[Q] Where is the folder for the Wallpapers? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

What folder is the wallpapers in? I'm making a few and want to install them.

There is not "wallpaper folder" you can put them anywhere on your sd card. If you mean to put them in system wallpapers then you need to do a bunch of zipping and unzipping then they are somewhere in the /rez folder of the launcher.apk

Never mind... I figured it out.

[Q] How can I combine all the various wallpapers on my phone?

So I am running SalvageMod, they have their own set of wallpapers.
Then there are the "system" wallpapers that come with 2.3.3
Then I also have a folder on my SD card that I dropped in there from a ZIP I found online.
How can I combine, at least, the GB wallpapers with the Salvage Mod wallpapers? Since they are both on the internal storage of the phone.
The easiest option is to use 7zip to open the apk files for the backgrounds and extract the backgrounds. You can then have them all in a folder on your SD.
I guess Im curious to know where the system wallpapers and where the Salvage wallpapers are located on the internal memory.
System/app and then some sort of wallpapers apk. Wallpapers are in an app.

[Q] Installing Wallpapers

Hello people of XDA.
My question is: I want to install wallpapers onto the Droid. I would like to put them in a folder so that they will show up with the rest of the stock wallpapers in the wallpaper selection screen. Is this possible?
Thanks!
Randy
You'd have to find the apk file that holds those, and then use 7zip to open the archive and add what you want in there. Way easier just to create a Wallpapers folder on your SD card to keep them there.

1. Download the animation, re-name it to bootanimation
2. Place it on the root of your sd card, using a root file explorer [es file explorer, root explorer, ect] move it to /system/media and overwrite the existing one
3. Use a file manager to explore your sd card. You'll see a folder called clockwork if on cwm recovery, or nandroid if on amon ra. Open then folder and you'll see all your backups. Simply delete the ones you don't want
i have the miui rom .i have done this before and still wont work .can i delete everything i see with bootanimation? and just download a link with bootanimation and put it on my sd card ? and i figured out how to delete the back ups i did not want anymore thanks a bunch .i am using nandroid back up

Check for the /data/local folder for the bootanimation.zip [ I haven't used MIUI, but its either in /system/media or /data/local]
i went to date /local/using root explorer and get 3 folders one folder says parent folder second folder says download third folder says tmp now i go to systems and i see a folder called bootanimation.zip is that the folder im doing it as i type to you
You're in /system/media? What is the path exactly?
root eplorere its mounted as r/o i go to system and i see bootanimation .zip and i scroll down to media and if i open media i see audio bootanimation than bootanimation.zip than cod-bootanimation-aosp which is the bootanimation i want on my evo than gadget than lockscreen and so on

You need to delete the original bootanimation.zip, then rename cod-bootanimation-aosp to bootanimation [should still be .zip], reboot, and you should be good.
the cod bootanimation-aosp does not say zip next to it .does that mean its not zipped ? how do i know the bootanimation.zip is the original one ?
looking at the bootanimation folders i have about 3 folders with the name bootanimation if i long press the folder it saids i can zip the folder

Also make sure you're mounted as r/w. Long press it and hit rename, it should still be .zip, just doesn't show on the preview. Then do what I said previously.
i just switched it to r/w and i can only find the bootanimation file under s/d card and when i open the folder this is what it shows five files 1 file is parent folder 2 folder DS-STORE THIRD FILE ANDROID FOURTH FILE BOOTANIMATION.ZIP FIFTH FILE DESC.TXT WHEN I CLICK ON FOURTH FILE WHICH IS BOOTANIMATION.ZIP I GET THIS PARENT FOLDER TWO DS-STORE FOLDERS THAT HAVE A LITTLE YELLOW STAR ON THEM .NEXT FOLDER META-NF AND SYSTEM HOW CAN I START THE PROCESS FROM SCRATCH
I was following some guy called zeromax on youtube .i did what he said to do and still not worked
Well you saw all those folders because you opened the bootanimation.zip zip, which you don't need to.
1. from the sd card, copy the renamed cod bootanimation, that has been renamed to bootanimation.zip
2. go to /system/media, delete the bootanimation.zip in there
3. paste your bootanimation.zip in its place, done.

My post 2 above is the 'restart' from the beginning.
On MIUI you apply boot animations through the Theme Manager. You can either pm me a link to the animation and I'll make you a mtz to apply through theme manager, or you can follow the normal directions. If you do it the same way you would do it on any other rom, you have to go into theme manager afterwards and reapply the default animation. You would do so by going to customize at the bottom of the main screen, then choose boot animation and select the default one. You may need to choose another before you're given the option to apply the default. If you don't have one then youcan download one from the theme manager.
MIUI is different from other roms in many ways, but theming is much easier as well. If you ever need help getting certain things working on MIUI, feel free to pm me. I've been running it for over six months and know it better than I know stock Android or Sense.
Edit: You can also place the boot animation in /data/system/theme/boots, name it bootanimation.zip, set permissions to rw-r--r--, and reboot. Applying through theme manager is easiest if you're not familiar with modifying system files. As I already mentioned, I'd be happy to make an mtz for you.

