Lumia 900 Telcel successful rom update - Nokia Lumia 900

I just finished updating my Rogers Lumia 900 with the Mexican Telcel rom to 7.10.8858.136. I was not having any success with the force update method being talked about with Zune. If I turned off the data and wifi (or airplane mode on), I would get an error in Zune saying it couldn't connect. I just used the Cab method made easy with the program SevenEighter found from this link. http://www.wpcentral.com/tool-make-installing-windows-phone-78-update-easier. If you are running one of these roms, and not having any updating success, try it out. It took 2 times of running the program to get the 7.8 update. Internet sharing and MMS both still work which is the reason I switched to the Telcel rom from the stock Rogers rom since I unlocked it and am on Bell and wanted those features back.

Has anyone tried this with an at&t lumia 900??

bump, has anyone been able yet to flash any ROM (other than AT&Ts) to a Lumia 900 RM-808 from AT&T ??

How to Change Product Code

I'm currently using Rogers Lumia 900 (RM-808). I would like to update the firmware to RM-823 so that I can have a non-Rogers firmware. Is it possible to change the product code at all?
Or is it better for me to flash a ATT firmware instead>?
As far as I know, there are a few people trying to do this but nobody has successfully flashed the phone.. They've been able to trick the flashing software into interpreting the RM-823 ROM as an upgrade to their RM-808 phone, but once the flashing process begins it stops around 5% and the phone reboots apparently with no changes...
I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to flash the AT&T firmware..I have an AT&T phone, it is also RM-808, so even if it were possible to flash to the AT&T firmware I don't see how it would help you.

Get internet sharing and MMS working on unlocked Rogers (and AT&T?)

I finally got my internet sharing and MMS working on my unlocked Rogers Lumia 900 running on Bell. Earlier this week, I came across this page. http://forums.wpcentral.com/lumia-900/197920.htm. If you follow his instructions (minus the unplugging the cable during the rom flashing), you should have working internet sharing and MMS without having to input any APN settings. The first time I started it with the TelCel rom, I still had to input my APN to get data to work. Then I performed a hard reset by holding volume down, power, and camera buttons. After that, it picked up the correct settings from the sim card and everything works as it's supposed to. The only downside to some people is that now instead of showing "LTE" in the status bar, it shows "4G" and instead of "4G" when you are on the HSPA network, it shows an "H". I think this is a truer representation of the network you are on anyways since HSPA isn't a true 4G network like the American companies would have us believe.
Please note that if you are going to do this, you will lose any unsynced data on your phone and will also have to reinstall all your apps so backup what you need to.

Seems interesting. I will wait for the 7.8 version to come out. I wouldn't want my phone to be stuck at 7.5 for some reason after trying this.

If for some reason it doesn't update to 7.8, you could always just flash the stock Rogers rom back to your phone and then get 7.8.

Have no problem with 4G, sharing and MMS on original AT&T firmware (using my lum with Europe operators).
Could it be a SIM card flag that prevents the sharing, the euro ops SIMS dont have it
Could it be a SIM card flag that prevents the sharing, the euro ops SIMS dont have it but the NA ops do?

May be, may be... But I had problem too with this features, when it worked on a 1st firmware (flashed by AT&T, not by me). Then I decided to flash it on my own via Care Suite (had flashed the earliest firmware, then updated via Zune). Now it works without any problems. After flashing try to not use the Nokia's Network Setup. If sharing would be OK, you could install NNS on your choice
It works for me after doing a hard reset with t) mobile, if I run NetworkSetup then it stops working. If I insert my att sim then it also stops working.

One more datapoint...
Recently unlocked, using Taiwan Cellular unable to tether.
Before installing Network Setup receive message: no data connection found...
After installing Network Setup, "to enable tethering on this device, go to att.com...".
Same SIM card in HD7 allows internet sharing... no problem. So it's not the SIM.
On HD7, data connection shows "H" but on Lum900 showing "4G"... (not a problem, just observation)
Have hard reset with Taiwan SIM, no joy. Reflashed using Nokia Care Suite... same results.
1. It's clear, stay away from Network Settings app. Even overriding APN settings results in same bogus ATT message.
Any point in flashing a pre-8779 rom? One of the TelCel MX or Claro LTE roms?
To flash another RM808 carrier's rom on top of an ATT RM808 device, is it a straight flash with NCS or need to rename files?

