Hey guys I've just unlocked the bootloader on my HOX and installed CWM and rooted. I had a Galaxy S2 before so flashing roms was a bit different and before I end up bricking my my new phone, I just wanted to get some more info/confirmation as to what I (think) I know before flashing a new rom, Android Revolution. Hopefully this can help some other noobs.
I've downloaded the required files, the rom zip, the kernel bootimg and super wipe.
I have a FAIR GENERAL idea of the steps but I'd like to confirm here before damaging my device.
To my knowledge:
1) Place the rom zip on the internal SD card via USB cable as normal along with the super wipe zip.
2) Boot into the bootloader, enter fastboot and connect the phone via USB and open CMD from the same folder used to root it, with those files present. When CMD is opened enter fastboot devices to ensure the device is being detected and then flash the bootimg kernel using the command "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
3) (unsure of this step and following steps...) After flashing the bootimg via adb reboot the device and enter bootloader mode again and this time enter recovery.
4) In CWM, reset to factory settings (data wipe), clear cache, clear davlik and then flash the super wipe zip and finally flash the rom.
Those are the steps I know..and I've also read of a .bat file to execute the adb commands automatically but I don't know exactly how that works and I'm a bit scared to try it. I've done my research so please don't flame me for asking this, I'm just scared as hell to brick my new phone.
If someone has a clearer simpler list of steps please post them or please correct any errors I have there. Thanks in advance for the help guys

Making the bat file is very simple..I'll help you on fb if you want...Everything else looks good though...do you really need to connect to the pc every time you want to flash? 0_0

The bat file isn't an issue..once I have the correct commands (if someone can confirm that too it'd be appreciated ) I'm good. And yeah I think so because a kernel ..or bootimg can't be flashed in CWM cuz its S-On ..so anytime u need to flash a new rom I guess you'd have to flash the kernel for that Rom via fastboot.

Thanks for the reply..Just one other question..from Fastboot (after flashing bootimg) how do you get back to the bootloader so I can enter recovery the flash the rom ? Cuz last time I went there I got no option to go back until it was rebooted into the bootloader..

No probs mate. Glad I helped.
I tried installing a custom rom today and I think I messed up really bad, because my phone does not get pass the boot screen and I cannot enter the recovery setting. I think I messed up after entering
fastboot flash boot boot.img
in the command prompt and restarting because I forgot to put the rom zip on my phone. Since then I could not get pass the boot screen and even tried running a backup using CWM, but it didn't help. I then managed to mount my phone and put the rom onto it and installed it, but again it didn't help.
Now my phone can only enter the bootloader, I select hboot and fastboot, but nothing else works. Everytime I select recovery or factory reset I get the htc boot screen and it gets stuck. Does anyone have any solutions?
Thanks
did u backup your phone rom???
if you did u can go to recovery and restore it
and never try to change rom again trust me in that
otherwise i can't help bcuz i did the same mistake
I did make a backup, but like I said I can't enter recovery anymore, so I can't load the backup.
Thanks for trying to help anyway though.

Still not working, thanks anyway.
What HBOOT version do you have and what custom ROM are you trying to install?
edit: you didn't need to restart after changing boot.img cause in Recovery you can just go Advanced and then mount USB and copy the ROM or whatever files you want that way.

I have hboot 1.39.0000 and I was trying to install the latest cyanogenmod cm-10-20130106-NIGHTLY-endeavoru.
Yeah I realized this after I restarted and did it get the zip onto the phone. I think I installed it, but the phone is still stuck on the boot screen
UPDATE: Okay I've managed to install CWM recovery, so I think I'm making progress
You had to flash CWM again? Odd..
Anyway, if you happen to encounter the same problem with CM10 I suggest you try some other custom ROM.. Just make sure you "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and then "fastboot erase cache", and if for some reason you decide to format the sdcard or simply forget to add in the ROM zip, you can do it in Recovery when you mount the device as USB under Advanced options. Best of luck!

Yeah CWM didn't load up, but I got it working again. Well it seems I'm back to getting the rom to install and being stuck at the boot screen again, so maybe I just need to use a different rom. Thanks for the help though
Okay, I've tried installing a few roms, but unfortunately I'm still on the boot screen, I can sometimes even reach the cyanogenmod boot screen, but get stuck there. I've read that this might be kernel issue, does anyone have any ideas?

