hello to all friends. I have a note with 2 imei but generic baseband correct. I accidentally deleted the efs folder but without backup. Now there is no network signal and I can not call or send text messages. I've tried all the methods described on each web forum but nothing. If I delete the folder is in factory mode. Three days I have no phone and I want to avoid back for assistance. Please help! Even in payment methods but please HELP
Why are you crying now. No one but Samsung can help you.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Why would you delete the EFS folder? That's like stripping your phone off of its identity. Try installing stock rom through Odin it's a long shot but worth a try otherwise your gonna have to make new friends at the Samsung service center.
Sent from the Rabbit Hole
Sorry but I agree with all the above posts. Your pretty much screwed! You should at least try to install a stock rom via Odin or Mobile Odin. This could fix your issue but most probably not.You can inquire at your local cell phone repair store but this could be pricey. No sense asking others for a copy of their EFS. Its kinda like asking someone for their social security number. Best of luck
Does others efs backup work?
I know several people in Korea and I can probably get them to send you an efs backup given you're not going to use it in the same country.

It might work but chances are pretty slim and not without doing some modifications to the efs backup you plan.to send the OP. It's gonna require a lot of reading and time spent on Google especially for a newbie.

No.
If you restore else's efs then you both would be liable to jail.
Because imei is strictly unique.
If two phones with same imei connect to network then it would disable both your phones.
Plus advanced legal steps could be taken against you.
Get to a service center it's still not late.

But if he made a schedule with his friend, with exact hours, when they would use their phones, it will be all legal. Only one phone turned on at a time

Says who? Just because you bought a kirf phone that shares the same imei with lets say a thousand other kirf phones doesn't mean you're liable to imprisonment, and its no different in this case. The most that could ever happen is that the imei would get blocked by the network if used on the same network at the same time. And network providers don't generally sit and monitor who's using the same imei unless a large number of the phones connected are using the same imei hence a lot of kirf phones don't work on certain networks. If the guy wants to tinker with his phone let him be, just don't try scare him off with false info.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
If we both have the same phone and I get a call it could get redirected to any of us.
Network providers use imei to identify us.
We use mobile nos.
If two phones would pop up with same imei. They instantly block both because they don't know which it has to be passed on to.
The server would be configured to block itself.

I didn't mean they had IMEI, but that they were the first line of identification: the sms or call comes to your sim and not to your IMEI
Try it.
Both would be blocked within a day I guarantee.

I don't know if you have solved your problem already but i'll still reply to give an idea for people having the same problem who might read this from now on. I think your problem might be fixed by using kies software. Kies software has an option to revert the machine to factory settings with latest firmware installed. It's in kies tools menu. Must be something like "initialize and install latest firmware". I use kies on my native language which is not english so i can't be sure for the right translation of the menu item. It asks you device model no which is GT_N7100 in our case. And then asks for S/N which can be found on the backside of the device under the battery. After you type all these infos it downloads the spesific software necessary to get your device to factory defaults and installs the latest firmware up to date. I think that would also repair your EFS files though i'm not sure. Why would they ask for your device spesific S/N other wise ?
once upon a time i knew a man who using cloned (taken from other phone) imei and he using that phone about 2 years. And nobody disturb him...
Exactly he was doing it illegal. But two of phones had same imei and two of phones were working at the same time (via different sims and phone numbers)
Please dont write here for just being writer. Alwasy write things just when you sure.

Transferring efs from one device to another is against XDA rules and illegal. Send the device in for repair.

I have a Samsung Galaxy 3S, stolen from me , from about 3 weeks ago or more,
Unfortunately, I did not activate tracking process on my account in Galaxy site!
But I have a serial number to my Samsung Galaxy !!!!
Is it possible to track mobile by serial number???,
If possible Can anyone help me to tracking my Mobile by serial number?,
Or tell me how can i do??
Please help me,
Thank you very much.
No it is not possible to find a a phone using serial, if you got it from your carrier then the best thing you can do is notify your carrier and and tell them you lost it, they may tag it in the system so it is not used on their network...
Pretty sure there's nothing you can do. If you already reported stolen it can no longer be used on at&t. Sorry man...sucks.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
If you happened to have made an imei backup you might be able to get your imei number from it. If the phone is ever turned on and logs onto a network then the carrier may be able to trace it.
If you have renters insurance (usually no deductible) you should be able to file a claim.
Homeowners same thing but u would have to pay..
Last I checked att doesn't care about stolen phones though.. They won't block the imei...

