Same thing happened to me today. Maybe it wasn't a mistake. Is it your ROM Jellybam 5.2.0 by any chance?
After odin'ing a stock rom, if still no service, another important thing to check is under "about phone" under settings. Check baseband.
Also look in "about phone" under "status". Bring a screen shot. Lots of blank fields is a bad thing...

Indeed, flashing a stock rom through odin did it.
I tried every other solution (ktool, moving files using root explorer and terminal emulator etc.) with no luck.
Thanks!

I'm assuming Samsung caught on to folks using the new version of S Voice on the S3. I get a network timed out error now. Had to uninstall and go back to previous version.
Did it work?

It worked for a day or two, then stopped. There were some visual goofiness, but better integration and voice recognition!

No need to flash - just open the zip files and copy the backgrounds/sounds over to your sd card. Easiest thing in the world.
Also, the new S Voice still isn't working for me. It just returns a no network connection error message. Anybody have a fix for this yet?

dont know why but for whatever reason i cant install any 4.3/4/4 rom on my phone.. im currently on Darthstalker V9 no real problems with that but i figured id try something new and i just keep getting "bad" errors.. ive tried different downloads, updated recoveries, still nothing.. any help would be appreciated..
Maybe your md5 is doesn't match the original file.. Check the md5 and there's your answer so in other words you're getting a bad download

Are you doing a full wipe of system, data, cache, and dalvik in recovery before flashing a different ROM?
And what are the exact errors you are getting in recovery? I assume they aren't just saying "Bad". (At least I hope not, because then I'm really lost...)
Gotta give more details man, what recoveries have you tried? how updated? the best in my opinion is CWM recovery...what rom did you try to flash? do you have any addons on your browser that speed up downloads? did you check the MD5 on the roms you downloaded to make sure they were good?
i tried the latest CWM and Philz recoveries and got errors with both.. the errors i get are saying they cant open the zip or whatever i do it again in a few minutes so i can get the exact wording... yes ive done a full wipe,i'll double check the md5's to make sure thats not it,i dont remember if i checked them or not with the last thing i tried to switch to. i shall report back.

Switch to TWRP recovery and try it. It's an entirely different design of recovery. (CWM and Philz are basically the same thing under the hood)
Just see if you get a different result in TWRP. That will help narrow down the issue.
You can get TWRP using the Goo Manager App or can flash it in Odin.

Yeah I checked but this device is weird as you know and I wanted a bit of assistance not wise ass remarks. I'm new on this part of xda and with a flashed phone I know some roms don't work correctly. That's why I asked not to be lazy. Check my stats I do a lot of support for the one xl. And one thing I wouldn't do was post a link to a totally different device, someone with less common sense could brick with wrong info.

My bad, I read that as G2, I apologize. I was confused as to why this was posted here. If you want a ROM that works correctly go with TouchWiz. AOSP ROMs are pretty buggy on this device, especially KitKat.
What do I need to do to go from stock rooted this is a confusing device and I also still have stock recovery
Gb27 by the way

Get Mobile Odin, flash this kernel (.tar format)-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2244781 in Mobile Odin and that will give you a custom recovery
Would u recommend wiping dalvik and cache? Or is it safe to just reboot into the stock rom?

If all you flash it the kernel, its safe to reboot without wiping anything. However, I would follow any and all directions given by the OP of any ROM or kernel you flash to the letter. Otherwise, you're asking for issues. This is a confusing device, and there are so many little nuances that need to be done just right to avoid problems.
If you take nothing else away from this post, remember this website www.rwilco12.com, it will save your device if you run into issues or just need anything for the device. Every ROM, kernel and modem leaked and/or released for this device by Samsung is on there and will return you to stock in a heartbeat.:good:
Sadly, it seems my IMEI has been set to zero.
I can still make calls and text, but my data is on Edge network only.
I've been doing some searching and reading (by some I mean a lot) and I guess I'm getting a little confused in it all.
Would using ODIN to reset my phone to stock fix the IMEI?
I have the IMEI on a sticker on the phone, could TMobile reset the IMEI for me?
Thanks in advance.
Swap it if you have insurance. If not search xda for fix.
Sent from my SM-N900T using xda app-developers app
Yes Odin will fix the Issue. Please choose correct firmware to flash via Odin.
Thanks for the response.
Trying to confirm I get the RIGHT rom for my device.
Went to sammobile.com/firmwares/
Looking at all the options for SGH-T999, do I have to made basebands to what I have now (T999UVDLJA) which is dated Oct 2012, or is that something that gets "updated" if I apply the latest rom (March 2014)?
Depends on what you had before all these problems. You must choose that same version otherwise you may hard brick the phone.
*sigh*
And I suppose there's no way to know that? I don't have a back up or anything...
Is there anyway to determine?
Thanks for your help and direction thus far!
Oh Sure. There are other ways to determine. If possible post a photo of the download screen. Otherwise type out exactly what you see when the phone is in download mode.

Yes that's what I needed. I suggest please use UVDMD5 Version of Root66 to flash via Odin.
Excellent.
So follow directions and get files from here?: http://www.androidayos.com/2013/05/...y-bean-without-binary-flash-counter-increase/
Well. Yes. I'd direct you to the Thread here under Android Development.
Yeap. The link I posted actually takes you back to the link you provided.
Both bookmarked.
I hope to do this tonight.
If I understand this correctly, this should flash my phone back to stock with my valid IMEI
Using this Route66 I will have root on the phone and should then be able to do a CM install if I choose?
Yes and yes.
If that is your desire, then while you are in Odin, flash a custom Recovery such as TWRP or CWM as well.

... I will have to research on how to do that too then.
First concern is getting the IMEI back so that I can actually USE the phone with data -- regardless if it's CM or stock OS.
As the UVDMD5 will have correct modem, hopefully that will restore IMEI. Otherwise we may have to see what happens.
hmmm sort of seems to have worked... stuck at the "SAMSUNG" screen though.
Reading other links says I should have cleared cache before doing?
Hmmm cleared cache.
Did factory reset.
Still stuck at pulsating "SAMSUNG" logo...
Ok got into phone... ugh is stock ROM just painful. Who designs these things?!?!
Sadly, IMEI is still set at 0
this doesn't seem to have worked

Can't TMobile just restore the IMEI if I take it to one of their stores?
Its been about 2 weeks now and I am still having this problem. One day while I was a school I felt my phone really hot in my pocket. and it was off. A modem is what controls your phones communication with the internet and voice and data... Pretty important. Go to Settings/About Phone and flash the one that matches the last four characters in your Baseband (like GB27 for example)-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764210

Flashing a custom ROM or doing a factory reset won't mess with your cricket flash, although you will have to follow directions in this thread to get back working MMS and 3g (if you flash an AOSP or CM-based ROM... 3g should work out of the box on stock-based).
