How long will it be before multi window is implemented into ROMs for our device?
I can try porting a 4.1 ROM from the i9100 with multi-window for you. It has to be a TouchWiz-based ROM though

Ugh.. does ANYONE not realize how low of a resolution this phone actually has?? I don't even use pop up video because it takes up so much real estate, I found myself constantly moving the video around just to actually get anything done. IMO, not worth the trouble on this handset.

You're kinda right there, but it is a nice feature to still have lol, to show them off to your S3 friends who have stock and complain about battery life (How is that even possible..).

video can be resized. Plus resolution doesn't matter if you're using MHL on a screen.
I've been trying to get multi Window working... Also with pop up player it pops up over any page, app.. etc. Multi Window modifies ur screen to be able to view 2 different apps on the same screen.

It would be interesting because it has to most likely do with adjusting settings in the system framework to accommodate multiple windows and helping apps use one or the other, and how the system should etc etc its not just some easy app install type deal.
If it helps not MX Player but the other really popular Vid player [I will have to look] already sorta does this, in that it is usually set by default [and/or turned on/off in settings] where when you hit the back key while watching a movie in it it will actually drop to the home screen with a smaller Pictur in Picture looking window that continues to play the video while you do whatever you want and you can move the window around with your fingers and re-size it as needed so if it covers something in an app you open you can still move it around and see everything and all.
If I can remember which Cideo Player I had on my Nexus 7 that did the small stay on top window when I hit back I will post the name for you.
Yes I would love to

Multiwindow is implemented in some ROMs, it just isn't working. I know ptmr3 is working on it along with many others. It should be working within the next month or two if I were to guess.

Try changing your dpi on build.prop to something like190 or so. That is my personal fav. It will free up a lot of real estate for you. If you are on a tw room though, you may want to look into xposed app settings. (Changing dpi screws up all the touchwiz stuff otherwise.)
Cheers!

Its not really that cool. I played with it on my wife's note 2 and while neet and giving to opportunity for some seamless multitasking.... Even on her giant high resolution screen its almost to small for multiple apps.. Also you'll use it twice of that because its a novelty..

even though i totally disagree i understand where your coming from but wouldn't that be up to the user to decide. not every phone, rom, theme and mod are for everybody but some of us would probably use it daily without minding how small the display happens to be. no disrespect to you or your opinion.

I'ts nice 99% of the time that we get 100% full screen when using the browser. But my not. bar has the time, icons for if my gps came on, if I have a message, etc.
It would be cool if some sliver of the not. bar were there and we could pull it down to view while in the browser. I only use the stock browser and this might be an option in other browsers, but I think it would be nice as an option any way.

Back on track, I would like a little lightsaber to cut wedges of cheese to put on crackers. I imagine it being a little melted even.
In reality, to me the phone is pretty much just what I want. Especially now that there's so many developers working on different roms. Maybe more AOSP roms since the only two are CM and Miui.

I too would like to see more AOSP roms. CM is one thing, but it is more stock AOSP which is cool but not what I want. MIUI on the other hand is something COMPLETELY different than anything else out there and that's what I would be interested in. Not something like MIUI, but something built off AOSP source that was completely different and original.
MIUI is amazing.
Lol that would be kinda dangerous and I want to try making a asop rom next but I'm still learning I'm going to release my first rom tonight just to see what people ask to change so I can attempt to fulfill there request and learn at the same time

That would be sick, I'm all for something like this. Maybe include some memorable quotes from Nicolai, Takeo, Dempsey and Richtoffen. Only issue I can see is finding enough images, although those could possibly be ripped from one of the Xbox dashboard themes. Also, have different apps of the phone represent the different maps, there are like 8 or 9 of them now so that would add some differentiallity (not sure if that's a word lol)

there's an app for that... go to the play store and search for an app called perfect keyboard. don't remember if it costs anything but not only can you choose the 123 board as an option, you can also theme the keyboard and resize it to match your current theme. try it out!
Hey auto thanks for the reply but the screenshot that I posted foes the same thing. But I actually was trying to stay away from using a third party keyboard. Wanted yo mow if a dev could implement the number pad within the stock ics keyboard. But thanks for the suggestion though. I will try our perfect if all else fails. Exactly what I was thinking....thank you!
For the longest time most Android camera apps are incapable of auto adjusting exposure to suit the touch-focus area, a feature that's found in HTC Sense camera and iOS camera. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just realized that this feature has finally been added to Jelly Beam on GNexus!! For this feature alone I'll stick with Jelly Bean instead of AOKP ICS.
Just wanted to share this as I thought some might find it useful.
Cheers.
--
Edit: I'm really surprised by how many people have absolutely no idea what touch-exposure is. The keywords are highlighted in red above. If you still have no idea what it does, borrow an iPhone from your friend, try touch-focus a few different areas with different brightness levels within the same view, you'll know what I'm talking about. Sadly most people don't even know what they are missing out....
This is awesome if true!

I think it's automatic... uh "touch-auto-exposure" is in the name. Wherever you touch on the screen automatically applies the correct exposure.

I'm always baffled why Google didn't implement this earlier. iOS and HTC Sense have had it for a while.
And guess what, even Galaxy S3 still does NOT have this feature..
better known as touch to focus :silly:
I'm confused. What exactly are we talking about? Does touch-to-focus do something it didn't do before? And autofocus doesn't do it?
I think Touch to Focus was absent in AOSP until JB. I used it today without realizing it is a new feature, works exactly as it should.
I was just lurking around looking for this feature on our Notes. Would love to have one on our note II and since the original Note had a mod developed enabling this feature, reckon it shouldn't be hard.
So anyone?

An alternative to the link you showed for the N7000. But nevermind i just checked the developers comment and he mentioned that although the app works in the n7100, the cascaded windows is only supported on tablet ui. So its safe to assume that for the time being the only way, at the moment, to get this working is to change your UI to tablet. But if there is a better alternative i would like to know too.