3 weeks is too long to do anything else. Had it just happened I would recommend going to "play" on google.com and installing "Android Lost" to the phone remotely. Then you could take pictures from the camera and see what the bastard looks like. You could then turn on the GPS and find out where he is. Then you go to you local walmart and purchase a nail puller from the hardware section........well you know the rest.
Whats the galaxy 3s ?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
It's between the galaxy 3 and 4; then comes the 4s.......LOL nice catch.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
You could remotely install the app called Plan B if they haven't wiped your phone yet... it's from the makers of the security app Lookout.
Carrier can only block, they will never tell you if they find it because of liability issues (so you don't go to someone's home and shoot them for the stolen phone and the carrier gets sued and you find out the poor guy paid for the phone on Craigslist from someone else who stole it, etc etc)
You can file a police report and tell the carrier to notify the cops but cops won't care much because they probably have better things (things with higher priority) to worry about.
About 2 weeks ago I started being unable to send/receive texts and calls. All of a sudden I just constantly got the messages "not registered on network" and "emergency calls only". I have tried everything. Flashed different ROMS and modems, taken the SIM out and put it back in - even ordered 2 new SIMS from different networks to see if it was a problem with my provider - but nothing has worked.
I contacted my network and tried all the suggestions they gave me(none of them worked) and they assured me that as far as my account is concerned, everything is fine.
I really have no idea what the issue could be. My phone CAN detect the SIM card, e.g. when I got a Vodafone one to try out the Access Point settings all changed and a Vodafone toolkit was installed on my handset, but I still cannot send/receive any texts or calls.
I checked my device's hidden menu, and it correctly tells me what my current network is, but then it says:
GSM service: Emergency calls only
GPRS service: Disconnected
ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated, as you can imagine this is very frustrating!

Nope, I purchased the device brand new. I've had it since the start of November and haven't had any problems until now.
I just paid for a report from checkmend.com to find out if my IMEI has been reported or blocked and it says that it hasn't, so that seems fine. Any other ideas?

I looked for an efs backup on my phone but I only have ones from AFTER my IMEI must have changed in the first place, so what can I do now?
Your is generic imei and it's due to corrupted efs
Find toolbox in my signature and there is a tool 'efs repair' try with that
Otherwise you have to send to service station.

You can try, nothing harm as you already have broken
But keep backup of efs folder safe whatever it have, at least you will have it, if something goes wrong.

Hello partners, this night a thief stole my Note II, but i have my divice encrypted and the Samsung Account is enabled, as we know we can use Samsung Dive to track a lost phone.

If Odin is used.....the device is erased. ..
Have you notified your carrier ??

Make sure your carrier blocks the IMEI number. ..it may help prevent future use. ..
Unless the device is turned on. ..And Odin is not used. ...you may not find it again. ...

Exactly what he^^^^^^^ said¡!
Just so you know most carriers share lost or stolen phone data so or can't be used there. It becomes a paper weight!! The only place that it would actually work is, if it was sent to someone internationally. FYI

Maybe in the US, they sure don't here in Canada..
I've read otherwise too, that they don't. Plus your service is linked to your sim, not imei these days unless you're on a cdma carrier.
If they did the hardware free unlock they could use it on another carrier.
Not that I'm saying don't get the imei blacklisted, but just that it doesn't do much good these days
Yeah I here what ya saying. But that's not cool on Canada's part.

Well. ...
Any attempt to get the device deactivated could help. ..
If Canadian carriers refuse to incorporate a black list program. ..shame on them. .
The amount of device theft and fraud is staggering. ...And it's only getting worse with the inception of these powerful devices. .
Considering that both of our countries are greatly lacking in their ability to stop the reactivation of stolen devices. ..I suppose the only real solution ATM is insurance coverage.
Not the cure by any measure. ..but at least the victim can be up and going again. ..
Why don't we find a way to deactivate download mode ??
Is that even possible ??
That would prevent erasure of the device. ..And would be a huge benefit. ..IMHO. ...g

Hi,
I recently purchased a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 on Craigslist. When I put in my SIM card, I couldn't use the phone, or any network services on the device. It said "Not Registered on Network." I contacted T-Mobile and gave them information about the phone. They said that the phone has been reported as stolen and blacklisted. I tried to get in touch with the original owner, but the original owner's number is no longer in service, and will not respond to my emails. I looked online on how to fix this, and I've been told to change the IMEI number of the device, so that it will no longer be blacklisted. I don't know how to do this. Could someone please teach me?
Thanks in advance!
Unless I'm mistaken this may be illegal. Even if it's not you're likely to wind up using an existing imei and you'll get blacklisted that way. At the very least....
Your best bet is to try to unlock and resell it on eBay to someone preferably out of the country. Then buy another having learned from this mistake so you don't do it again.
Sorry to hear this happened to you, but I'm not sure anyone will be able to help you.