You can add the boot sound through the Theme Manager. If you have the mp3, open theme manager. Select customize at the bottom, select boot sound, then choose the music app to find the sound.
I replied to your pm, do you still need me to make the theme? It's best to have the theme on hand. It'll take less than 15 minutes for me to make it, so if you want it just respond to my pm. I get notification that way, I might forget to check the thread.

UCCW Import Help

So i wanted to finally try uccw after hearing so much about it. I dont know how to use the app to make my own themes it looks so complicated. But I found a couple that I like on the web. I downloaded the file and need help importing it. I unzipped the downloaded file and inside it has 4 files: one is a true type font file, second is a uccw file, and the last two are png images. My question is where do these go?
So far after reading around the web I know to put .uzip files in the uccw folder on my sd card.
I put the uccw file into the uccw folder but dont know where to put the font , and png files. i tried placing them all in that folder but when i go to import from the app it doesnt show anything..
Could someone please explain where to put these files and correctly import them? This is all new territory to me,
Bump. Anyone?

I found out that uccw file goes in the uccw folder. The font goes in a fonts folder on the sd card. But where do the png image files go? I have a image_fonts folder inside the uccw folder so I put them there for now. When I open the app I still can't get it to import the skin. However when I use the widget the skin is there. But it's not displayed properly. It's not using the png files I don't think. And there is also an ugly logo.
Here is a pic of what I mean

This what my uccw folder looks like and all of them work properly. You see a folder with the same name as the uzip file under each uzip, the .PNG or picture is in that folder. The weather icons are in a folder named weather. This app definitely has a bit of a learning curve but is pretty cool once you get the hang of it. Hope this helps and good luck!
okay ill try making a folder of the skin and putting the png files in there. But the files I have are uccw files not uzip files. I think its from an older version.
I hope I understand your question correctly. You should be able to import the uzip files directly into UCCW. In the app, press menu, select 'import skins,' navigate to where you have the skins (uzip files) stored, then select that file. UCCW should load everything up, placing all the files within the uzip file in the appropriate directories, and, voilĂ , you can now use the skin of your choice. Hope this helps. Good luck.

True, basically don't unzip or do anything with the .uzip file. And if I remember right, you can import the file from wherever you downloaded it to. It really is a cool app once you get used to it. With hotspots and all it has become my all in one widget basically. Good luck with the import, just remember, the app does the work. I'm still trying to build my own, that is taking some time to learn. I'm not sure if you know of this, but here's a spot where there are lots of premade files. They are throughout but there are some great ones in there.

Enjoy.
Thanks for all the help guys appreciate it.

ok i don't know where you guys see the import option but in the latest version is missing
Just restored my phone, but UCCW will not let me import any of my saved files. There isn't even an 'Import' selection when I use the 'New' button...what's up? The file I want to import is already on my phone, as a .uccw...
Most frustrating...had a few brief moments where I could create my own by getting my images from Photos, but that stopped working, too...

[resolved] Expanding theme with new icons

I found a nice theme and installed it without any problems. But I would like to expand it with more icons so all my apps fit in.
I copied the theme to my PC unzipped it and placed the new icons in the icon folder. I named the icons with the right names (eg. com.twitter.android.png), zipped it all again and copied the modified theme to the hwthemes folder. But now the theme doesn't show up any more and the icons hasn't changed.
What am I doing wrong? How can I get the expanded theme to work?

Well that is exactly what I did and it didn't work.
It seems like the file names are not the problem. I did the following experiment:
Copy a working .hwt file from the HWThemes folder to my PC
Renaming it to .zip
Unzipping it with winRar (v4.11)
Zipping that folder right away without making any modifications to the contents of the folder
Renaming the new zip file to .hwt
Copying the new file into the HWThemes folder, using the exact same file name as before
The new .hwt file didn't work either. Unlike the old file it does not show up in the Themes app.
The new file was slightly larger than the old (11.659 KB vs. 11.631 KB) even though I zipped it using the highest level of compression.
This leads me to be pretty certain that it is not the file names that are the problem but rather the way the folders are compressed into .hwt files.
I hope someone will be able to help me since I would really like to get into EMUI theming.

Try using 7zip to open hwt files and make changes inside without unpacking them.