Wp 7.8 installation

hi
been a long time user of the xda forums and love the site thanks to all u who keep it up and running :good:
so i got me the lumia 900 a couple of weeks ago and started waitimg for the upcoming 7.8 update but i`m not the most patiend guy around so
when finally the 7.8 leak came out i figured why the hell not try to get it to my phone
never flashed a windows phone before so had to do some reading to figure out how to do it
and it seems quite hard to find any deasent information anywhere or everything i splattered around on different sites
so i thought i`d make a little guide here to all of you because it was rather easy after you got all you need.
so here we go:
1.download navifirm+
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Nokia/NaviFirm-Plus.shtml
2.download nokia care suite 5.0
http://www.nokiabreak.com/download-nokia-care-suite.html
3. install navifirm+
4. download the correct package your lumia rm-808 or rm 823
the latest firmware is the one that is the last the list... (your RM is written on the box your phone came with)
im from finland so mine is RM-823 Country Variant WHITE
5.install nokia care suite
after installation also install the drivers that are in the nokia installation folder
6. unhide all your folders
7. go to c:\\programdata\nokiapackages\ CREATE A FOLDER NAMED Products
8. cut the package you donloaded via navifirm and paste it in c:\\programdata\nokiapackages\Products
and rename it to your RM
In my case it looked like this when finished c:\\programdata\nokiapackages\Products\RM-823
9. now run nokia care suite AS ADMINISTRATOR and choose Product support tool for for store
10. connect your phone
11. chose programming and refurbish
12. if you`ve done everything right it should give you the code for the old version and the new version
13. press start and just wait til it`s done flashing should take about 5-10 minutes til it`s done
this worked just fine for me, no problems so far and everythings running great in 7.8
i
Windows phone 7.8 Argentina Personal
I tried it yesterday and it works perfectly.
In case, here a link with a slightly more detailed tutorial::fingers-crossed:

Not yet, you have to wait for RM-808 from AT&T
For Lumia 900 AT&T owner..the reason why u can't just used the variant that we all can used is bcoz ur Lumia is different from any of us..remember that AT&T Lumia have an LTE connection which mean different driver, software, etc. So you guys have to wait whether AT&T itself or Nokia to make ur variants, as i can see, theres no other way
Gotcha, thanks. Well here's hoping that the AT&T version of 7.8 is released soon.

hye there, 1. u dont have to care much about the product code, theres no big different between variant, only carrier logo, app..basically all variant just the same, my phone is Singapore set, a small country, yet i am flashing Finland variant and everything works just fine as of now.
2. As for sim lock/unlocked, as far as i know, only AT&T Lumia is sim lock and can be unlcoked already by calling AT&T if not mistaken, and no, i dont think u will be sim lock after updating, an unlocked set will stay as unlocked just my 2 cent.
Note: i've already flash 3 different variant on my Lumia 900, Sweden, India and lastly Finland, no sim lock or whatsoever, all 3 variant, my sim card just working fine, can sms, call, online and all. The diffrent is logo when u startup your phone, and language on first install (Ex: if u choose sweden variant, on first start there will be sweden language, but u can change it on next screen. be careful not to bricked your Lumia while flashing xD

So is there a way to flash the Mexican RM808 version of 7.8 on to my AT&T Lumia 900, while we are waiting for the AT&T version?

i dont think you can flash anything to AT&T Lumia yet, the bootloader prevent you to do that.

Navifirm: how to use it to upgrade to 7.8

how to use navifirm, i need to upgrade my phone to 7.8
I am using Nokia lumia 900(ATT version) phone is unlocked.
As has been posted here 900 times. You can not yet flash 7.8 to an at&t Lumia. Once the specific at&t version is uploaded to the care suite server, you can then flash it. But, at this point with the access to care suite firmware servers ending in 23 days I wouldn't expect them to be posting any new files to it until access is locked down.

I don't have my phone handy, or a PC to check navifirm. But that sounds about right. You can ONLY flash at&t firmware on an at&t Lumia. Can't do a product code switch trick or anything to flash on EU, Rogers or Mexico Telcel firmware.

[Q] How to find on what network my Lumia 900 is locked

Hi everyone
I just got a Lumia 900 from a friend of mine,he got it from another country (not new),so it seems that it's network locked (it's asking the unlock code) .The phone doesn't have any kind of branding on it or on the software (booting image, applications, etc) .
How to find on what network the phone is locked ?
Thank you !!
Get the code from the sim-tray, it will be similar to (05P6K7) etc you can then look on navifirm for a matching firmware which will normally give a clue to the network, Also on bottom of device should say either rm808 or rm823 which you will need when searching navifirm.
Or post the code on here and one of us will look it up for you
In Naviform showed that is from AT&T and in Nokia Care Suite said that it's from Rogers.I went ahead with Rogers it worked
Thanks !
Well done
