Did you even care to read the thread a little bit, i read the last 2 pages and it says you don't have to full wipe. Install the Rom over the old with only a cache and dalvik cache wipe !
Spoonfeeding all the way :banghead:

[Q] CM7.02 update question

Hi everyone,
When upgrading from CM7.0 stable to CM7.02, do I have to do a full wipe and install or can I just install on top of it and keep all my apps and what not?
Thanks
You don't need to wipe at all. Just flash the rom over the top of the old one.
Some people wipe cache and dalvik cache between flashes others think its a waste of time.
The only thing I would suggest is to flash manually through CWM rather than ROM manager.

When to wipe cache and dalvik cache

Hello people!
Have searched the forums and also tried googling but have not found a certain, conclusive answer to my question.
The question is when do we have to wipe the cache and dalvik cache?
I know what to wipe when flashing a new ROM but what about radios, RILs and kernels? What do we have to wipe when flashing the above so as for the phone to run optimally? Before or after flashing them?
Thanks in advance
Developers of the rom will tell if a full wipe is needed , if your updating. If your coming from another rom, you need to perform a full wipe.
No wipe required when flashing radio, Ril and kernel.
If you are going to perform a wipe you do it before you flash anything.

You mean you don't even have to wipe battery stats when flashing a new Radio?
I thought otherwise but I am not certain...
Anyway, thanks for answering
As far as I know you don't need to, the only time bat sat are recommended to be wiped is when flashing a rom and you have battery issues. But others say wiping battery sat doesn't really help with battery..

How to flash a new ROM

Hey guys, I just bought my Galaxy S III, I'm coming from the S II.
On the S II, there would be an installation process that I remembered by heart after flashing several times:
Open CWM
Backup
Install Darkside SuperWipe
Flash ROM
Flash gapps
Install Darkside Cachewipe
Reboot
Wait 10 min
Reboot.
While I've been on the S III forums for the past 2 days I haven't seen any of the devs have an installation guide, I figured I might have to wipe dalvik, wipe data or something but haven't tried just yet. Maybe I could just flash ROM over it.
If there's a process can someone please tell me.
Thank you, greatly appreciated.

Backup
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Wipe data/factory reset
Install ROM
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
Reboot (unless u need a kernel then see below)
Some ROMs require to flash kernel in that case after the last dalvik wipe flash kernel then wipe cache and dalvik.
P.s. u posted in the wrong section and u will here it from more than me this should be In Q &A hope that helps ya tho....

Superwipe , wipe cache and cache/dalvik install ROM and then gapps if your installing a jb 4.1.1 ROM then I would wipe everything again and then fix permissions and reboot, wait 10 min and reboot again
Please correct me if I missed a step

So does SuperWipe work for every phone?
My .zip file for SuperWipe says SGH-T989_Darkside_superwipe.zip
I would not use the super wipe script from The s2 I believe there is one floating around for ours but I do not use it ... I also recommend u use twrp recovery instead of clockworkmod

This is what I did 2 days ago to install AOKP JB Build 3 and its been working like a charm
Reboot recovery
Wipe data factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Flash rom
Let the phone sit for 5 mins then reboot
Haven't had any SOD or RR, should I stick to what I did?

yeah my bad...i also flashed gapps..i forgot to put that in there..
So, should I just stick to what I did previously?
I depends what u are looking for in a ROM..... if u like stock aosp then aokp is probably the most stable but there are tons of features on touchwiz ROMs that have me going back and forth... so its all preference really if u like stock jellybean
Then u are good where u are

Either you underclocked by mistake
The way to solve this prob is to reinstall the rom, because cm10 roms aren't laggy at all
When I boot in bootloader some things run 1 says no image second says wrong image and after 3-4 of these no image there is also a same thing wrong image is that thing making my phone lag ????

its my first time flash so please check i was wrong in some way ???
1. installed cwm recovery and made backup
2. rooted
3. then copied the rom and gapps in SD card
4. rebooted in bootloader fullwipe/factory reset and by mistakenly done wipe devlik and the install the rom and then gapps without rebooting
then wrong my device started and then it stuck on welcome screen (dont know where were the option in the rcovery to reboot in bootloader)
then i reboot in bootloader and installed the kenel mistakenly (boot-HELLBOY-CM9-201212011716)
the i used the recovery restore the stock rom flashed with the stock kernel as i found it in some topics
and then my device started with the stock rom
6. then once again i started to install the rom gone to bootloader then full wipe then install ROM and just after that GAPPS and then VOLUME DOWN AND POWER BUTTON KEY to reboot in bootloader
7. Fastboot then inserted the phone in usb then flashing with kernel. Kernal name (boot-HELLBOY-CM10-201212011716)
8. DONE
please reply fast

Its like this son...forget about formating the system, bla bla...just do as i say
1.go to recovery and backup your current Rom(if you already didnĀ“t)
2.wipe data/factory reset
3.wipe cache
4.go to advance and wipe dalvik cache
5.go back-install zip from sd card-choose zip from sd card(Rom of your choice)
6.install zip from sd card-choose zip-gapps
7.reboot system
during the boot animation press down the power until it goes black and hold it and press volume down to go into bootloader
8.when those wrong images you see ends, choose fastboot
9.plug in your usb to pc and to your phone
10.it should say fastboot usb-now you can flash the kernel (boot.img) specific to the rom that you flashed before
when its done reboot and enjoy.
dont worry about overclocking now as these kernels are set to work out of the box(you can play with them later)
For easier kernel flashing go check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1676686
Hope i helped.

[Q] Custom Rom Flash Question

I have CM10.1 installed, the M Snapshot build 20130121 and I want to flash the newest M Snapshot 20130304 onto my phone. Do I have to clear the cache and everything and then restore all of my apps via TiBackup or can I just go ahead and flash this new rom and go? I've looked in the search and nothing really helped with this...

You can clean flash. (Wipe cache, dalvik, factory reset and wipe system)
Most people dirty flash (wipe cache and dalvik)
Dirty flashing can potentially cause some small or large issues but not always. If dirty flashing leads to issues do not report anything without doing a full wipe and a fresh install.
Make sure you also download the latest gapps that came out after the first stable cm10.1 it's made specifically for 4.2.2
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Since you're simply just flashing an update (not changing roms), you can flash the cm10.1 in recovery, wipe cache, dalvik cache and reboot. This will not erase any apps or data. Always consider making a backup before flashing if you don't have an up-to-date one on your device. Cheers