Hey all,
I have an HTC one X.
The Case, phoen wont boot to any screen except for, bootloader on recovery mode (including TWRP and CWM).
I have followed the instructions regarding the usage on HTC one X all in one tool, phone is rooted ( pic1.)
Afterwards, ive flashed, wiped formatted system, and then Flashed Stock ROM.
Phone is not booting farther than the CWM screen (pic2).
Any suggestion would be gladly accepted.
RUU?

Im on to it ...
did you flashed the boot.img from rom via fastboot? such things you should not forget...otherwise it wouldn't work so just try another rom wipe system, data, dalvik cache and cache in recovery flash the rom of your choice and in fastboot you have to flash the boot.img which is in the rom zip .with fastboot flash boot boot.img....then fastboot erase cache and fastboot reboot so that the phone reboots...then setup your phone and it's done
If you're running stock kernel you have to flash the original kernel and re-lock the phone, easiest way is using RUU (still have to relock your phone though)
Also, How is this a "development" for android?!!!

Thanks for putting your minds to it guys,
Thats the deal.
Rooted HTC oneX
1. While booting, goes straight to bootloader or into recovery...
2. I do the wipe, Dalvik and all of the other necessary
3. Flashed stock ROM, flashed any other possible ROM... reboot, and it goes back yo the bootloader menu.
Then, just to be clear.
Using the All in one HTC one X.
Re-Lock the phone
Went all the way from beginning.
1. Get token ID, Submit token ID, Unlock bootloader ( done, worked)
2. done the Wipe and re-flashed ROM... same result as before...
3. tried the RUU... nothing
4. i took out the boot.img out of the stock ROM and ran the and did a Kernel flash....
and now i have a pretty logo screen
Ha !! ive got it Runnin ! loaded Stock ROM !!
Thanks for all the Help!!
Hi All,
I've just tried to root my htc one x (international). using the All in one toolkit V3.0 [7-16-2013
I went through step 1 to 5 (unlock bootloader) with no problems. I perm rooted and flashed TWRP but now I'm stuck!
-On the bootloader screen, I select Hboot > recovery.
-It loads the 'teamwin' screen and I see all options (install wipe etc)
-Problem is that the touch screen stops working. When I hit the power button it just tells me to 'swipe to unlock' which doesn;t work either.
I searched for solutions online but cant find any. Anyone got suggestions? I hope I've provided sufficient information.
Thanks
Search for a thread with philz recovery, touch not working is because of an update that HTC put out.
Try and flash philz recovery
And more important.. make a nandroid backup! It will safe you so much hassle

Thanks a lot Stefan0vic. Sorry if this is a dumb question but should I download Philz software and then Flash it using the 'custom ROM' option in the all in one kit?
No you probably need to rename the file to recovery.img and flash it just like you did with twrp.
Great, I'm gonna try it out tonight, thanks a million guys.
Good luck!

Gentlemen, it worked! Thank you so much!!
Always good to hear that !
Hey Guys, has any of you got experience with installing roms through Philz?
Firsly I tried Cyanogenmod and although I got it to boot, it keeps crashing when I also install GAPPS (literraly unusable as I keep getting the error (unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped).
I therefore decided to give Viper a go, I cleared all cache/reset to factory reset. First I flashed the boot.img from viper through the all in kit ( I connect my phone to laptop in bootloader > Flash Custom rom). Then I reset into bootloader and boot philz .img so I can get back into philz < am I doing something wrong here? I cant think of another way to do it!
From Philz, I install the viper zip file. It starts up the wizard, but then halfway through installing it restarts the phone and all I see is the HTC one X loading screen.
I've now wiped it again and installed cyanogenmod without GAPPS for the time being, but I cant download apps as I dont have the playstore.
Any advise on how to fix either CM or Viper would be appreciated. Again, I did search but couldnt find any help on the combination of Philz and any of these 2 customer ROMS.
your help is much appreciated!!
Viper rom :
Flash the boot.img !
Inside recovery :
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Advanced-wipe dalvik cache
Mounts&storage-format cache,data,system
Then install zip from sdcard and choose the viper x rom.zip
If the installer stops halfway it could be a bad rom.zip download !

