[Q] CANADA Optimus G Telus phone unlocked, now no internet? - LG Optimus G (International)

Just hoping someone might be able to help us out here with an unlocked Optimus G it was locked to Telus. We used LG Unlock from the play store to unlock. Inserted Bell sim card and phone calls texting work and wifi... but if no wifi we can seem to get internet apps running.. theres no connection? like facebook or playstore for example... Any one know what the problem may be and be able to guide us in right direction? Thanks

The advice I got in another thread was as follows. Worked great for me. Hopefully it helps you. You need to add the appropriate APN for Bell's network.
Select Mobile network settings.
Select Access Point Names.
Press Menu to add a New APN setting.
Fill in the following settings:
Name: Bell
APN: pda.bell.ca
Proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
Port: 80
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http://mms.bell.ca/mms/wapenc
MMS proxy: web.wireless.bell.ca
MMS port: 80
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC : 302
MNC : 610
APN type : <Not set>
Press Menu and Save.
Click Bell to assign the new APN

Thank you verry much!

UK APN Settings

Hello folks,
I am unable to get a data connection to T-Mobile on my Desire (Unlocked CPW, possibly pre-release firmware edition) and would really appreciate someone with a T-Mobile supplied & branded Desire posting the APN settings that work for them.
My phone is set up by default as follows (there is a second APN configured for Picture Message, which I am yet to try):
Name: T-Mobile Internet
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set>
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: <Not set>
MMS port: : <Not set>
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 30
Authentication type: <Not set>
APN type: default
Thanks,
Edd.
You can get internet settings automatically by going to T-Mobile's website then "help and support" tab then "software and settings". Type your mobile number in choose desire then click GO!
Thanks for your helpful suggestion, but I have already been there and it tells me the following:
The number you have entered is invalid. Please re-enter.
Great, huh? That's why I'd like to know exactly what settings are going out on their own versions of the phone.
Edd.
Hi Edd, I have pretty much the same settings
under username and password use the following:
username: user
password: pass
I have user/pass working on mine and had these settings working on a Nokia N97 over the past year with the Web n Walk and Mobile Broadband plus booster.
UPDATE: Sorted now.
I just phoned T-Mobile to give them my PAC code (which arrived an hour ago), and it turned out that either they or CPW had not set up my account. By the end of the call, I had a 3G or H icon and everything working fine.
Thanks for your replies.
Edd.

[Q] Issues. YouTube does not work when on mobile network (3G HSPA). Works on WiFi

I have been wrestling with this issue for some days now. When I connect my Xperia Arc to a Wi-Fi network, absolutely everything works and plays. However, when I am only connected to the mobile 3G network, some apps won’t work. YouTube, Market, Weather, Maps, etc. will just hang there with a blank screen loading. I know the data connection is working when connected to the mobile network because I can use the browser, send and receive emails, sync contacts, etc. I can go to Wikipedia, for instance, and search for any topic I want.
In the particular case of playing videos from YouTube, I have the problem either with the app or if I try to play them directly from the browser on the YouTube site. I can search for the videos, get the thumbnails but it will not play them.
I am running LT15a firmware version 2.3.3. I have flashed back and forth 4 times already between the Rogers branded firmware and the generic north America one. I have tried hard resets (factory) as well. I have played with different settings when defining the APN. I am getting tired of re-entering all the settings over and over trying different things.
My phone is unlocked with a Telus SIM Card.
I will appreciate any help to resolve this.
Cheers,
The correct APN settings for Telus are (validated on android 4.0 ICS):
Name: Telus SP
APN: sp.telus.com
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: <Not set>
Password: <Not set
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: http : // aliasredirect.net / proxy / mmsc << remove spaces here
MMS Proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
Authentication type: <Not set>
APN type: <Not set>
APN protocol: IPv4
APN enable/disable: checked
Bearer: Unspecified
This settings were extracted from a Xperia Ray now available through Telus.

