Hi guys,
Shortly after I got my screen replaced (and possibly the flex cable) I noticed my Play turning off when it was in my pocket.
I went to investigate and found out it turns off because it gets "tapped" on the top. I can't use my phone with this issue.
Opening and then closing the gamepad at normal speed turns it off completely too.
I'm running CM9 (FXP) and I've just done a wipe and still nothing...
Anything is appreciated,
- Shane

I think your flex cable wasn't attached properly. I had a similar problem earlier

Possibly the prawns that connect to the battery are damaged/loose. Therefore not connecting to where they should be, when u drop your phone into your pocket or slide open gamepad.

I bought a Samsung Glide i927 phone last month in the US, i bought it unlocked as i am from argentine, and i wanted to use it with movistar.
Recently the phone started to crash a lot, by that i mean that the screen starts going white, with horizontal lines and pixels of different colors appearing, then just turn off or restarts itself, only to crash again as soon as it starts an then turns off.
When this happens i try to start the phone and select the shut down option myself to see if the next time it starts it doesnt crash. But sooner or later it happens again.
This problem its happening too often, and not while doing something in particular like running an app or something. Sometimes it crashes just by plugging it to the power adapter, it even shows the white screen with the lines instead of the charging battery image when i charge it while turned off. I have already try to fix it upgrading android or doing a factory reset, but that didnt work.
Anyone have any idea of how to resolve the problem, or if its a hardware malfunction that cant be fixed?
To make things more difficult, as i said earlier im from argentine, and i cant go to AT&T or Samsung to get it fixed or get a replacement. English is not my first language, so please forgive my orthographic mistakes.
Thanks
This really sounds like some hardware problem, but to be safe, learn how to use Odin and use it to revert your phone to completely stock condition (cleaner than factory reset).

I tried to do that, but the first times when Odin try to reboot the phone it just freezes and i have to unplug it. After many tries it finally finished, but the phone keeps freezing and crashing.
The phone even crashes while turned of and conected to the power adapter.
Do you think that with LiteROM 0.9.0, that might fix this issues?
I've got reboots too, try to disable auto brighness
It helps for me

Power button issue
I am having a similar problem. At first, it just happened on rare occasions. However, today, it started doing it repeatedly. The phone was unusable. I did some checking around, and it appears that the power buttons on Samsung phones are prone to sticking. Some people suggest you actually remove the battery and slam the power button against a table. I wasn't going to do that, because I could just see it doing even more damage. What I did instead was firmly tap the power button repeatedly. It seemed to unstick the power button and allow the phone to function again.
Another alternative is to have the power button replaced, but that might be a hassle.
First of all, sorry for my bad english.
I bought it on amazon a few days ago, I have the same problem...
I thing aznemesis is right, because my power buttom is very sensitive, in fact, some times, when I press the button smooth and fast, to turn off the display like, the typical menu appears as if I had pressed the button for much longer period. Which proves your theory. The problem is if I hit the button over a table and the button breaks here in Chile do not exist spares of the terminal
Well, I did. I couldn't stand the desire to do so. After nearly 18 hours, the terminal isn't rebooted again.

The horizontal lines on the screen sound as if it is an overheating issue. What were you doing before your phone shut off? Are you using the factory charger?
cure found
take the battery out...blow on the power button with some compressed gas to get the dust out....then pour a drop of silicone based lubricant on the power button so that most of it gets in the gaps...then hit the power button a few times....haven't had any reboots since then
Hi guys, I'm looking here for help so I will try to describe the problem
So far, I've dismantled it 2 times not completely (didn't dismantle to part of tochscreen, digitizer etc.) and restored stock software twice, also tried rooting and installin CWM.
The problem is : 1.st thing- I't boots up and everything works, I lock it and unlock it without problems.
2.nd thing- If I try to unlock it with opening gamepad the screen stays black, even if I put game pad back.. But touch screen is usable because I can hear the sound and vibration feedback. The display becomes usable after some time of laying around.
3.rd thing- If I unlock it normally like in situation 1 and open gamepad and use phone for while, after I lock it (with opend/closed gamepad) the screen won't come on like in situation 2, but will become usable after some time of laying.
My main suspect is main flax cable.
Any kind of help is appreciated.

Hi!
I brought my Xperia Play phone USED two years ago and I've never had any problems with it.
However, recently, the phone has started to freeze itself in "screensaver" mode (Where the screen goes black after 15 seconds and locks the phone), but the screen won't light up no matter which button I press. I've had to restart the phone every time this happens.
It's been behaving strange at start up as well, as it sometimes take 20 minutes just for it to turn on, while on other occasions, it won't turn on at all!
Is this problem caused by the battery, or is it the hardware?
Is it with stock firmware?

