Settings icon missing in app drawer - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi excuse me, I have a problem with settings icon that was missed in app drawer, I modded settings.apk and move into SD card, then I opened root explorer. I've tried to copy to system > app and set permission rw-r-r- and then reboot. After reboot, settings icon has been gone. :crying: What should I do ?

What do you think someone who has released themes and ROMs should do.

Did you make a backup?
If not, find the original apk in the main rom file on your computer.
Or re-install ROM.
^^^Or do what he said, whatever that may be...^^^
Only options really :/

It's quite obvious to be honest, see, when things like that happen to me, I retrace my steps, double check everything I may have modded, amend where necessary and try again, repeating the process should my amendments fail again, until the apk works, this guy however trys something once then starts threads like this at the first failure, and as you can see from their last thread and thread history doesn't take anything you say on board, so it's highly frustrating to see yet another, pointless thread from this guy.

Pointless threads are one thing, yes.
Pointless answers are another.
If you dont want to help, dont post - easy.
The thread has already been made.
Im fairly sure a lot of other users agree with me.

[Mod] Enable Shutter Sound Option [How To] JellyBean ;P

I have seen the how to enable thread (Thanks freeza!), but this is how I found to make the feature functional. Enable Shutter Sound (Working)
Note: In the Jelly Bean LIF Update, the build.prop no longer forces CameraSound, If you have updated to Jelly Bean, ignore step one.
Step One: First we make an edit to the build.prop file located in "/system/build.prop"
Edit the following line:
#add camera sound property for SPR concept
ro.camera.sound.forced=1
To look like this:
#add camera sound property for SPR concept
ro.camera.sound.forced=0
Step Two: So far we have changed the build.prop, now we will change an option in the feature.xml located in "/system/csc/feature.xml"
Edit the following line:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>false</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
To look like this:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
So now we will save these files and replace them with the originals.
Reboot and enjoy the ability to turn off the shutter sound when you please, and re enable it when you please as well!
Let me know if you need any help.
Hit the thanks button!

Yes Zeke, I completely realized that. All Im asking is shouldn't the creator of the modification be giving proper acknowledgement? Or link to the original creators thread so pple will know who exactly had parts into the creation? Instead of making a new thread like the OP of the new thread is the original creator. When I created the SAME MOD thats in this thread 3 to 4days before you posted ur thread I even quoted Freeza for one part(/system/csc/feature.xml file edit) and Kitcar from a Epic Touch thread for the other part (the build.prop) edit.
All I did was take both parts, from two different forums and put them together and posted the solution on the same thread that was talking about the problem. I combined Freeza's mod with Kitcar's mod and the shutter on and off worked with the menu button. Then I posted the solution for everyone to see in the same thread. Im not trying to take props from u I just think pple should have been linked to that thread or my post if they wanted to know who had something to do with the modification instead of making a whole new thread about it, with out links to the orignal thread because the solution was in there. Freeza could of even updated the orignal post with the solution and gave proper acknowledgement when ever he had time.

Is this mod only supported in a specific version of the firmware?

Clark44 has a silent sound overwriting the original maybe? It's been months since o flashes that Rom sorry bro... see if there are any other changes by him maybe? [App] Gmail 4.2 apk

Credits go to Android Police for getting this.
To install, I uninstalled the old app with titanium backup.. Then reboot and install the apk (Gmail_v4.2.apk)
There you go - pinch to zoom in Gmail!
Works perfectly for me on XXDLIB
UPDATE: Tylwith added a CWN flashable zip - attached (gmail4.2.zip)
UPDATE 2: travp624 made an inverted colours apk - attached (Gmail4.2-signed-aligned.apk)
Android Police have an article about the new features here http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...amped-attachments-better-navigation-and-more/
On the source article on Android police they said they are not yet allowed to post the apk. I hope to that someone will post it here.
You would think XDA would have posted the APK already. This is my first time seeing a news site have APK's before XDA. It's usually news sites posting what XDA has discovered.

sharing the apk here, AndroidPolice has gotten enough traffic out of this one
Here is how I installed this on wanam 3.7 (deodexed rom) You may have to find and delete .odex files on stock roms
(you may want to do a full backup in cwm first)
plug phone into usb cable from pc
Drag file from pc desktop to phone.
Run root explorer on phone (or a file manager with root access)
go to system/app
mount r/w
long press gmail2.apk
rename as gmail2.bak
mount r/o
now still in root explorer go to sdcard
press androidpolice_gmail2.apk and choose install from the package installer.
(Installs in data/app)
reboot phone
Enjoy pinch to zoom
If you want it in system/app find another guide

Lulz that's a douchey thing to say considering at the very least 30% of your content originates from people on this board that hardly profit from their love of android. I never ever see the word exclusive coming out of here. You turned your "leak" into a three article circle jerk.

If you have root explorer you can find it in the APK/ODEX versions, i found it by just selecting " what app you want to use for clock" in my Beautiful Widgets... but its odiously unusable. If i try to launch it, it just tells me that its unable to start the app. Meaning.. that its just disabled.. not just removed.. i think.

Stock Camera forced to preview with QuickPic

I hate the stock gallery and I use the beautifully dark themed QuickPic. I have gone through and made several smali modifications to the stock camera to preview the pictures with QuickPic so that I can remove the stock gallery. I am sharing it here.
First of all, it is the KitKat camera apk. Why? Because I built and themed my rom with kitkat and I dont feel like redoing it with LP. If someone convinces me, I will modify the LP camera.
You must have QuickPic installed from the market.. duh.

Can we just copy and paste into system app..or simply move it with any root file manager..or do we need to push it using adb ?....I know there are threads on xda showing how to push to system apps...on my note 4 there is couple places that could be where it might go..one is root/system/apps the other is root/system/priv app ...and once we push it or move to. .do we need change permission?..and thank you for the app.I just found out about quick pic was preinstalled on my last Ron Dr. ketin rom ..