[Q] Lg p930 leaked ics and rogers

Hi there everyone, I am new to your forum, but I have been using various mods on various devices over the years. I recently acquired an LG Optimus lte(p930) that was originally on bell. I unlocked it and started using it on rogers. I got everything working just fine, but was unsatisfied with performance. I found the leaked ICS software and updated it, and I love it!(So much so that I am going to abandon my iphone 4s) The only thing stopping me from moving forward is that I am unable to get my mms working. Data is work fine, but not mms, I manually entered the apn's but I noticed something was wrong.
ame: Rogers MMS
APN: media.com
Username: media
Password: mda01
Server: 172.25.0.107
MMSC: !!!not allowed to post link!!!!
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
APN Type: mms
The server line for this is missing in the phone, and I entered it in the proxy, but that didn't work either. after so much more searching I found an alternate.
Name: Rogers MMS
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
MMSC: !! not allowed to post link
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN Type: mms
But this flat out does not work. some sites say it is used for both mms and data, and I just cannot get it to work. Any suggestions or known ways to get this to work would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I apologize as this is my first post if this is in the wrong spot, but I wasn't allowed to post in other area's of the forum.
APN: rogers_core_appl1.apn
MMSC: http://mms.grps.rogers.com
MMS Proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS Port: 80
*Do not add any other parameters!*
Open the browser, let it auto-configure to the point of browsing, restart, try MMS again. It *should* fill all the settings in automatically.
I just set up an unlocked Atrix on Rogers for my mom, this is what worked.
This one didn't for mms or data. I wonder if I have to set my account for it. At rogers that is.

lt28at - 3g not working

hi guys,
just got an xperia ion lt28at , 3g is not working on att, added the wap.cingular apn but i do not get a radio button besides it to enable it.
att pta apn is the only one enabled, i am on ics.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
The PTA apn is the only one you should have in there. Did you get the phone from at&t or where did you get it from?
Sent from my Sony Xperia™ ion
bought it from another xda member, it's the at&t version of ion, just updated to ICS.
just factory reset the phone, went to add a new apn with the defualt one not enabled, and when i added default att hspa settings to new apn, i did see 4g in the notification bar but as soon as i saved the new apn it was gone and I can't enable the newly added apn.

If you factory reset it or flash the stock at&t ics and have an at&t sim in the phone you do not need to input any apn as it will download the settings for you.
Now if you did not have a LTE plan before getting the ion you will need AT&T to change your data plan to an LTE one. This does not cost anything extra and will not change anything other than allow you to use LTE. Even if you won't be using LTE in your area you need the LTE plan.

Thanks for the information dude ..

just called at&t and they activated the phone on my account after asking the IMEI and data is up and running now .....
What if your on a prepaid plan and your unable to get the lte data , say like you have a go phone and use the sim you have in the att ion , is there a apn that acutually work's , I have the att ion and can't send picture 's , and have the apn set to wap.cingular and still no send pic's , have tried multiple apn's with no success can send text but just can't get the data to activate

That looks right. Might be an issue where you need an LTE enabled plan. I know when I had the Lumia 900 I couldn't do data till I got the LTE plan on my account even though I wasnt iin an LTE area.

yeah , it send's pic's but take's awhile , I been planning on going back with a contract plan , so when I do it will more than likely correct that problem , lol , but i got this one to root but when i did the ICS update it locked the phone, So I can't root it . Waiting on a thread to come up so I can root it , this phone has truly been a challange , lol

The LT28at is easy to root. Just use bin4ry's .bat file after manually installing the backup & restore app
Ok Update on my data issue's , I flashed the generic international firmware to my Xperia Ion the Lt28h , and doing so I was able to enter all four APN's from a Motorola Atrix 4G.
Once I entered the APN's it showed my data working and now I am working on non LTE data , all four APN's I used are entered below , thank's guy's for all the help.
