i soft bricked my phone when trying to get CWM working and lost my stock rom, i successfully unbricked using the guide here but the rom that is used to unbrick is a stock korean rom that isn't much use to me if i ever have to go back to stock.
also looking for the backup and restore app that comes with the stock ICS rom. the reason im requesting both (i know i can get the app out of the stock rom) is because i dont want to flash the stock rom now i only want it just in case. I want to install the backup and restore app into my CM10 so i can restore everything i had backed up before i soft bricked. I didn't know the app would be almost impossible to find and assumed that the backup files would be usable with another backup app but i can't find one. the files it created on my sdcard were "dateofbackupbu.sbf" the backups contain my contacts (like alot of contacts lol)
the stock korean rom i have was 2.3.3 before they added the backup and restore app, i am almost positive it was added in the ICS update so anyone with stock ICS and lg nitro should be able to get the apk for me, and i would really appreciate it.

Isn't the Telus version a P935? The Bell version is a P930.

I just got a Telus P935 for cheap and was going to move up to CM10. If you can point me in the right direction to grab the stock Telus ROM before I do, I'll share a copy gladly.

Could some kind person possibly back up and upload their stock rooted Rogers ROM and the CIQ-free rogers kernel in a CWM flashable format? I'm having some issues with a custom ROM, and I don't actually own a Windows PC to use ODIN to flash back to the the rooted rogers rom in the 'How to root your captivate glide' thread, so I'd really like to be able to use CWM to get back to stock to see if the issue is my phone, my kernel, or the rom.
Edit: I tried Heimdall, but it just constantly 'Fails to initialise protocol!' on me, so that's a no go.

So keep an eye om this post for the download links.
Ok so I backed up my stock rooted rom and there is more than on file in there so someone tell me if I should upload all of them or just certain ones.
And also where is better to upload files by the way cause I have not done it in a while.
Cheers!

If my S3 is stock rom but rooted with cwm recovery loaded, will I be able to get the AT&T OTA JB update once it rolls out with no issues? I understand I might lose root, but is that it? I know it will be a couple more months, just want to be sure the phone will be able to get this with no issues when the time comes.

From what I understand, you need the stock recovery in place for OTA updates, otherwise they will fail. Which makes sense.
Ok that makes since, so closer to go time I can just put the stock recovery.img on there right?? Is it that simple?

flash to stock via Odin, so yes...
-Ryan
Or you could just wait until the update drops and somebody posts a stock rooted version and update it through Odin.
Ok so have to flash the stock rom itself and not just the recovery. I have only really used an older Galaxy S1 to mess with flashing and stuff and never cared about the apps and everything, just would put a rom on there and when needed put it back to stock(borrowed it for a couple months). So if I do a titanium backup of apps+system data I can flash the stock rom, I assume root again and then restore the apps? let it update and Im done, or assuming the stock At&T JB rom is available on XDA I can just flash it on there, root and restore from titanium? Those are the 2 options if I want to stick with stock right?

Right, but it's not usually recommended that you install apps+data with TiBu; better to just install apps only.

Got ya, I do a backup with apps and data to be safe, but you can just restore apps only from that right?

You can. Though could also just let the Play Store redownload your apps for you.
basically i want to get back to a fresh start, as i think some issues im having trying new roms that arent working are because the system is a mess.
i have a rogers s3 1747, currently rooted and on frosty jb
but some odd things happen when i load a newer version of this rom series, and even when i restore my backups some odd things continue.
so..........
what i want to do is , set it back to stock, grab my official jelly bean update from rogers, then root it, and make a nandroid backup of that.
then i can continue on and play with other roms.

It should not (it certainly doesn't erase the internal storage, i.e. what appears as an internal SD card as opposed to /data and the like).
If you're really paranoid about it, you could always remove the card first.
thanx guys
another question somebody might be able to help me with, i`d ask in the actual thread but it tells me i cant yet ?
anyways
ive been using frosty jb v4 for awhile, awesome rom. its for att
wanted to try frosty v11.2.1 its -T999 UVLDJA Base, but many have said it can be used on 1747 from rogers.
well i have installed it, and the odd thing is, everything works great except 1 app, when i open contacts, i get a force close, right away, havent touched anything as far as changes go.
thats why i wanted to get back to stock cause i thought my phone was just messed up with various rom files.
it says this as part of the instructions.........
For BEST RESULTS: If coming from ICS or AOSP based ROM I suggest you Odin to stock UVDLJA first then flash Frosty Jellybean!
that meaan i have to flash a stock of UVDLJA from t999 ? to get it to work better?
Using Bell SGS3 running Task AOKP latest 4.2.2 but want to downgrade back to 4.0.4 (stock). I do have a backup of my original 4.0.4 and can see it under clockwork rom manager but not under CWM (after reboot) Its only showing anything ive backed up since upgrading to 4.2.2. Forgot to add that i'm using the 32GB version of the phone, NOT the 16gb.
Reason being i wanted to unlock the phone and keep it rooted and stock. So i guess go to 4.1.1? Whats the best way to do this? thx
You can use Odin to flash back the Stock ROM. I'd recommend flashing the newest Stock ROM since it has the latest (not so recent) updates and security patches. Stock ROM Firmware Download Links HERE
Make sure you are running the latest CWM, as it's likely the file system structure that's causing the issue. My guess is your older backups are in the non 0 folder, while the new ones are in the 0 folder. You can move your older backups to the newer folder and that should fix it, or the easier way is to make sure you are running the latest CWM.

I rooted my phone then used CWM RomManager to make a backup image of the rooted stock rom. Then put KitKat on the phone. Since then I have restored the Rooted stock Rom. Now every time the phone boots I get the Upgrading Android message and the phone is kind of buggy. I am having trouble finding instructions anywhere on how to get it back to complete stock. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
Thanks
What stock AT&T rom were you running when you created the backup?
Oh I guess I should have mentioned that huh.. it was 4.3
Have you tried flashing the 4.3 update.zip file you can find in the developers forum here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387423.
I feel like you ought to be able to copy the 4.3 zip file to your SD Card and flash via recovery and it should work, although I haven't tried it so I can't be sure.