Thanks Hofs. When I flash the boot.img from the viper download package, it doesn't seem to bring me into any kind of recovery screen? Am I missing something?
Flashing the boot.img is done with the phone in the bootloader.
Try this :
Put the phone in the bootloader, copy the boot.img to the folder on the pc that contains the fastboot.exe file !
Then hold down shift and click the right mouse button while pointing in the folder with the fastboot.exe file.
Then select :
Open command window here
Then type there :
Fastboot flash boot boot.img (enter)
Fastboot erase cache (enter)
Then enter the recovery and do all steps i posted earlier
Right.. I think I'm missing one vital piece here
copy the boot.img to the folder on the pc that contains the fastboot.exe file

I don't have such a folder? Should I install the fastboot application first? Any chance you can give me a high level overview of how to use it? So far I've done everything using Philz and the All in one toolkit for the one X..

The all in one toolkit must have a folder with the fastboot file otherwise it can't work. Look inside those subfolders and do all steps i wrote from there
Ok there seems to be a fastboot.exe in the data folder of the all in one. I shall try this later when I get home. Thanks again chief!
Ok so installed the ROM, i can see the viper custom wallpaper but the touchscreen has stopped working again any ideas?
Sure you flashed this one

CASE CLOSED !
I am so stuck with this problem and have been searching forums for answers for days...Also, I am new at this. After much trial and effort I managed to
1. unlock my htc one x bootloader
2. install CWM recovery
3. install cyanogen mod
AND, it worked....however there were none of the google apps (gapps). So I downloaded them on the phone, went into CWM recovery and installed them from there. My phone restarted, then turned off. It now won't reboot.
It loads only as far as the HTC quietly brilliant logo. I can access bootloader through the power/vol.down keys. Then when I select 'recovery', it simply goes back to the "splash screen" described earlier.
I figured I would just try to reflash CWM and start over, but every time I flash CWM (and I have tried hundreds of times), the command lines say it has been done, but the phone just boots back to the splash screen again, and hangs there.
How do I get my phone back working again?
Many thanks in advance, and your patience is appreciated

If so try to flash another recovery just like Philz_Touch recovery.
thanks for your reply...i had already attempted Philz recovery 5.11.2, and just tried again. And again, the cmd box says it is written and finished, done and OKAY. Yet when I reboot or try to go to recovery, the phone immediately reverts to the splash screen still. Open to any ideas, and feel free to ask as many questions as needed...thanks Virgolib

Your recovery is fine just go back to bootloader and type in fastboot erase cache and then boot back to recovery.
Yep fastboot erase cache should do the trick indeed. Then start over with a full wipe !
Install CM rom, install gapps and then reboot. It doesn't work with a reboot in between !

but just to be certain i am completing the steps right, i open a command window and type the prompt; fastboot erase cache

i then manually through the volume buttons select the recovery option and press power to execute
just a thought gents, my bootloader indicates that my battery is low. i have been using this command script i found to charge it a little, but it doesn't seem to charge it much...could the low battery be the cause or at least contributing to my problem?

Yes, I am using the original white HTC cable and i am going directly into my computer's usb plug...sorry for the lag in response, i am in australia so probably sleeping when u reply, but thanks for your continued help.

Hi Treebill. I am using recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
This worked the first time, just doesn't seem to be working now. I have also given philzrecovery a go, to no avail.
Tried it all again this morning;
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.4.0-endeavoru.img
(and just for good measure),
fastboot erase cache...THEN
reboot bootloader...THEN
phone just goes to htc splash screen and hangs...also i try manually entering recovery through the vol.down/power buttons, with the same result
Also, i am not even trying to flash gapps right now, just get the phone back working. However i was pretty certain I was using the right version when i originally did flash gapps...
What if you reboot to recovery via command ?
Fastboot reboot recovery
Make sure you delete all recovery image files in the fastboot folder, download and copy a brand new one to the fastboot folder and rename the file to recovery.img
Then flash it
