Just like on the pc with VLC, you could improve the visual quality either changing contrast/saturation/sharpening the video. Since there is that program on the phone, is there a mod that could improve the quality of videos on the S3.
I've been hearing something along the lines of a "Bravia Engine" but I don't know about that. So what can I do to improve or sharpen my videos?
I assuming there isn't, it would be nice to get that video a bit more sharp. When I say video I mean video played on a video player, not recording videos.
I use Mx player pro and love it.

Bravia Engine is a rendering tweak that is normally on Sony phones but can be included on most others. It increases the color quality of the picture and sharpness. Its a small improvement but it's an improvement nonetheless.

I wouldn't try it, I tried to flash and started to have weird issues with things like the ffc not turning off for the keep awake feature and some motion features not working. If you want to try it, you can install it through pimp my rom.

Just a query, now we have the camera libraries, is it possible that they could be edited to reduce the compression in video recording? Could the bitrate be upped to give better video?
Sent from my LT15i using Tapatalk
With libralies you cant do NOTHING.
It just to make easy for devs to port it in their rom.

Ah ok. In that case, is there anything possible to improve bitrate?

How do you mean?

One of the main issues with the video recording on the arc etc is it records in low bitrate. If we can increase the bitrate we can improve the video.

Try igCamera or igCameraPro - you can set the video quality - i use 8 mbit (1280x720) on Arc S
Just had a look, I got the free one, limited to 640*480, but the paid version doesn't show in the market. Might be because of the rom I'm using
Ill try another rom and have a look, thanks!

Yeah, the pay version is called igCameraPro - had to search for it manually.
But I'm not sure if 1280x720 requires Arc S hardware. Not sure the Free version has limitation in that regard.
Found it. Got 1280*720 30fps at 20Mb working fine! Have to drop the sound quality for it to work though. Setting sound to stereo causes the framerate to go crazy.

Cool. Stereo shouldn't matter since Arc/S doesn't have stereo mic anyway.

The Arc has the capabilities to record in stereo.

how come i hear ppl say that braiva engine is not compatible with the ics gallery?
I think it's active in the Xperia Gallery and media player. Other than that, I'm not sure but I don't think it's active all the time.
Bravia Engine improves photo and video quality ONLY in stock Gallery app and when viewing videos with the stock video player.

so leaving it on wont drain extra battery?
There's hardly (if any) a negative effect on battery life. There's no harm in leaving it on.
Did the camera video effects remove in 4.2?
yes, it's no longer in the video camera setting...
however, luckily, at least it's still with the gtalk...
I loved those effects. Hoping they come back bin a future release.

I was recording a live band and every now and then there's a slight "scritch" sound.

please replace the [dot] thanks
Does anyone have the same problem?
Same here. Recording high frequencies causes same screeching type sound in videos.

ahhh, I guess there are limitations to this device. their music was a bit loud anyway. I did several recordings and the audio seemed fine albeit not crystal clear as it's only a smartphone.
Ive noticed similar problems with all of the galaxy s/note phones ive owned. Its improved alot from the galaxy s1 though where to much high or low noise would sound distorted. I noticed that using a pair of headphones with the built in mic helped me a bit on older phones but I have yet to try it on my note 2. Maybe if there was a audio tweaking mod like voodoo that we could try?
Hey guys & girls..
I've got a question for you ^^
Is there an app/mod/ROM where I have (better) control over the auto focus while recording?
Sometimes the camera focuses even though the "picture" is sharp, which is annoying sometimes..
So I thought maybe there's something that gives me better control over the focus..
And don't forget, I'm talking about making videos, not pictures..
There are a few apps, which give more controls, but they seem to be picture related..
Maybe someone can recommend an app or something :/
Thanks in advance
