Windows Phone Update Feb 21st

That's the pre "NoDo" update, read on:

Just saw it on facebook....now to wait...I wonder when I'll get my update message

Just got my update message on my DVPs none of my other US devices have received it yet...

Who wants to bet that this Update to the updating software will deliver a big fat nuke to our HD2s ?
Na, im sure it will be fine but i will be watching very carfully, because at the moment it all seems far to good to be true! happy days, im not exactly sure i know what i want fixed yet anyway as everything is fine, perhaps those random Market errors we sometimes get, but it would seem that, we'll need to wait a wee bit longer

I have the ability to update my phone and I know the site stated that this one will "...improve the software update process itself" Im not going to update until I know what exactly this update has in store besides what the site said it was for. Could this update even possibly fix the hole that allows chevron to work or will that be fixed in the in the March update?

it would be real nice if someone will wireshark the update so that we can see how day to it and maybe use it to unlock.

Probably to close the chevron security hole no new updates after this and everybody is screwed. Or a lot of greatness to come quicly after this one

I am not interested in what will happen when you install it , I want to have that update (the file , cappkg or something like that)
ps , it will not work on a hd2 because there are missing parts of the rom needed by the update.

Well, I just read this is just a small update to prepare the update process itself ...
So it gives Microsoft some experience on updating their devices
AND
It will also give our chefs some experiences to make their own ROM updatable LOL

i cant update . it gives me back this error: not enought space on disk C. Now i try to delete something on it. but its weird, i have more than 3 gb free on it .
Maybe its cause i put on my hd7 the leacked rom??

no i have the leaked rom too before & i do not have a problem
it do the error because zune will do a full backup of your phone so it may more than space available on your hard disk

Nope. Still says my 7003 version is up to date.

I have an unbranded Omnia 7 and i didnt receive any notification and zune tells me that there is not any update to my phone!!!

I have the leaked rom on my HTC HD7 and the update appeared. Installing at present. Just wondering if anyone on o2 UK has it yet if I was to revert back to the O2 UK rom to then update?

Mango Friends and Family Bundle: Pre-Cleanup (Leaked 7720 already has update needed)

So.. as I'm sure everyone has read, there is an update that will "clean up" the beta provisioning and allow users to update with Microsoft's official servers. It's starting to roll out to the internal Microsoft crew that were apart of the Mango Friends and Family promotion (this is confirmed) and they are running 7720.68. They went through a different update process to 7720.68 than we did so there is something extra that those who are in that group have that we don't. With that said, Mango RTM is supposedly going official 9/27 for a lot of carriers. We need to keep a close contact together to see if all xda-upgraded 7720.68 users will be able to receive those updates that everyone else gets without having to do the unthinkable and downgrade to NoDo. Use this thread to post any findings and such.

From what I hear, all the update does is point the phone back to the production Windows Update Server... if there's a way we can find where to change this (that's given that it's a registry stored entry and not a group of flat db files)

The only thing I hope is in Zune, it shows my 7720 phone as version 7.1, so maybe it will take "7.5" as a upgrade...
The word is my carrer releases it tomorrow, so I gues I will find out tomorrow, if it's true...

so you really need somebody that just went through the pre-cleanup process and post their reg entries.
Probably a good idea to contact hardcoreplur before he upgrades to the final.

Have this on my Focus as well.

I have installed Windows 8 on my Notebook, this is why I have a fresh installation of Zune, does this mean I don't need the cleanup update, because Zune points to the default update server anyhow?
Has something been manipulated on the device as well?
I'm on Mango RTM btw.

First: you are on RTM so you are not receiving the cleanup update, most probably you will have to revert back to nodo or flash your phone back to his original firmware before getting official mango.
Second: never ever use a beta OS to perform a phone update, it's a damn firmware flash, it's not toy!

