[Q] Why do my emails show the origin as "email.android.com" in the header?

Does anybody have an explanation for this.

Probably for the same reason that if you send an email through Gmail from a non Gmail account, you will see Gmail as the origin, even though its from an address like [email protected]. I have no idea to be honest, but it doesn't completely surprise me. You might want to see if it happens when using the built in client.

Thanks for your response. I would expect gmail as origin, when I send from gmail via smtp, but I never sent anything from android.com.actually I used yahoo. That's what puzzled me. Any other ideas?

I hate to bring up an old thread, but did you ever find out why this is? I've noticed this and searched and found no answers.

I am seeing the same issue with Enhanced Email, but it is configured to use my own IMAP servers for incoming and outgoing emails!
Has anyone come up with a resolution?

What is K-9? Why does the Identity make a difference?

K-9 Mail. The Identity has alternate From: email addresses.

I am using Enhanced email, sorry I should have clarified.
Why does K-9 make a difference? I have no problem installing and testing, but want to have my ducks in a row 1st

The OP referenced K-9. It's what I use for non-Microsoft and non-Google accounts.

What is listed for "Your Name" in your account settings?

but where that comes from is known of course

Ok, you are talking about the message header. AFAIK, you cannot control that. It's a function of the path the email takes from source to destination.

That may be... but if the "android.com" is not configured in the email client, why is it routing that way?

Did you send the email from the native Android email client?

[Q] [Request] fix to stop txt messages from appearing on the lock screen?

Looking for a way to disable text messages from appearing on the lock screen. I've been using vanilla lock just because i cant stand the fact that my messages appear on lock screen,is there a fix around for this?

i hate that too. suggestions.?

you can disable the notification on the standard messaging app by going in the messaging app, clicking menu and under received messages make sure the recieved notification box is unchecked

SteelH pointed this thread out to me before I got my EVO, so I put it on my todo list to look at once I received.
After taking a look at it today, you can certainly remove the notification message at the bottom of the stock lock screen that appears when using the stock messaging app as well.
The only drawback is, if you consider it a drawback, is that you end up removing ALL notifications at the bottom of the lockscreen, such as missed calls, text messages, etc.
If this is still something those who posted in this thread want, let me know, and I can post something up. I'm thinking a MetaMorph is the optimal solution, so as to avoid any other changes that you may have done previously to your HTC Lock Screen.

I agree, it would be worth having jschisurf! I'd rahter have none than to have personal stuff pop up on their. I have a few friens who can txt some inappropriate stuff for the workplace if you know what i mean.

Nice, I just put the vanilla lock screen, I like it better, her devs, can you tell me how too modify either the htc lockscreen our the vanilla one, I want it to say "Denton's phone" which is my name, so if it ever got stolen I could get it back plus it looks cool, any ideas ? I saw some andy kid with his done but he didn't reply back to my pm.

I have 3 emails on gmail. Need to use all of them.
Would you recommend to use them all in Gmail app ? or All in Stock Samsung mail app, or 2 +1 /1+2 ?????
Any advantages , disadvantages , battery life , data usage etc ?

Why on Earth would you want to do that?
I have 3 Gmail accounts (2 Apps for Domains, 1 regular Gmail) on my phone and use the Gmail app for them all.

I only have to set up 1 email account on my phone (I change roms a lot).. when on desktop I don't have to swap accounts to check mails. All in one place and it just works.

If the stock app is set up by Exchange Active Sync then you'll have push notifications.

I would go for the stock app. The problem I have with the gmail app is the font size. I tried my best but u cannot zoom text in and out. Landscape mode of stock app has nice email list on the left and email on the right. nice.
I use 1 exchange, 1 gmail and one normal pop3. So in other words I had no other choice
(No i do not want to combine them.)

The latest version of gmail allows you to pinch to zoom, but you have to enable it in the app's settings. I'm using the gmail app but only because I have modified the app's DPI settings using the xposed framework and the appsettings apk. This allows me to have a split screen mode in landscape mode just like the stock mail app.
If I was unrooted, I'd probably go with the stock mail app. It's natively optimized for our phone and plays nice with the s-pen.

Google completely disabled .zip file attachments in Gmail app on Android..
for me zip files are crucial , FOR THAT REASON HAVE TO STICK WITH STOCK MAIL APP

Did you completely remove the old GMail you had installed as well as Exchange (data/cache wipe as well for both apps)??

It MIGHT need some lib files just like Maps and YouTube, which I'm working on getting to work now, won't be a flashable though, you'll have to manually install them.

Just wondering if anyone has been noticing an issue with receiving emails promptly from GMail. I don't receive notifications from gmail even though I checked the notification settings and its also configured for push email.
I'm using the Verizon edition of the Pixel XL. Thoughts on this?

I get notifications for most Gmails from different accounts but definitely not for all incoming mails. No logic behind that by now.

It seems to me that The Pixel is not good in the notification department. Is not good with notifications of two paid emails apps, Aqua Mail and [email protected] Mail Pro. Its no good with notifications at paid SMS apps like Yaata. So I uninstall the majority of my paid apps and now use Google Messenger app, not my favorite SMS but with Yaata the coming messages looks weird ( check out the screenshot ). The Gmail app, as you said, no good with notifications. I'm using it and constantly opening it to check out my emails. I think that my Pixel XL is not friendly with third parties apps no matter if you bought them at Google Play Store.

Mine are really delayed.... they come... but a long time after they are actually there.
They also need to add the ability to set time and day restrictions to email notifications by account. For instance, I only want personal (gmail)email notifications from this day to that day and only during those hours. But my work Outlook Exchange email, I want notified immediately M-F 8-5 and keep them silent on weekends. Then I want all email notifications off at night between certain hours, and I can't use a do not disturb global feature because I need to receive important texts or calls.

I second this. Most likely a battery optimization and/or doze bug.
