Factory Resetting a Rooted Stock ROM Device - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

I installed some system utilities and after changing "some" of the seetings of my rooted stock system, I realized that I can't send/receive messages.
So what happens if I do a factory reset from phone settings? Or should I do it from CWM and how exactly?

you can do it with stock recovery.
hold power+volume down and press wipe data/factory reset.

option 3, if you have cwm installed already, you couldnt have missed it

no need for custom recovery, the stock one can do it too.
all recoveries are capable of this.

Holding volume down and the power button doesn't boot phone into recovery! Help!

I just flashed a deodexed rooted version of the newest OTA last night and now when I turn my phone off and try to boot into the boot loader, I can't. It just powers the phone on. Did I somehow lose root?
If the rom has a fastboot option, disable it. Menu-Settings-Power, depending on the rom.

It may also be in menu>applications, but like you said it depends on the ROM.

Yes it works. The power off option is weird. Just use the restart option. Or pull battery and voila

Com.android.phone has stopped working

I had removed a bunch of Samsung bloatware and performed a factory reset to fix battery drain issues.
Everything works fine now except when I start the phone it says "unfortunately com.android.phone has stopped working". I have to dismiss it twice then my phone works normally, including network.
I tried wiping dalvik and cache partitions on cwm but the problem persists.
I have a namdroid backup of my phone from factory if that helps.
Thanks!

I would restore your nandroid. Must have accidentally deleted one of the important ones that the system relies on.

[Q] How do I reset my "Check for update" counter.

I have a rooted GN2 and I'm not able to get the OTA update and every time I bump my date up more and more it increases my update check for so many days. I read somewhere that I can reset that counter using Titanium Backup but I can not remember or find the thread where it stated which system app I needed to reset. Can someone help? TIA
