I have PS3 Media Server running as the DLNA server on our network. Are there any plugins for the Walkman Video app that would allow it to render the output?
Currently, I'm using MXPlayer, but I'm always happy to consolidate my app collection.

Hi guys
I have recently come from the Windows mobile systems to Android (because WP7 is kack), I used to log into my Windows Home Server and stream movies from it to my phone using WebGuide.
This method doesn't seem to work on Android, does anyone know of any applications for Android or Windows Home Server which will allow me to do this again?
Most movies are home made and have been converted to .mp4 or .wmv formats but I do have a couple of .avi movies too.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Terry
I have had luck with the mp4 streaming server from the tools4movies website. Streams well over wifi and will do 3G if the quality is reduced enough. It might suit most of your needs
Never found an Android app and was considering a Windows 7 phone since it is supposed to work well with WHS V2, I have decided to stick with Android.

If you can install VLC player on your server, you can watch your movies with VLC S&C Free app for your DHD. You can play anything with that - mp4, avi, wmv, mkv... you name it.
This is probably old news now but for anyone who wants to know, I finally found an app that works.
It's called Subsonic, it works on port 4040 on your media center/WHS box and streams perfectly for music and video - it doesn't say that it supports video as it was originally designed just for music but it works impressively none the less.
Subsonic also has a trick up its sleeve which allows you to watch live tv directly from your tv tuner, from what I can tell this only works from Media Centre machines itself with a HD Homerun box which allows TV over IP.
I hope this helps anyone who comes across this article.

What media server is subsonic connecting to? I can't get it to see twonky
None, it just sits on my Windows Home Server and streams my personal music and movies directly.

Hi fellow defy users,
DLNA is great but the problem is my media player on defy cannot play most of the media files on my computer. Is there a way to add codecs to the DLNA media player or switch to an alternative player for playing the files? Or any suggestions for an app which can play media files on a network computer?
Thanks
anyone??????????????
I would like to kown that too...
Hi
I just changed from RCMix3D to Ice cold sandwich.
I have been using the feature to choose output in both gallery and music player, to send the pictures, videos and music from my phone to my XBMC mediacenter.
Is this feature a Sense feature? Or has it just not been ported in the ICS yet?
Does anyone know how to get it to play to XBMC?
Regards
Since HTC Sense own MediaShare used DLNA protocols to transmit multimedia to and from the phone, you can use any other DLNA certified application such as Skifta.
There are also another alternative such as setting up your own media folder onto your network. Therefore, XBMC can monitor the content of your media files directly without hassle.
Hello Xda community,
I'm looking for a music player that can stream .flac and .mp3 using samba server.
I tried Neutron MP but this app freezes everytime and samba server option doesn't work
However Samba server works great with Dice Player but it doesn't support music extension like .mp3 ( i get " no media file or folder" when i browse my music folders...)
Samba also works with ES File Explorer but we only can open one file at a time, i want to open an album playlist.
After few hours of search , i despair :crying:
What's about winamp, poweramp ? does it support samba?
Thanks for your help.
Can you run Subsonic on the server? Has a nice App and streams pretty much all audio formats.
http://www.subsonic.org/pages/index.jsp
Thanks for the tip but i can't install this app because it's a NAS running samba :S
What NAS?
I only ask as I personally use Logitech Media Server on my NAS and Squeeze player on my tablet for streaming music.
Squeeze player turns the nexus into a squeezebox player but there's no interface for control, you'll also need a squeezebox control app, the free version from Logitech will do. You can also use a Web browser that we control it, either on the device or any other device on your network.
Probably overkill just for a tablet, I also use proper squeezebox units in my house for multiroom audio, but it works very well. You could also run Logitech Media Server on a pc but that would mean the pc would need to be on to use it.
Squeeze player isn't free but it does work very well.
Logitech Media Server also has a DNLA plug in so it can also be used by any suitable DNLA client, i use Skifta for DNLA

Did you try Tonido. Tonido can play flac, ogg and mp3.
Try BSPlayer,
Not really a music player tho...
[N⁴][Motley][CarbonRom]
Root your tablet.
Then mount the samba share. Preferably inside the /sdcard folder, then many apps are able to access the share.
I use GoneMad Music Player, which is not only the best music app but also indexes the music folder(s) very quickly in it's own database (which persists when the music folder is disconnected).

+1 for Tonido. It works great. Plays anything I throw at it.
AFAIK, Tonido needs its own server... Don't think that's what the OP after

New 3.0 beta of ES File Explorer works quite nicely if you want no library but a folder-based approach.

Samba Network Music Player
Hey man you could try Samba Network Music Player - it was specifically designed for this purpose. Still in development but it works.
It scans the shares dir structure for you to browse faster the shares and also caches tracks or whole albums if you want to take the music to listen out and about. FLAC is supported if Android is 3.1+.

I use "bubble upnp" in combination with MXplayer to stream from synology media server.
I'm very satisfied with it; I stream HD all the time.
