They have to release the samsung galaxy s4 before the note 3 I'm thinking the note will come out around july or august.

Thought about that, but the next sg3 is the lte version ( for tmobile) the note, is more for bleeding edge types, while the sg3 is more mainstream, and not as important technology wise. I also believe that an army of notes would make the I phone look absolutely puny. If anything, call it the note 2 HD.
Also, all the phones in the superbowl commercial were notes, not sg3's.
I would feel bad for anyone who bought a note 1 in October though.

Actually, some samsung reps were saying that note 3 might be out before the s4 this time. I cant wait for whenever it comes out, to see the octa core, 4 cortex a-15, and 4 cortex a-7; running in harmony which will be saving use about 70 percent more power saving. Also be able to aupport the 13 megapixl camera, this note 3 is going to be a beast, also hoping to see the flexible amoled diaplay, which will make our screens even stronger; since its not gonna be glass anymore.

I'm not one on speculation either, but I do have a feeling that Samsung would do a full court press to give a massive blow to apple, while they have momentum, maybe a now 3 before the 5s, and the gs4 at the same time or immediately after the 5s to steal sales.

I was assuming that for a while as well, but the commercials, with all 3 people with a note, has shifted my thinking. I'm happy with my n4, for half the price of a note 2, but a note 3, would get me to switch. I can't forsee a note 8 being "the next big thing" cause it would be chasing Apple, not upstaging them.
The fact that I'm actually thinking about it, means I'm in the target range of their ad campaign.

I returned my GS3 in order to get this phone. With all the quad cores coming out I felt that staying with a dual core would be a bad choice for my first android device. In reality it is all a matter of preference, I plan to use the s-pen in my college classes.
im doing it!
someone will buy my GS3 for $400 or so on craigslist. So i'm buying the $650 no commitment price and i have $100 gift card at best buy. so itll be $150 to me.. no biggie

I've got the same debate going on in my head and it's compounded by my sons (both CompE grads) urging me to get the Nexus 4. I've been enamored with the Note, since the original came out. I'll get the N2 on the 9th and use it for 3-4 days. I'll know at that time, whether it's the right one for me. If not, I'll return it and get the Nexus.
didnt they leave LTE off the nexus 4? That's a dealbreaker for me

I sell phones. I play with both and own a note 2. It's a personal thing, but if you are a power user, which I think you are because you are on XDA then you will LOVE the Note II. Once you use it you can't go back.
* The screen is so much better and brighter than SG3.
* jellybean and 1.6GHz Quad Core processor makes everything buttery smooth
* watching youtube videos are stunning in HD
* extra large screen is great for gaming! especally on emulators.
* Using it as a E-Reader for my Kindle App Books work superbly well as the screen is the size of a small paperback book page

If it's in your budget, get the note 2 now and wait a month or two after the S4 comes out to see if it's worth getting and not plagued with issues. Then sell the note 2 and pay the extra 150 dollars or so to get the S4.

The multi-view is amazing for multi-tasking. The phone is ridiculously fast stock, I can't imagine over clocking, and the battery has lasted me close to two days on normal use.
The S pen is also pretty fun to use
Yeah so wait for the S4 to come out oh but it doesn't have S-Pen functions oops now you find out the Note 3 is about to come out then you wait for it but oh the processor is not as fast as you'd like it to be so then the Note 3 is out but the S5 is announced oh but it doesn't do my chores for me then oops the Note 4 is announced so let's wait for that oh but it doesn't make me look thinner... then the S6 is announced...
Unless you have an unlimited pit of money, you shouldn't worry about new tech or getting the latest and greatest (because the latest and greatest gets unseated tomorrow). Pull the trigger, experience what ever pulls you towards it, then wait for another upgrade price to come around since the tech will always be newer, better, and more expensive.

It will all depend on the specs. If it gets wireless charging, way better processor, 2gb ram, 32gb internal memory, same or better battery that's removable and better features plus the ones I currently have then yes I may sell my note 2 for the gs4. But it really has to impress for me to go through the trouble of selling my note 2 and buying the s4 at full retail.

It remains to be seen if the footprint of the phone gets bigger with that extra .4 inches of screen; it may be the same size! That'd be cool. But regardless, the S4 looks boring and it'll be more than 2 years until 4 cores of processing will not get you where you need to be. 8 core phones are something that I completely do not care about, I'd rather they put that effort into better design materials.

See no reason to switch to S4 myself. Except for the full HD screen, but at the risk of losing a .5'', SPen and awesome 3100mAH battery. There are more features, but most s/w features will come to N2 eventually, so I don't think it's compelling enough to make a switch. If I wanted FHD display that bad, I might have switched to HTC One or something.

The only thing I would buy next is a Note 3.
If you don't care for the S-pen, you can consider the new LG Optimus G Pro looks like a beast.
I'm waiting for the Note 3 and then I'll decide which one I'm getting next.
not bad ..

Honestly, wait for the Note 3. Most of the S4 features would probably come to Note 2 . Fingers crossed

As above. Samsung already said we would get most of them. Other than that the note 3 in October will be both bigger and better than the s4. Personally I'm done, I've been through so many phones over the last three years and I'm tried of constantly updating. The Note 2 is the first one that I can say I'm truly satisfied with. I'll only be updating every two years from here on in which means note 4 for me.
Sent from the mighty Note II.
I like the looks if the new HTC but as it's far from offering the Note 2 features, I stick with my Note
