pdanet messed with my wifi, please help! - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i've been using the pdanet for usb tethering my laptop. i have the 800at root phone. everything had been working great. i went ahead and purchased the full version so some all websites would work.
now both my laptop and play cannot connect via wifi. i'm really pissed. i hope someone can help me and give me suggestions.

You're not being specific. Can't connect to wifi on your home router? Since USB tethering have nothing to do with WiFi connection.
Try uninstalling it on both the Play and your laptop. Then uninstall the wifi driver for your laptop. Then factory reset your router. Then reinstall the wifi driver for your laptop. Then connect to wifi from your laptop.

How to connect to internet on a laptop?

I have no problem to connect to the internet (to update weather, news etc) when I connect my P3300 to my desktop (which connect to the internet through a hardwire modem and a hardwire router). When I connect the P3300 to my laptop (the laptop is connect to internet through the WIFI rounter), I then cannot update those weather or news in my P3300. What setup do I need to change in the P3300 in order to be able to get to the internet through the laptop's WIFI connection? Thank you for any help.
Should happen automatically if you have a standing ActiveSync connection. No special settings needed. On the other hand - Check your firewall. Maybe some soft on the laptop is preventing your PDA from getting access to the internet!
Thanks Theonly1....one other thing though, I am using Vista ultimate x32....
not tried this yet but....just plug in and it will recognise the phone as a modem or GSM connection for internet surfing on the laptop?
Thanks again
Thanks for the feedback
Hi,
Thanks for the feedback. I have try to disable the firewall, but it still cannot connect to the internet. By the way, the laptop us window XT. If I enable the WIFI on the P3300, then it can connect to the internet by it's own WIFI. But if I disable it's own WIFI, then it did not connect to the internet throught the laptop's WIFI connection. I think there must be some setting in the network connection, so that it will be able to use the laptops WIFI and get information through it. But I do not know how. Any help is appreciated. Thanks again

Can I use my PDA be the WIFI-connecter to let my computer get internet assess?

Hi,
use Internetconnection Sharing.
wfg
Starbase64
just install the WMWifiRouter...
Let's be clear. You're computer does not have wi-fi i presume. You would like to connect the wi-fi on your phone then connect your phone to the laptop via usb or bluetooth and surf the net?
I've tried it like this and couldn't get it to work. I didn't try very hard but I connected the wi-fi on the phone then opened Internet conection sharing and tried to plug the usb in. You could try this while disableing your 3g conection. That may have been what i was doing wrong.
This should do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377047 but I couldnt get it to work last time I tried. If you have any more joy than I did, please let me know.
Alternatively, wait for WMWiFiRouter 1.20, which should have the function.

Internet Connection Sharing with Sprint

My wife has the Sprint version of the HTC Snap with the stock Windows Standard 6.1 ROM. I'm trying to setup Internet Connection Sharing so that she can tether to her laptop using a USB cable.
I don't think this phone has WiFi, so I cannot use a WiFi Router.
When I go into ICS, select Connect, and plug in the cable to the laptop, it seems to connect to the laptop, but displays Waiting for Network on the phone. The laptop cannot conenct to the Internet. Did Sprint do something to disable ICS? The phone has a good signal and has no issues connecting to the Internet by itself.
Has anyone gotten this to work on the Sprint network?

How to share WiFi to computer.

Hi,
don't ask me why but I need to share the wifi from my gnex to a computer.
My GNEX is connected to the internet over wifi, I need to share this connection from my gnex to another computer using wifi or cable.
Is this possible?
I solved, it seems that my GNEX is able to theter the internet over USB without additional software, it isn't able to share the wifi over wifi but this is not a problem since I can do it with the cable.

Use Tethering as Lan Modem Connection?

I am trying to use my not just a hot spot tethering location, but as the internet access portal for my wireless lan. This way I can use multiple devices and not have to manually connect and reconnect to the phone for tethering. From the reading I've done, the best way is to connect the phone to the router through USB and set up USB tethering on the phone. Am I on the right path? Has anyone else done this? What kind of router do I need to pull this off?
TIA

Hi i was able to do this once. it worked great. i reset my router and somehow i cant the right settings again. heres what i did. connected mobile hot spot to computer via USB, i then bridged the connection with my Ethernet adapter. i then plugged a network cable to my routhers wan port (input) my router has a custom dd-wrt firmware. and i was able to leave hotspot connected to pc and share it out my eithernet port to my router, at that point my router would throw the signal to the air. unfortunately for me i for got my routers admin password, so when i reset the router to default i lost the settings that made it work. i haven't found them again. it works and it works well. if you have any luck let me know. i hope some of the info helps
