I know this had probably been asked, but I searched and couldn't find it so I apologize in advance.
I have this icon in my status bar and I'm not sure what it is. It's the one to the left of the wifi icon. I didn't get a manual with my phone, so I'm unable to look it up.
Thanks in advance for your help.

As with any computer these days, the manual is online. You can download it from Samsung.
Don't feel bad, I had to ask too.

Ah yes, the infamous "Sideways Z".

I'm not seeing it either.
I can see them and reply in them, you might need to wipe app data.

You guys can just hit the refresh button on the bottom of the screen too if you don't want to re configure the entire application

OMG this worked!
I looked all across q&a and themes and the dev section looking for a mod to turn off the lights on the bottom of the phone. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a thread containing such?

Actually the link I found was dead but I found the old thread kbizzle had for his port of AOKP and it mentioned using root explorer to turn them off. I tried the method and now my buttons are off but the lights are still on. But I quit tinkering when I went to work.

Well ****aki. I saw the same dead link you saw. But I thought the device settings in aokp would shut them off like CM9 but to no avail they keep turning back on.

Correction, leave the setting checked in device settings and if u go to system/usr/keylayout and delete those four lines in sec.touchkey.kl and save then reboot, it will completely disable the buttons and lights.

Didn't want to disable the entire buttons just lights. But someone suggested to me enable the light with the checkmark then reboot, it's backwards for some reason.

Like the idea of a navbar, but I just can't do it when I have a capacitive buttons. Lol but that's apparently how to solve the lights problem, working for me so far.

Yeah having both is definitely asinine but I thought is was something different to look at for once. But either way I don't dig the lights or the fact it uses battery.

No need to have the mods remove it, and actual it is useful info. I would change the title to [Solved]Button Lights Off | AOKP
and then put in OP the way to solve those lights like i said.

What? On what rom? Stock? You got to give more info than that.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
Some roms have it some dont. Some stock some not. Itll say in the op if it has it. Itll be much easier to just browse the dev forum, than for someone else to do it for you and then come back here to post the link. Not being rude, but im using my phone and dont want to go back and forth over and over to list roms and links.
FreeGS3 has what you want. So do some others.

Do you not understand the word "custom"?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1750270
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826005
I've used both of those and they both have it. Look for quickpanel settings in the app drawer.
WTF, where in the first OP does it state custom? Sheez, if you are going to be a jerk about it, I am moving on. Good luck. And for your information not ALL have it.

The guy wasn't replying to you when asking about roms and/or stock roms, so you didn't have to reply to him asking if he knew what custom was.

Your is at least the second question on this subject today!
It does get very annoying to see these threads being opened almost daily, when a simple search will reveal the answer.

Dave
Note: Not picking on you specifically! Just a general observation that most newbies to this forum seem to be search-averse!
