wifi issue - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Make sure WiFi on even when sleeping is set to always in the WiFi advanced settings. If that don't help then maybe it's disconnecting from WiFi because of bad signal or interference causing the phone to disconnect from WiFi. Interference like turning on a microwave.

The thing is I DONT want it to connect.. I want it to connect ONLY when I manually connect it.

Well. One thing you can check is make sure WiFi is off. If it is you can go to WiFi setting and forget all the WiFi connections. If that don't work try going to manage apps > all > settings > wipe the cash and the data, reboot and reset up your settings. If that don't work reflash your modem. If that don't work I'd factory reset and reinstall. Might be a bad install for what ever reason.

WiFi turns off by itself

Got my sgs3 Sunday and when I got home turned on WiFi and started playing with it I notice that I lose network for a second after about 15 mins and my WiFi icon on the status bar disappear but network comes back on .. but in settings it is greyed out and I can't turn it off then back on till I reboot 0_o...thought maybe after I rooted and flash AOKP it would be fixed but no! I'm on T-Mobile and AOKP..so is it a bad WiFi driver or...? Any ideas?
#*0011# press the menu key. Select wifi. uncheck wifi power saver mode. Its should be green when on black off. Make sure its not on and done go back to home screen. Your phone should reboot the wifi driver and your done.
This method works for 4.0.4 any of the roms. Cm10 doesn't work. Cm9 haven't tried but I'm sure it'll work for u.
Hit the thanks if I've helped!

JB has these wifi issues I was expiriencing the same problems on cm10 as well. (I know not the same but both are jb) I decided to downgrade to the intrigue rom r3. It has smooth transitions. Real buttery and it let me access the wifi power saver mode by down ng the method above. I'll look into aokp and see if I can find a fix for u.

For anyone who has already turned off WiFi PSM, is anyone experiencing this setting turning itself back on? I have turned it off twice today and every so often it turns back on which ends up turning my WiFi back off...

Question: are you rebooting your phone when this happens?
Cuz if you are that's normal on every reboot you have to go back and turn it off again.

would the method above work for me? since yesterday, my wifi kept turning on by itself. After I turned the wifi off for like a couple minutes then it'll turn on automatically again. I have the Keep Wifi on during sleep set as "only when plugged in" and it never happen to be before until yesterday. My power saving in the setting menu has always been off too. Please help! :crying::crying:
Install the app called "Wifi Fixer" app to the solve the issue.
Whatever Google did to cause a variety of wakelock problems, having a strong wifi signal seems to solve them. Apparently, wakelocks occur when there are unreliable connections to Google's servers.

Large battery drain

Recently I have been having something, I am not sure what drain lots of battery with leaving no trace that I can see for wakelocking... but it IS keeping my phone awake.
Also I don't even use maps and it eats up a ton of battery wth.
Set your wifi to turn off when your screen is off.
WiFi settings > menu button> advanced> keep wifi on > never
That should help some.
Also, what is your screen on time?

That should work too. The only other way to figure out what is taking all your battery is to scour Better battery stats for rogue wake locks and such. I un installed all my user apps and am reinstalling as I use them so that I don't have a ton of extra stuff running in the background eating all my battery.

Also for note: I am on LTE because I am at school.. some of the building have really bad connection/ 1 or 2 bars LTE.
If I knew how to turn off LTE I probably would...
Also why is maps so high I don't use it.

I find LTE chews up battery. To turn it off should be settings/more settings/ mobile networks/ network mode. And then choose the one under LTE. Saves lots of battery. Also might want to disabled GPS. I looks like it is on according to pics.

Tips/Tricks to prevent connect to attwifi?

Any tips/tricks to preventing connection to attwifi without turning wifi off? It's speed is horrible in most places, and would just rather stay hspa+/LTE.
I've tried deleting WISPr_Android22_postpaid.apk in /system/app, yet it still seems to connect. Is it going to connect whether we like it or not because it's in our data plans?
There's a check box in Advanced wireless settings to turn that off.

Sprint Connections Optimizer

First off, a thousand apologies if there is already a post or thread regarding my issue. I could not find it.
After using ROM toolbox pro to uninstall sprint connections optimiser my WiFi still turns on pretty frequently by itself. Is there some other app I need to freeze or uninstall to keep this from happening?
I've looked in WiFi settings for an option to disable "notify me when networks are available" but couldn't find that.

WiFi not working

Hey everybody!
Currently I am running the Lifeless v14 Rom on my phone and the phone will not connect to a WiFi connection. After I input the password it just goes to saved but will not connect. I have tried with multiple connections and different ROMs and it only does this on stock based ROMs. I would appreciate any help, thanks in advanced.

If you haven't figured this out yet, maybe this will work.
ZVB has some issues with WiFi. Turn WiFi off, reboot phone, then check to see if Wi-Fi stayed off. If it stayed off, then you should just be able to turn it on and it should work. If it turned itself back on, turn it off, reboot, and more it should work.
If you have a tethering app, that will mess with WiFi. You can only run one or the other per reboot.

I think I tried it before but I'll try it again since I reflashed. I haven't installed any apps whatsoever so I know there is nothing that should be regulating my WiFi connection. Also whenever I tap on Connection Optimizer it says "Setup has not finished yet. Please try again later." I don't know how long I need to wait, it's been a few hours now..
Scratch that, turning off the connections optimizer didn't work.