You are probably right regarding Win8, I'll use m GF's PC.

wait, in the post he didn't specified it was the cleanup update, it is possible it is just a firmware update from LG to update drivers for Mango

He thinks it's a cleanup update though.
Anyhow, it would be enough for most users if OEMs would just update the drivers, because the missing compass driver is my main concern with Mango RTM.

I guess that everybody will receive firmware update, since it's a completely different and independent thing from the OS

This update is not showing for me? I am running Mango myself I am currently on the official Microsoft RTM version 7720. I am not on the official HTC 7720
Do you think I will get the update or have to play with zune or phone registry to do so?

I'm prepared to roll back to NoDo. What I will do is if I see some confirmed updates today, I'll go to NoDo and try to use fiddler or something to capture the binaries.

Hi All,
This may be relevant (or not), but I've been running the leaked RTM 7720 on my HTC Mozart.
I was having a couple of little niggles, so I thought I'd reset the phone (which I haven't done since I originally got it on 7004).
Just for interest sake I've done all upgrades from original up to the Mango beta 7712 as someone I know has a developer account, before applying the 7720 RTM.
Not long after I rebooted my phone and connected to Zune I got a popup saying there was a HTC firmware upgrade available. I heard this was available but had never been offered this update previously.
Again, not sure if this means anything or if resetting the phone 'resets' the update server location but I thought I'd put it out there.

Just successfully updated my old O2 HTC HD7 to 7.8 using seveneighter, All credit to windows phone hacker.
Zune disconnect trick did not work at all so this method works, You must take note of the Language packs you already have installed and select the same ones during Installation or it wont work, To check Languages go to settings/keyboard and write them all down, It installed three updates ending up with 8858(7.8) Have fun :fingers-crossed:

What version of firmware did you end up with?
I only got two updates and im still on the 2175.2301.8779.12224 firmware....

But the Nokia Support page shows that the latest OS is 7.10.8862.144
sorry could not post the link of nokia support page as the forum is not allowing me to.
Anyone has any idea how to download it. I tried with Zune, it says it is updated.

Using 7.8'r, I ended up with OS 7.10.8862.144 and firmware 2157.2307.8858.12480.
This is on an ATT Luminaries 900. Selected original two languages, English and Spanish. Process took less than 5 minutes and left apps, settings and media all intact.

Beware of flashing 8862.144:
Flashed 8860 then 8862 via 7.8r yesterday. All was fine and Nokia content in store all there.
The usual Nokia apps "Tango, App Highlights, ESPN" were all installed along with the rest of the AT&T refuse.
After performing a hard reset today, these items were all still present, but visiting the maketplace discovered Nokia content no longer shows up. Normally "Nokia Collecton" appears at top of marketplace.
A work-around: run the "App Highlights" app... it didn't succeed in connecting, but I found it did restore Nokia Collection back to the marketplace app.

Hi i`ve just recently bought a Nokia Lumia 1020 from china..
And joined windows 10 insider fast ring, i`ve had no problems upadating this phone from windows 8.1 to the latest
offering from microsoft, but for the life of me i cannot downgrade back to win 8.1
I`ve read all the tutorials i`ve done numerous soft & hard resets tryed different usb cables tryed different ports unistalled and reinstalled
WRT..
Now here is the thing that i don`t get,
When i connect my phone to my PC running win 7 WRT recognises my phone and then proceeds to tell me that there isn't
anything available on the server..
So i have held the volume button down & power pressed in, and restarted WRT to find my phone which it does and then proceeds to download a new rom.
But the new rom is for a different phone.. this is the rom downloaded by WRT
RM877 3051 50009 1451 1 RETAIL nam att 205 01 473928 prd signed.ffu
My installed rom is RM-875-apac_hong_kong_223

first of all : why downgrade? have problem with w10?

yes of course 1020 has great camera
but im not sure every people with 1020 who upgrade to W10M have this problem...

lumia denim is an old firmware update on windows phone 8.1 i think...
but i dont know if u need it if u are on w10m...
and for your downgrade...i dont know why u have problem...
maybe try to post on Windows phone 8 section...