You should be able to (legally) change the board out and thus change the IMEI.

its only illegal if you dont own the device you are using the IMEI from, my brother in law works on all android phones for a living and that is one of his services is rewriting IMEI's to blacklisted devices, he basically buys totaled units that still boot just too broken to warrant fixing i.e. GS3 with broken screen a new digitizer and lcd for the GS3 is around $450 on ebay, you can buy a GS3 outright for that most of the time, so if you have a previous phone you no longer use in your possession you can legally change the IMEI of the blacklisted device to the one of that device and never sell it. you are probably safe throwing the phone out but its a good legal decision just to keep it boxed up just in case.

you may pay quite a bit more for it but i would highly recommend using XDA's own Swappa service to purchase used goods they wont sell a blacklisted device and do check those kinds of things before the device is listed, unless you personally know the individual who is selling it you should never buy a device from somewhere like craigslist, you would be fairly safe to buy from ebay as long as the poster has not specifically said the phone is blacklisted, bad ESN and so on. most purchases are covered by either ebay buyer protection, paypal buyer protection or both, sorry you got a blacklisted phone thats never cool, i have had my share, i want to say there are a few places online that can check an ESN IMEI for blacklisted devices, so if you want to buy off of craigslist have them give you the IMEI first and check it out, or if its a paid service to check it ask them to pay for it and show you the report before purchasing, i dont have any of the links handy but a simple google search should give you some results as to the service. here is one link https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct...=sPIFnWz5bP6e_D4o0Lag8g&bvm=bv.48572450,d.dmQ there should be a few more out there if you want to look into it for future devices. if you want you can pm my brother in law and ask him if he is able to do it through a remote link. his handle is RussellAlan

You probably have to put your IMEI in it, before using the nv reader writer, open it in hex editor and see if line 550 is present, if it is, you will have to either edit it to have your IMEI in it, or not sure about this one but you might be able to delete line 550 and just write what you have, this may wipe your IMEI, not sure, or it may just only write the other nv items, again not sure, you might compare the file that was created with the IMEI injector, and that backup file and see if the IMEI injector has any of the other lines, that that backup file has if not, copy the IMEI from the injector file by hand typing do not copy and paste, into line 550 of the backup file save and then try, however I am NOT a pro on this, so I would definitely want to double check that with someone who has a little more experience before I did anything
i cant do it until my wife gets home but if you can send me the file the IMEI injector created, i can do a NV backup of my wifes phone(T999) and insert your IMEI in place of hers and see if that will work out for you, or if you want to PM me your IMEI and post a link to the injector tool i could simply generate your NV IMEI Item here and add it to her Backup, then i can send it to you and you can use the CDMA NVdata reader Writer tool to write the entire backup to your phone and see if that works, i would make a backup of what you do have and save it just in case something were to go wrong during the write phase, you could at least write that backup to your phone until you can get another option figured out. just need to verify from you that you do have a T-Mobile S3 AKA SGH-T999 and not another variant

My brain does not cooperate. Do you think you could break this down for me?

Basically, if you use the file.linked a few posts back. You will neef to check if whoever made it left their imei in it. If so you need to replace it with yours. If not.you need to.insert yours in the correct line.
@all, can anyone confirm that there is no other device specific info in those backups? If there is you probably don't want to use someone else's. I just can't remember...

i looked at the nvitem.txt in that post it shows line 550 as an inactive item, so you should be able to just write that file to your phone with the tool, just a fair warning use the CDMA reader/writer tool i linked to do a nv data backup before writing the nvitem.txt you linked just incase line 550 (THIS IS YOUR IMEI) gets removed from your phone when you write the file to fix your 3g/4g at least this way you will have a backup to where you currently are instead of making matters WAY WORSE!
@doc i looked through the file he is trying to use to fix his 3G/4G it looks like whoever wrote it deactivated any device specific items, there are very few lines that remain active the rest show as inactive, still having the offset for the line but no info to be written.

All right, so I should write my respective imei in line 550. I already have a backup, and I have the generator tool as well. I will report back thanks so much for the help, as well as docholiday
Edit: check pm motodefier

Nope, since line 550 shows as inactive you should only have to write the 3G/4G nv items to the phone, it should skip all inactive items, and just add to what's already there.
The backup is just a precaution.

check your PM's you should have the link to your new QNC file, let me know when you have downloaded both so i can remove them for your safety and my DEV-HOST space. I also included an on device nvdata backup and restore app, once you have restored the qcn with QPST and rebooted, verify your services are back if so make a backup of your NV data before doing anything else, this will help you avoid this problem in the future.
@everyone else if you need this service performed for your S3 just PM me i would be glad to help.

it keeps saying that my phone is offline ,, i've been tryng this method for 2 days
i think tha's because that location service is deactivated in my phone
my phone has my account but i haven't activated location service :X
i just want to know why my phone isn't compatible with the android lost app
Looking at your post history shows that you installed a custom ROM. That may be why it's showing incompatible with the app. Just a guess.
Go to whomever you purchased the phone. They may be able to shut it down.

it's true i have a custom rom for sake
please tell me what should i do i'm dying :X
Apps you install remotely from the Play Store don't activate on the device unless you run them on the device.
Not much you can do outside of calling the police and your mobile operator.
Sorry.

Sadly that's what happens, 1st thing they do is remove your sim card, unless they're amateurs. then it will most probably be sold in another country using a different imei, which is why you should NEVER post your imei online. So basically your phone is gone. And the Google Locate and the Samsung find are not 100% reliable, yesterday I was testing the Google find with WiFi, GPS & mobile data on and it couldn't locate it. Best you can do is make sure your important data is protected on your phone and back up photos and all as much as you can.
