I installed Jedi-X9 this weekend and absolutely love it. I know it says wifi calling does not work, but I assumed (yeah, my B) that meant T-mobile's wifi calling wasn't working. It appears that Grooveip doesn't work. Is this true? Very sad if this is true, I'm on the T-mo $30 plan, and this would mean I have to go back to stock, or possibly another ROM (??).
Anyone?
Jedi Master 9 has wifi calling enabled... try that, rom works great and is very similar to Jedi X9

So I finally got some free time, and I've moved over to Jedi Master 10. When I try to make calls I get no sound and there is no audio on the other end. I've been searching but I haven't turned up anything. Is there anyone who might be able to give some advice? I've been playing with the trouble shooting settings, but haven't gotten anywhere. Grooveip used to work fine back on stock, and I'm working with a clean install of the app on the new rom.
Sorry to tell you that but you're wasting your time trying to get Groove IP to work on that ROM. Been there, done that, and been ganged up on for even bringing it up. Switched to Tweaked and not only does it work perfectly on that one, but everybody is very civilized in that thread

Will never happen unless there is some crazy kinda super dev team (which there is not) that will be able to build an apk that will be able to intertwined it into everything that is cm/aokp to give us all that bliss type of feature without using tw tmobile .. In the before times when it was just an apk that everyone rushed to port over maybe, but now...... That's gonna be a hellava no!
Serious question. Will this never happen because AOKP ROMS are built from scratch source code?

Ya, pretty much the only option. My house is in a dead spot, a block away from full service with fast speeds. So I'm stuck with only being able to use roms with wifi calling myself. :|
Is the stock rom just as good as these custom roms?
I love a rom that has wifi, wifi calling and mms over wifi working.
All custom roms but aopk and cm9 any of our t989 have wifi calling... there's also app for wifi calling

Are the apps for wifi calling any good?
If you want/need wifi calling, Darkside Evolution with one of TDJ's kernels and eugene's CUP sleeper app is light years better than stock in terms of smoothness, battery life, and the ability to customize.
I found stock to be super laggy and slow.

I just started using Darkside Evolution with Darkside Venom 3 #5 kernel, I like it but mms over wifi isn't working.
I really need wifi to be working, The new location I moved to has sucky service and without using wifi I'm runnning one, two or no bars at all.

Try Samsung's fix. Open Gmail app with the acct linked to your phone. Send an email with a pic attached to yourself via Wi-Fi. You should get it right away. Now try and send an mms to yourself. If you don't get it, turn Wi-Fi off, then data off, and Wi-Fi back on and try again. This has worked for me several times.

Your reply wasn't needed, Your ass didn't have to even open the post. Move right along!
I'm far from a noob, Thank you very much.
I knew aopk and cm9 roms don't support wifi calling, I'm sure even a noob would know that. you pretty much told me something I already knew that's why I kindly asked about the wifi calling app you were talking about. One question makes me a noob, funny. I'm sure you asked more questions, wouldn't that make you a noob too? Ha, I don't need why some people have to be so rude, keep your comment to yourself. Sorry for having a life!
It really depends on what you're wanting out of your device. If you're an average user who really has no intentions on modifying your phone and only wants stability, then stock is always a good choice. Even with stock, you still have options. You can root stock, remove the bloatware, and if you choose, flash a modified kernel on top for some additional performance and battery life. There are some really solid custom roms out there, but there are also a lot of buggy roms that will cause you more issues than you're probably prepared to deal with. If you're new to the android modification world, I suggest browsing some of these threads and doing some research to get a feel for everything. Start with the basics and work up. Learn to root, learn to flash, backup/restore (very important!). Luckily there is a lot of support in these forums so an answer will always be there.
EDIT: I read one of your posts wrong. Apparently you know the basics. Either way, the rest still applies. Cheers and good luck!

Is there a working WiFi Tether option for the Sprint GeNex running JB 4.1.1 , OTHER than paying $30 per month to Sprint to unlock WiFi Hotspot? I have looked around and cannot find a solid solution or answer with regard to this.
WiFi Tether does not work in any iteration I have found, including the TrevE Mod (for Galaxy SIII). Open Garden doesn't work and FoxFi doesn't work rooted or un-rooted.
I have heard of ROMs that include functioning WiFi hotspots, but do they work with Sprint? I really don't want to ROM because I am happy with stock JB, and, frankly, my Nexus running stock JB, rooted, with Juice defender, gets amazing battery life that I was NOT getting from AOKP with Franco Kernel. But, if I need to go custom to get WiFi Tether, I will.
Thanks!
No one?

I have it. It doesn't work. Ad-hoc and all other mentioned functions do not work. Either Sprint has found a way to block all third party tethering apps, or no one has written a tethering program that works with Sprint. I have tried every variation I could find, including the one tailored to the Sprint Galaxy SIII because it has Samsung specific drivers. No luck. Unless someone has something I haven't tried before, or has the "Work around for Sprint Wifi tether blocking" app, I will have to live with out, or pay $30 a month to Sprint.

So I tried it again for easily the 5th or 6th time. I changed nothing about how I did it, just installed and set the profile to Galaxy Nexus. But NOW it works.
You do realize it only worked because you rolled your eyes at me. (by the way, is that exasperation or flirting, because, I'm married . ).
Anyway, thanks! I probably wouldn't have tried it again.

I'm glad. Thanks again. I wish I knew why it would let the ad-hoc connection and other functions didn't work before, but it's working now, so I'm happy.
Hope you had a good holiday!
I'm running the latest Paranoid Android 2.99, but have seen some issues with sprint wifi tether recently. Right now, it seems it only works on 4G. 3G data is immediately killed when I turn on wifi tether. I have the GA02 radios.
Found a solution.
I recently picked up a Sprint GNEX and put it at the latest stock 4.2.1 and rooted so I could tether (even though I have awful 3G and little-to-no LTE in my area). Spent a lot of time looking for a fix as the app wasn't working right for me, to tether, and couldn't find a way to get it working. Web searching the errors I was getting I tracked down this thread. There is a custom version there that works on our phones, with the right settings, start at post #109.
Sorry I'm sure this has already been discussed / linked / hosted on XDA, etc, but I couldn't find it in my search until I went outside XDA, so posting again here in case someone like me is looking in this thread. The app from Google Play does not work, this custom version is the only one that did the trick for me running stock 4.2.1.
So I downloaded and flashed the LiquidSmooth that i got from galaxys2rootdotcom since I couldnt find any downloads here.. Im on android 4.1.2 Of course, running mod version Liquid-JB-v2.0-RC8 and kernel [email protected] #1.
Now to the problems, The main one is my data its constantly switching from H+ down to H then back to 3g Then H, H+. Tried switching the network mode and that didnt work went into my apn settings and changing the protocol from Ipv4 to ipv4/ipv6 that didnt work either, keep in mind i unlocked my phone and now running off straight talk via the at&t sim.
Second is the gps, tried going to maps and getting directions and it wouldnt show my location.
Third is the calling, when i call people they told me it sounds like im in a tunnel. So its probably echoing.
Hopefully I can get some answers and maybe help others who have the same problems.
