We used to have brilliant dev in htc old gene device,we had Android run on it, though some drivers was missing,but gene has small ram.A Russian did a workaround, he had disable the camera driver on boot,rather calling it when required, saving ram.So i think we can do it.

If it's coming with ICS, the processor and ram are really gonna be higher than Y, and no doubt, the price must be similar to a Galaxy Ace or something like that....

Actually that phone runs on 850 mhz i dont know about the ram though

Look at it. Its not like gy..
It just the screen that same. Proccesor, ram, Height n Weight are not.. it even has a ics button in it touchscreen..
So i think it hard to port..
But we still have hope..

It may be hard to port, but we will get many required files like graphics drivers and all.really a blessing for broadcom users .

there is nothing big thing on ics..
if we got ics we won't find the speed that we r getting on GB. it will lags much cause we don't have much ram.
but wait untill broadcom relase there driver for sgy...

guys our galaxy y is powerful enough to run jellybean 4.1.1 but samsung has locked everything
i.e, All ARM11 Prosessors graved on
[65 nm digital CMOS process] can
really support 1Ghz &+
and the videocore 4 gpu can handle video playback upto 1080p and is extermely powerful
so we should force samsung to release the jellybean for galaxy y
and also galaxy y has millions of users in aisa alone

i have tried to make cm9 but
have lot of bugs like wifi not working
colours are swapped etc.........
its due to lack of driver support from oem

The development for 3 of them are almost the same.
Go for ace if you want the speed, and go for mini if you want the stability.
Personally, I'm galaxy mini user.

Well its just a phone man! Its meant for talking,texting etc. Still 70% people in the world buy a phone without even knowing how broad android branch is. Iphone has no dev but still its in market... Back then wen i bought this phone, i knew abt all this stuff but I didnt care about it much cuz the main purpose of buying a phone was getting solved for me. I just wanted to socialize using it and I can do it without rooting my phone.. It depends from user to user why they want a phone.. U r a real developer so your major purpose is making things for it but m a 15 yr student and I need my phone only for flirting wid gals n talkin wid em.. But now I would definitely look for its development before buyin it.. Remember. There are still people happy without hacking their phone..

aaah even if we don't root android is customisable to some extent but that is not the case with iphone users most of them do jailbreak ! and iphone has lots of devs and tweaks like cydia etc etc etc etc .... in fact many ! Since ios is closed source they can't split apart every bit like we do but they still make most of whatever loopholes they get !
@OP upgrading sgy to any of the three devices won't be much of an upgrade ! I would suggest you save up some more money and look for maybe the new xperia line up or ace 2 etc ! And if development of sgy is what that is bothering you then i must say that we have all the development happening here to get most out of our little y and when some day broadcom comes up with drivers then we'll have even more !
My point is you need not upgrade for the cause of lack of development but if you want a better smartphone then you may !

but you can never argue with me when i say you feel special because u know something that others dont,
and people who know nothing about flashing would go like, you're awesome!

Galaxy chat is a lot more powerful than y bcoz it uses a armv7 processor has more ram and more internal memory

There is no spec limitations of our sgy to get ics,jb bla bla...
if you check galaxy mini or ace forum,you will see that they have perfect ics/jb rom.but ace=sgy and mini<sgy in specs.....
We just need broadcom's driver source for get those...if we had adreno or qualcom GPU we would already running ics/jb,cause adreno and qualcom is open source...
I hate, why samsung put broadcom chip into this device..

I agree with Anin.. This guy doesn't had any grand and also Don't know about grand specifications.. A110 has 512mb ram . jellybeans required 1gb of ram for better performance..
