[Q] Advices to speed my phone - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i would like to know any advice to improve the speed of my Xperia Play. Sometimes i got lags and when i play heavy games like Max Payne or GTA it reboots. My phone settings are:
Stock GB rom 2.3.4
Lupus v5 kernel
Xperia Mix theme
Root and unlocked bootloader
No frills CPU with min. frequency 245 MHz and max frequency 1,2 GHz
Stock micro SD card with a second ext2 partition of 2gb and 6gb of primar partition (4gb occupied and 2gb free)
Internal memory: 169mb free
Ram memory: 120mb free
Can anybody give me some advices to speed the phone, without changing rom or changing the stock rom with another GB rom liveview-compatible?
Thanks in advance!!!!

Your already running stock with a good kernel. Only other thing is overclock it more and maybe get a faster class 6 microsd. And change your i/o scheduler and cpu governor to a more performance based one.
Use a program like LBE Security Master to block programs from auto starting and clear ram before you start the game.

You can try to debloated application to get more memory free.
Upgrade to lupus v6 and enable zram ?
install seeder apk from this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987032

Is there a way to have ubuntu on the gio?

hi.
Is there a way to put ubuntu on the samsung gio?
I mean running it in a terminal and then connect to it via VNC.
I tried it with a tutorial on youtube but it didn't work!
Please help me i really want my gio to be a laptop
Greetings
Punkerbruin
Did you know??
System requirements of ubuntu is
1 GHz CPU (x86 processor (Pentium 4 or better)) <== you GIO is ARM processer not X86 processer
1 GiB RAM (system memory) <== your GIO not have enough ram
15 GB of hard-drive space (or USB stick, memory card or external drive but see LiveCD for an alternative approach)<== OK you can use 16gb or 32gb Sdcard
800 by 600 screen resolution <== GIO is 320*480 it not enough
information form

sorry for my bad english

Its possible, Because ubuntu has more than one version.
e.g. ubuntu 10.04 can run on a ARM processor (with a little bit of tweaking) and on a 600Mhz processor (and 120mb ram) and thanks to CM7 and other roms we can overclock our gio to 1Ghz
Think about it...do you really want Ubuntu on this small display...makes no fun I think how do you want to work on this, it lags all day on Galaxy Gio.
Written with Swype Beta on Cyanogenmod 7.2(GT-S5660)
It's possible but hard to do...

It's too hard to do it......
I don't even know if you'd be able to find drivers to make Ubuntu work on the device (e.g., display drivers for X11...)

Is it possible to change partition sizes on Arc?

Now that i've finally gotten around to unlocking my bootloader & playing around with custom ROMs, i'm wondering if it's possible to resize the various partitions in the arc's internal storage, to reclaim some of the now unused space in the cache partition (since youre not going to be doing OTA updates on a custom ROM) and the system partition (if you install a cut down/minimal ROM) for apps.
On other phones (e.g. HTC Hero, HTC Desire) it's been possible to achieve this for quite a while now. Had a look around the arc forums but cant see anything that even hints that this being looked at for the arc.
Is it something that nobody's got around to yet (the arc is obviously newer than either of the phones mentioned above, and there are a lot more phones about now, diluting the pool of available geniuses to work on this sort of thing), or is there insufficient information available, or is there something about the arc's hardware that makes this fundamentally impossible?
I am pretty sure this is protected and can't be touched, although Sony allowed the bootloader to be unlocked they still keep some things locked.
I am not a dev so maybe proved wrong.

I can remember that when arc was new on the market, some devs tried changing partition sizes for CWM, and they bricked theyre devices with it.
so yes repartitioning is possible, but i don't recommend you doing so cause doing it could totally brick your arc
Not to much, what can you do is, link dalvik-cache to SDCard.
We could reclaim about 250MB of space!!
Some devs know how to do it for sure. As they do it for x10.
Flashtool devs should be your targets.
My HTC Desire running cm7r2 hboot table right now.

Bumping up this question. Is there no working way to do this after many months? Say for my Arc running on Arconium 8.2:
System ROM : 419 MB (201 MB free) = 620MB total capacity
Internal : 440 MB (118 MB free) = 558MB total capacity
Overall TOTAL : 1,178MB
DESIRED:
System ROM : 419 MB (77 MB free)
Internal : 440 MB (242 MB free)
Basically reduce the overall system ROM capacity from 620MB to 496MB, and the free space given to Internal (558MB to 682MB). The overall total remains the same of course.
Any way to do this? Or I am basically stuck at converting user app to system app in order to maximize the capacity?
I don't think that would be possible... Try rooting your phone and install clockwork mod... In tat you could partition your sd card say 500 mb and make it as internal memory via link2sd... Search in arc forum...

Your first calculations are wrong. System ROM has 201 MB free out of 419 MB, and Internal has 118 MB free out of 440 MB, so max is 419 + 440 which is 859 MB. The 1000/1024 difference, you get the 1000 MB of flash memory (hardware) on your phone.

That's correct.
Table can be changed if someone can break Sony's encryption keys.
My HTC Desire runs on changed partition table (cm7r2).

i see, thanks for pointing that out. in any case, i can't do anything but do convert to system app to maximize the usage.

kernel with swap

i´m need a kernel with swap to extend the ram memory, i try that-- http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1319816 -- the 3.0 kernel and i try with swapper but it dont work... i dont know if the kernel is right or i wave chose another?
i want see tv online and the memory ram isn´t enough i need a litle more

{PRO} after installing CM 9.0 its showing less ram?

Hi, like in topic - i've at last installed CM 9.0 FXP 130, but when i enter system info its showing only 360MB of ram, instead of 512 (SEX PRO got 512 as far as i know).
Why is that happening? Is this bug, or i don't know something?
I think you can allocate more RAM to your phone...
That's not bug/issue. 360 mb is user-available from 512

Recommendation for ICS And all other GB Roms

Guys I think everyone tested ICS 4.0.4[BETA6] ,well there are a lot of bugs yet to be solved (thanks for Team PECAN) to do such a good job .well incresing RAM memory is not a big issue i think you all know it but still iam posting this thread so that those who are using this ROM for daily use may not have any problem related to RAM uses .
So by this tutorial you can increase your ram memory
Requirements : 1) Swap it ram expander which i think u can download from 4shared.com - free file sharing and storage
2)Free memory in your SD card upto 2 gb ,well using swap it 2gb is the maximum limit for increasing ram (yeah u can expand your ram upto 2gb )
3)well as we know Rooting and all stuff so iam not writing about all these things .
Steps
1) First of all install Swap it ram expander
2)now open application and in my case i gave 512 mb for expansion u can give upto 2 gb as your wish
3)then tick Swap active and swapiness 90
4)u can tick the Autorun option too if u want to use it after reboot and all stuff (well who doesnt want that )
5)Download Link SWAPit RAM Expander v1.2.1.apk - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download
well after these steps you will get notification that swap it is running !!!!
ENJOY
After performing these steps you will be able to get 72 mb of free ram in ICS which is good enough .
If any how i helped you Press Thanks !!!