Yes.
I've never modded it or installed custom firmware/apps.
Have you tried factory resetting it?

Yes, but it didn't fix it. The problem still occurs.
tldr: Black screen, no display, everything works "under" (I can answer the phone etc). Not a flex cable problem because occurs randomly, regardless of the slider being open or closed. The problem also occurs during boot up, so rather not a software problem.
I think I have something similiar. Everything was fine until a few days ago the screen didn't want to unlock..or at least I thought it was that.
Basically the phone sometimes works OK but sometimes if I turn off (lock) the screen, it won't go back. To be precise, the phone works and if someone calls me I can pick it up moving the finger where the slider should be, it's just the display doesn't turn on. Same goes for booting, bootloader logo etc, so IMO it's not a software problem.
Strange thing is that it just randomly pops back, sometimes when I move the gamepad slider, sometimes when I put in a jack cable or if I hard reset the phone (remove battery). I've had problems with the flex cable in the past and this time I know that it's not it (no difference if I open/close the slider).
My guess would be some power supply or LCD driver IC issues, because the screen stops working almost everytime if I put the phone into the dock. Moreover, if the screen doesn't work, the orange charging LED is not working (green and blue are OK). The moment the screen starts working, the orange charging LED starts working too.
it's very strange but I'm used to electronics doing strange stuff. Just wondering if I should give a try disassembling the phone and trying to fix it or just buy a new one or something?
I might add that I have bought a new battery ~3 months ago, but it's been working fine to this point. I have tried if the same problem occurs with the old/original battery and it's the same.
well, any ideas?
edit: This video shows something very similiar (except the backlight): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m4p0-kv1cxA
Same problem. And I guess this guy has it too.

Any help?
When I was using this phone the screen suddenly turned black. No powering off or anything, the phone was nearly fully charged anyway. Nothing seems to be working anymore. I tried turning it back on but it's completely unresponsive. It won't even charge anymore. I was wondering if there was any solutions to this and if other people where having this problem or did my phone just brick itself
Are you able to get to the bootloader? by pressing volume + and power at the same time. It may be worth trying to flash stock also. I am no expert its just what I would try.

Of course I did. But at no avail. Today, I found out, that the new screen is partially working. I can see very dark picture, it means, I have no back light. Tried to set it up from engineers mode, but no luck.
So the new screen is on, but without back light, and the phone heats pretty much in the top area.

If so. Try to pull down the statusbar and swipe a bit under the statusbar line, in the top of the screen from left to right, with some luck you will tap the brightness switcher

I can connect to the phone through Vysor, and when I change the brightness level there, there is no change at all. The Phone does not react to any settings change at all.
Tried eragon rom, but still no change....

Better hope you still have your garantie, because theres legit no way to restore it. You just have to send it back for it to get fixed. This happened to me once and yesterday twice. sadly I am to dissapointed from this. I am never buying an Elephone again ! PS bro it isnt worth sending this hell of a **** peace back. It costs and the blackscreen thing is gonna happen again in 6-8 months. SO go out there and buy yourself a real phone not this bull****. I have to do the same rn.

Just happened to me with my 3 year old phone. Left overnight with enough charge. Pressed the side button and nothing - held it down to restart and then complete blank.
Repalced the battery about 1 month ago with one from AliExpress for £5.
So using the kit provided with the battery or a watchmakers screwdriver - undo the 12 tiny screws and remove the white surround and then the inner back with the phone's number on it. Next disconnect the battery socket but be careful as it is tiny - use a torch and magnifier if vision not good. Remove the sim card. Wait 10 minutes - did this with the blue light flashing - it stopped finally on disconnection.
Put it all back together and hey presto fully working phone
Dear,
So I have my phone for 2 weeks now and suddenly my screen creates these black/green/white/blue lines on my phone and my phone screen was full of it, I couldn't see anything so I restarted the phone by holding my power button, it restarted and on boot some of these lines occurred again. I decided to download a game to test my phone (Need for speed No limit) and I saw like some graphical glitches and also suddenly my phone went to invert colors without me turning the option on in quick settings or accessibility.
I'll take a look how often I get these and will probably just go to the store where I bought it, or is there a quick for this?
Still on Android 6.0 no root.
It's most likely a hardware issue and you're best to return it to the store you got it and get a new one.

Does this happen on boot animation too? ( the google and android loading logo ) If yes, then it's probably caused by faulty lcd and/or lcd cable. If not, then something is wrong with the software.

I am experiencing this issue as well. I get it most of the time on boot. If i leave it on the glitchy screen long enough, the phone will just reboot.
