Virgin E4GT MMS/etc... Fix after ROM flash? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Hey guys, I joined just a month ago and I thought I had everything worked out for when I activate my Virgin mobile E4GT. However, I can't seem to find the thread around here about how to fix the MMS issue/etc for a Virgin E4GT when flashing it to a Rom specified for the Sprint E4GT. I've seen plenty of fixes, but none of them hold a similar method. I would like a method that is known to work currently because I would like this flashing transition to be as smooth as possible.
Extra info: I'm trying to install the CyanogenMod 10.1.
I apologize for my noob question, however I think this is important to know considering all the new peeps coming from the new carriers. Maybe add these details to the stickied thread of noob questions??
I will thank your posts! Much appreciated for those who can help me out!
EDIT:
Problems
1. Okay, I've been on the ROM Paranoid Android 2.54 and the creator says it contains all the fixes for Virgin mobile, however, I'm receiving the MMS issues. It was working fantastic last night, until I went and cleaned my phone with SD Maid Pro/System Tuner Pro and froze a few apps. I don't think I disabled anything that would effect my MMS. (Just TvOut, Live wallpapers, etc...)
2. Been also trying to improve 4G data speeds via ##3282# (##DATA#), except I get nothing but "USSD code running" or "The number you have called is invalid, please check the number and call again"
Does anyone have an idea as how I get around this? I've looked all around and the Virgin mobile users are not only scattered in random places, but far and few between. I'd like to get active in this community, but I find it hard to without a decently functional phone. Please help?

[Q] Galaxy S2 flashed to Metro PCS CDMA

Hello,
I have a galaxy s2 flashed to MetroPCS as follows:
model number: sph-d710
Android version: 2.3.6
baseband version: s:d710.10 s.el29
kernel version: 2.6.35.7-sph-d710.el26-cl839620
build number: calkuin's e4gt rom v2.7
hardware version: d710.10
I paid a shop here in san francisco to flash it for me and i am extremely happy with this phone. The phone is GREAT and I have unlimited everything for 50.00 per month.
However when I got home I installed MetroPCS VisualVoicemail.apk version 3.14.22 and everything worked great. Then the other day my visual voice mail stopped working. I tried everything to get it to work and I even completely uninstalled and reinstalled it but it still doesn't work.
Also as you see above I am on Caulkin's 2.7 can I upgrade to Caulkin's 3.0 without doing a complete wipe? Or maybe ICS????
Thank you in advance for any help you can offer !!!!
Everything else works on my phone except MMS and 4G naturally.

[Q] 4G Service on 4.2 ROMs

I am having trouble understanding my problem. I have been on a 4.1.1 ROM for the longest time and I decided to take the plunge to 4.2.
I have attempted to install 2 seperate ROMs but I can only get 3G service on my phone. I did install the ROMs correctly (wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, let phone settle, etc). I also attempted to change my network modes. Finally, I tried, on the recommendation of someone from a ROM thread, to try and download a big file that would "kick-start" my 4G service but to no avail. This has happened across 2 ROMs; this is why I am asking for some insight here instead of the ROM threads directly.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Useful Info:
Stock Kernel
4.1.1 ROM I was using here - Full 4G coverage
First 4.2 ROM I tried here
Second 4.2 ROM I tried here
Final Note: my highest internet speed tests appear to be 7.56 mb/s down & 1.55 mb/s up on the 4.2 ROM.

You need to flash the latest modem. Search and read.

Ya know, I actually searched through the forums for a few hours this morning, and I was hesitant to post something because I was almost positive that someone like you would jump all over me for not searching.
Also, where might one find the information that says going from a 4.1.1 ROM to a 4.2.1 ROM will require a new modem to get 4G service? Please, show me the way because apparently I don't know how to search or read.
Let's not start a pissing match. The answer is correct.
How were you supposed to know you needed a new modem? There is no way to know, but many people have had this issue recently. So, searching for the right thing, I guess
Your second rom you tried has a large Q&A Thread I made http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36890819#post36890819 that itsmikeramsay put in the OP and in my thread I cover that it is something known and what to do.
and in the last few pages of the Illusion thread it is discussed lol.
So you know, your coverage is no different then before, it just doesn't show a "4g" or "H+"
searched "no 4g" in the illusion thread and this is what I got... a whole bunch of posts lol http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=132106205

Fair enough! You're completely right; I did not search correctly. My apologies
I did, however, use the recommended Team Sonic Modem Flasher, flashed the modem that said "(latest)" at the end of it, and I still have no 4G icon. Do I need to flash the ABSOLUTE most recent modem listed here as the absolute latest?

No worries, and I have never had the issue so... I am going off but what I've read people report. They say they flashed the latest radio/modem and it was fixed. Also, the only time H+ will show is when data is being transferred (used) during Idle it shows 3g.

Thanks! That was what I was looking for. I figured out that you have to flash the LATEST modem on the page; you cannot use the Team Sonic flasher because it does not have the latest modems loaded into it.
DocHoliday made the Sonic flasher obsolete. That big sticky thread has everything.

