Wiping dalvik cache? - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use link2sd on my Xperia Play (NXT ROM) and thought I'd wipe my dalvik cache in CWM. After doing so however, my phone booted but displayed the low memory warning and some apps were missing. I rebooted again but my phone kept repeating my boot animation and didn't boot. I restored a recent nandroid backup but was wondering if anyone know why this happened? Also, is there a way to restore only my dalvik cache from a nandroid and get things to normal?
Thanks

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

AW: Wiping dalvik cache?
Isn't there normally an option in CWM for this under Backup/Restore if you choose something like Custom Restore?

I don't think there is. You'd have to restore data completely if you want to restore the dalvik cache i think. In the end i ended up buying Titanium Backup pro and extracted my apps and data from a nandroid backup i made of the system

CWM backup messages

I made backup with cwm and now I want to restore only my sms when I restore data arc always resets at Sony Ericsson logo can you help me please?
try to wipe cache and dalvik cache in CWM then reboot..
Use Titanium Backup to back up only apps & data. You can restore whatever app you want without restoring other apps & data.
With CWM you create a whole system backup.

[Q] Noob Nandroid Restore Question

I know this is probably a dumb question but I searched and can't find the answer.
I recently flashed CM10. Before I did that I made a nandroid backup of rooted TouchWiz.
I want to go back to rooted TouchWiz.
Does anything special need to be done before restoring the a nandroid backup?
Or is it as simple as just choosing the restore option and then selecting the correct backup.
Thanks.
Just choose restore option then wipe cache nd dalvik cache

Wipe everything !
Go to 'WIPE' and select 'FACTORY RESET' then wipe 'CACHE' and 'DALVIK CACHE' then reboot and start your ROM from scratch.

proper restore

hey if I've done a nandroid how would i properly restore it as far as wiping before my restore? thanks
Same as installing a rom never fails me, wipe system factory reset wipe caches and... restore

Just restore. No need to wipe anything as the old information is overwritten, not merged.
You can either wipe or simply restore your nandroid without manually wiping partitions. I personally just like to restore as wiping is already being done. If you notice, while running the restore process each partition you selected is being wiped upon restoring that specific partition.

[Q] Dalvik Cache

I'm looking a automated way to wipe dalvik cache....any ideas
Umm why? The dalvik cache usually does not need to be wiped unless you are removing apps via file browser or terminal. As far as all your other caches (system, apps, etc) there are apps out that will do cleaning automatically.

Hmmm, I don't know any automatic way but there are two manual ways that are easy. First is through recovery mode. I use Amon Ra Recovery to do so. Usually the recovery has a section called Wipe. Be careful what you press in here. Second, is through an app called Titanium Backup. Only the pro version can do dalvik cache clean though. I bought it but I think you should stick with the recovery way.

Titanium Backup is a thought but it only gets rid of unneeded entries and doesn't do a true wipe like going into recovery. I was looking for something I could set up to run automatically once or twice a week. For me, my JB roms just run better if I can keep it wiped and was hoping to set something up to run during the night maybe twice a week.
Sorry than, I don't know any other way...
