing the bootanimation, had me worried for a bit lol. Nice bootanimation btw. Running pretty smoothly so far. Stutter when swiping between homescreens over a live wallpaper but I'm sure things will improve. I like the ability to change notification drop down background to a custom image.
EDIT: Just a note, I'm assuming tapping the clock in the notification drop down should go to the Clock/Alarm app but it does nothing. I'm assuming tapping on the date should go to Calendar app but it results in "System UI crash" and loses wallpaper lol. Smooth and quick otherwise!

it's a bit of both. it's a fork, but there's been a lot going on under the hood.
long term, we're probably going to abandon the code entirely. it's a bit of a mess.

Seriously.

Please be polite.

in case anyone is wondering, the delay in seeing the boot animation is due to added support for boot audio. we haven't included any in there, but if you want, you can do so by placing any mp3 named boot_audio.mp3 in /system/media.
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [l900] » Feb 6
Well, another great 4.2 rom that I had to stop using because of the mother %uc*in WiFi issue. Strange thing, when I first booted up, I had full strength, until a reboot. After that, 1 to 2 bars. I wish this could be figured out. Is it possible that some WiFi parameters can be changed in the build prop. WiFi scan interval or something. It just really blows that I can't use (& others) any aosp 4.2 roms because of this. But all aosp 4.1 roms are fine.
Sorry about the rant guys, I'm not usually like this, just very frustrated.

I would be willing to bet its the same kernel considering that kejar is part of the team. You could always check the kernel version in the build info.

I would think so too. That was the reason I stopped running the kernel with CM. There were some other reports of the leak too. Hopefully it gets updated

Anyone got navbar widgets working? I don't see the widgets option under the long press navigation button commands.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
This Rom is really well done. Thanks for bringing this to Toroplus.. One option I really like is that when I enable Expanded desktop I can choose whether or not the navigation bar goes away but the status bar stays, etc... Not sure if I've seen that option before, but I like having the status bar stay and use pie (LMT) when the nav bar goes away. Anyway, I've really enjoyed this one so far and thanks again!
Nice work, So far running excellent even on a dirty flash over Baked. Going to do a squeaky clean flash later today but couldn't wait that long to give it a try. Thanks!
Re: [ROM][AOSP][LINARO] CarbonRom JB 4.2.1 [toroplus] » Feb 7
Loooove this ROM.
I hate to be 'that' user, but I can not stand the performance settings you chose with this. I enjoy the standard CM performance settings because I can easily enable zRAM (Even though the Nexus arguably doesnt need it), along with KSM and the other features you usually see. Not going to stop me from using this ROM (thatd be silly), but maybe its just me who wants it
Anyways, amazing work as always, going to keep this on my phone for a long while

We appreciate you! I love the latest slim build, only thing is need the battery to last and wifi to stay locked, with most of the custom roms it seems to gray out after a while. Then you have to toggle it on and off. Annoying when you miss calls because groove Ip thinks you're still connected. Will check this one out though, yippe!
Looks real nice, gonna get on it. Thank you