[Q] I got a "Galaxy SII" from Boost Mobile USA, is... this that device?

so, I got a phone (model number sph-d710bst) from the Boost Mobile USA carrier. It's marketed simply as the "Samsung Galaxy S II on Boost", but apparently this phone goes by many names (Samsung Galaxy SII, Sprint Epic 4G Touch, Samsung Epic 4G Touch, Epic 4g, etc...). Basically, it runs on the Sprint 4G (not LTE) network because Boost is owned by Sprint, and it calls itself sph-d710bst.
Long story short, the stock rom on this thing sucks. The UI is atrocious, it has some USB connectivity issues, and it won't let me permanently suppress it's constant demand to be OTA updated (I can't accept because it will probably remove my ability to root).
So, I wanted to get cyanogenmod, or another good rom that has root, on here. What's the best way to go about it? Does root exist for this device? Is this even the right forum for this device?

you can root using cf-auto root on all stock roms, with the possible exception of FL24. In that scenario, you just Odin an older prerooted rom. In short, there is no reason to deny the OTA.
What firmware are you currently on?

oh, so the OTA doesn't remove the root exploits? that's good.
As for the firmware version, I'm not sure. I haven't rooted or otherwise modified this device yet, I just got it from the Boost Mobile store. (Boost is owned by Sprint and is a no-contract way to get Sprint service). Under "about phone" in settings, I have this data:
Code:
Model number: SPH-D710BST
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: S:D710.10 S.FI22
Kernel version: 3.0.15-981989

Build number: IMM761.FI22
Hardware version: D710.10
I used Exynosabuse to root my device: http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...ecurity-hole-demoed-and-plugged-by-chainfire/
Worked like a charm
I have the version from Virgin Mobile and installed a TW JB rom (jellyverse). I can't get MMS working on it though. I switched APN settings through ##data# and still nothing is working. Does anyone know the solution for this?

does exynosabuse also unlock the bootloader so I can put cyanogenmod (or similar) on my device? The stock rom on this thing sucks.
oh, and looking aroudn the forum, it looks like this device is easy to brick. What should I not do?

The OTA will remove the root exploit. I am saying that rerooting is super easy with cf-auto root and you shouldn't deny the OTA based on wanting to root.
You should take the ota and then root using traditional methods.

Pervasive Problem across CM ROMS

I am currently running PAC RC3 for the Verizon GS4 (JFLTEVZW) running K-toonez kernel and the VRUAMDK firmware (Never updated).
My problem is that since CM has switched to unified builds for the GS4, I, a Verizon customer, keep getting MetroPCS and Sprint APNs in Hangouts, preventing me from sending or receiving MMS messages. This has happened with CM11 Milestones, PAC builds, and other CM-core ROMs I've flashed in the last four months or so. Dirty Unicorns runs like hell on my phone, but at least it gives me proper Verizon connection info.
I've tried manually changing and editing the APN info but they don't save, ever. So, i am kind of lost.
Does anyone know what the fix is? I've googled all over the place and I cannot find what I am looking for.
Thanks for the help folks, I appreciate it.
hello good I have a Hyundai Eagle octa which had a problem unistaller something the rom and not the camera connects more can not find the rom even a recovery of this cell someone could help me I have done all

[Q] Need Some T-Mo Note II Advice

I have a pristine looking insurance replaced Note II that I'd like to Root and Rom with a stable Rom that retains T-Mobil's WiFi Calling feature.
Also, I'm getting the unlock code for the device sent to me by T-Mobile; which I'd like to do as well. I do have a T-Mobile SIM for it and can get at an AT&T SIM to unlock it if necessary.
As far as Root/Rom goes; I'm fairly certain this limits me to Android 4.3 and below; since T-Mo hung Note II users out to dry for a factory 4.4.x update; and I need the WiFi calling feature to work properly.
This specific device showed up with the following on it and is currently locked.
Firmware: 4.1.2
Baseband: T889UVBMD1
Kernel 3.0.31-935627
Build No: JZ05K.T889UVBMD1 (probably redundant info)
I have 2 Questions to start:
1. Should I unlock this before or after flashing root/ROM?
2. What Root/Rom(s) is (are) stable and let's the T-Mobile WiFi calling feature working properly. (I've seen Info on Jedi Rom, not sure which of them would be best or if there are others that keep WiFi Calling)
Some advice on this would be sincerely appreciated; since I have no experience with unlocking and/or root/ROMs; though I've been reading and really can't find info on my first question.
TIA to anyone that can point me in the right direction.
cef1000
1) If you are getting the unlock code from T-mobile then it does not matter if you unlock before or after you root your phone.
2) I would advise to read through the forums in dev section and decide for yourself which ROM better suits your needs. Only Stock based TW ROMS retain/support WiFi calling and those are the ones to look out for. A quick glance for feature list under OP should let you know if WiFi calling is supported.

Thank you very much ciphercodes.
Yeah its a tmo unlock code, so one less thing my noobishness to worry about..
I have been reading through the dev section trying to figure that out and it looks like the Jedi roms retain wifi calling, and to keep it we can't go past tmos 4.3 stock ROM rev.
Not sure what TW and OP means. I can see why it would have to be based on tmo stock ROM though.
I'll dig more in the dev section.
Thanks again

Sorry, I should have been clear, TW - Touchwiz this is Samsung propriety front-end interface and Wifi calling is only supported in Touchwiz ROMS.
OP - I mean Original Post or the first post where all information about ROM is listed. OP also stands for Original Poster.
