Merging Google Accounts? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Okay when I flash a new ROM I allow it to automatically restore apps I have on Account A, we'll call it. For some dumb reason I have half my apps installed under "Account A" and half under "Account B". Is there any way I can merge them all into one account to make my life easier?

Not that I know of, but you could always use titanium backup to backup all your apps before a flash and restore after.

Not that I have been able to find. And I researched this capability a few months ago.
You can sync several Google accounts for email, calendar, etc.
But from what I've found, you can only have one Play Store account.
And no way to easily transfer apps from one account to the other without re-purchasing them.

So, no data is backed up in FroYo anymore...

I wanted to change my Google account on my phone and the only way to do this sadly is by reset back to factory settings. Which is already stupid as hell, but okay.
Anyway, I reset it. I even checked if my settings where backed up via the hidden privacy setting that was hidden since FroYo.
Yet, I lost ALL my data. All my phone numbers, my home screen configurations. My bookmarks, my ringtone settings.
Everything was GONE!
Thank god I had a vCard backup from August 7. Which contained most new numbers of my friends. I only had to ask 2 people for their number again.
I'm not sure how much stuff gets backed up with Froyo, but I suspect the reason you've lost things in this instance is because it's now linked with the account you wanted to remove from the phone.
I can confirm there are NO backup feature with froyo for the Desire...Htc said they didnt implemented yet the google cloud backup feature...search in the forum, u will find the full htc response...
Anyway when and if htc will implement it, it will be linked to ur gmail account

Well, I changed my way of storing this now.
All my contacts are no longer on my phone, they are all Google Contacts. I copied all the numbers as well to my SIM card as a backup. I will also make a monthly vCard backup (as I always did).
My calendar is synced with Google so always there.
I got an app called SMSBackup+ that can backup and restore all my text messages from my phone to my Gmail account and back.
If someday I find a way to backup specific things of my SD card to my Gmail account, I'm all set.
I wish Google had a service like Windows Mobile and their MyPhone service.
if your desire is rooted..... use titanium backup it backups everything!
and after the factory reset, configure primary gmail account using the wizard and then restore everything with Titanium Backup except [E-MAIL ACCOUNT SETTINGS]

[Q] Best way to transfer contacts and call logs to a new ROM?

I use the paid-version of Titanium Backup for all my apps and SMS Backup for texts, but what's the easiest for contacts and call logs? Google doesn't fully restore my contacts (for some reason there are some missing).
take a look at Call Logs Backup & Restore, it's free and it works like a charm
this author also has free apps to backup SMS and APNs
Are the "missiing" contacts on the desktop computer version of GMail? If so, they should all sync automatically. Are these contacts from Facebook, or SIM contacts? You might just need to sync your phone to Facebook before those contacts come up.
As a final idea, when you create a contact on the phone (at least with Sense ROMs), one of the things you get asked is where you want to store the contact. You get all your gmail accounts, exchange accounts and a Phone option. If you choose Phone, it will not sync with any online service, so that might be the reason why you loose your contacts.
For my case, I only store contacts on the Phone if I know I will delete them in the short term, that way if I change phone or have to wipe I get a free cleanup, but for contacts that I want to keep I always put them on some online account.

i use a couple different back ups. Google backs things up, titanium back up, then I'm using sms back up and restore pro. I haven't lost a message or contact yet flashed about 8-9 times in a week since i started rooting.

Remove and re-add google account to take advantage of google apps account transition?

Hi All
The main account on my Desire Z is the account I use for my business, which was setup as a google apps account, it works fine for email etc but was never able to be used for Picasa or other google applications.
However, they have just recently transitioned google apps accounts and now they can access all the google applications, however to get them working on your phone, the google website says I'd need to backup my phone, remove the account, factory reset and then readd the account...
I'm not sure I like the sound of this as potentiall I could lose things if I've not backed everything up etc...
Is there anyway I can do this without having to do a full reset? So I can use the newly accessible apps likes picasa etc
Thanks
I am having the same issue - my calendar no longer sync's correctly as it's still attached to the me%[email protected] address, even though it displays the 'merged' account [email protected] Very frustrating!

If you're worried about losing things because you haven't backed everything up then back everything up, it's pretty simple.
Download Titanium Backup or My Backup Pro and back up your apps and data; after you reset your phone, restore your apps and data

I realise that but was just wondering if a reset was actually necessary or not?

I’m running a gingerbread build and I can just go to Accounts & Sync and add a new gmail account and remove the old one.
I don’t know if that’s what you mean though.

Backing Up Contacts... Sim Card?

I've been looking around for a long time in searching this site and other forum sites and no one really had the answer i was looking for, so im only wondering about this. Since we've all been rooted, i decided to install a ROM, and when i finally had it booted and everything, i was prompted to put my google account in to sync my contacts. But they didnt show up? Now mind you, i only have 1 google account, and that is the one i created at verizon when i asked for the DI2. Im currently on the Stock right now with all my data. in Settings >Account & Sync, i have the backup assistant, facebook, the google account, mail news and twitter. In the muiu ROM, i put that google account in but never got my contacts back. So my question is, are there other ways of backing up your contacts without erasing them to your SD card, OR SIM CARD? when i go to export contacts, it wants to save it as a file in my SD card, and then when i import them on another rom, it asks for a Vcard, but it doesnt work? Can anyone explain this to me?
Sync the contacts to your google account. I believe it asks you when adding a contact if you want them as a google contact or phone only. Make sure you select google contact. Then check the "sync contacts" box under your google account sync settings (its checked by default, but I uncheck it once its done to save battery life. Don't know if you do the same). Then force a resync of contacts before you change roms to make sure no new contacts or info are left out. From there change to any rom, or any other android phone and your contacts will be restored on the initial sign in.

yeah i see what your saying. In the people app, when i click menu, and then view contacts, it says with Facebook fot HTC Sense, i have 538 contacts, my Google account has 4, and the Phone has 179. How to save all the phone contacts to my google account?
Not sure myself. Never tried it and I dont know if you can change a phone contact to a google contact once the info has already been put in. Try GO contacts from the market? Lets you back up all your contacts. Haven't tried it but I've backed up and restored texts with GO SMS from the same developer, and it worked great. Im assuming it would work just as well.

Glad I could help

[Q] Will a custom ROM erase data.

Hi guys. I am looking to root my device and install CM9.
My question however regards data and contacts. Will the install process erase all my data on my phone? Will I lose my contacts?
Thanks in advance.
If you're on sense, (which you probably are) then you can backup contacts thru the people app. Not sure what you mean by data tho. Or, if you have your contacts synced with your Google account, you just sync your Google account on cm9

Data is sd card such as pics, music, videos etc will not be deleted, but data in the rom will be deleted if that what you want to know.
Thanks guys. The problem I have is that not all my contacts are saved to my Google account. There are some contacts that for whatever reason never transferred over to Google. I always save my contacts to Google and not the phone but some just don't transfer over.
I think the problem stems from the fact that until I got my Palm Pre I had a regular dumb phone. As I used the Pre more and more all the contacts added to the Pre were added to Google and the ones before the Pre were not.
I guess I need to find a way to export ALL my contacts to Google.

Thanks for the tip I did that but it only allows me to export either the Google contacts as one file or the Phone contacts as one file.
It won't let me do them together as one file.

Copy contacts to SD card or sim card , or put them in a csv file that you can upload to Google.
