It's in stock now in Canada. It's way too tempting to pass up. What do you guys think? My Arc is running CM10 OC to 1.6GHz and it does it's job just fine. I can sell it on Craigslist for $180, so money isn't an issue. I've been saving up for the Nexus for a long time but I'm not too sure if I should make the switch. All I'm really paying for is a good CPU + 2GB of ram - expandable storage. Storage isn't much of an issue for me, especially since the only files I've ever stored on my phone is music.
If I get the Nexus 4, I'll also end up buying my friend's i9000 for $20 (it's really cheap since he cracked the screen), so that I can play around with ROMs on it while my brand spanking new Nexus 4 will be my daily driver.
What do you guys think?
I also forgot to mention that I'm not on a contract, nor will I ever be. :highfive:

A quad-core phone with 2 gb Ram, which is receiving quickly newest updates, against a 1,0/1.4 GHz single-core "klumpat", as we are saying in german, with only 512 mb ram and no updates receiving anymore? Go and change it as long as you can, don't ask and just buy it, before it's out of stock!

Even if you don't like it, you can sell it for about the same price since it's out of stock in no time again.
this is off topic and doesnt belong here
still i would recommend you to go for nexus 4
its one of top 5 smartphones
it will get all android versions first
and yes arc is too old now
Go for it :good:
I jumped the gun and ordered it a couple minutes ago.
But do I really need it? CM10's pretty darn snappy on my phone. I have roughly 17 minutes to cancel my order. What should I do?
Damn my indecisiveness!
There's only 7 minutes left. Should I cancel my order?
Ah screw it I'll probably end up getting a new phone anyway. It's either a Nexus 4, or my sister's S3 in a year and a half.
Screw it! I can't cancel it anymore anyway. What was I thinking? I've saved up for the N4 for a couple months now. Buyer's remorse my arse!

The New Nexus will probably come at around Christmas time or slightly earlier if I had to guess. Not sure about specs, but probably similar to the S3's specs.

Yea I mean no doubt that the S3 has better resale value... I'm just starting to miss the software side of the Nexus and all of the customization it has (and I love the virtual buttons and design of the phone). No doubt though, the S3 blows the Nexus away in terms of benchmarks and gaming

Yeah I know what you mean though. I used to have a galaxy nexus. Love the ROMs and the updates. I actually wanted the one x but I got this since I plan to get whatever new device is released this winter so I opted for resale value over what I really wanted. Don't get me wrong, the s3 is probably the best phone out, I just wanted to try the new htc sense.

if you are eligible for an upgrade right, i would suggest to not use it, and either pick up a used Nexus or the one straight from Google's Play store. this way, you can save your upgrade for when the new Nexus comes out, but still have a good phone for right now.
upgrade to the "new" iphone then trade it for both the Note 2 and GS3. :silly:

UNI as in University of Northern Iowa?
I love my Nexus, you won't be disappointed if you get one. I owned an iPhone for a year and half and will never go back. I prefer the open garden approach and Android is leaps and bounds ahead of iOS IMO. You will still have issues with battery life but that is pretty much going to be the case with any smart phone with such a big screen and LTE.
Nooo I'm going to a university in England so ill have no use for 4G and stuff the main thing I like about the iPhone is the retina display its so clear that and the fact it's really fast, also I won't be buying it on contract ill probably pay about £300 and get one of them on pay as you go.

I'm about to upgrade from my Droid 2 Global also, and is thinking about the galaxy nexus or the new droid razr m, from the reviews on the razr m battery life seems pretty good, you might want to consider that.
The defferences I see between the galaxy nexus and the razr
Nexus 4.65 inch screen Razr M 4.3M
Nexus Processor 1.2 MHZ Razr 1.5 MHZ
Nexus no expandable memory option Razr M has a micro sd slot takes up to 32 G
They both have NFC
Nexus camera is 5 mega pixel Razr M 8 , but review says both have mediocre picture taken.
Nexus verizion i think have jelly bean now (not sure) Razr M Motorola promises jelly bean before the end of the year.
Compare them they are both $99 bucks on Verizon website.
$99 for a galaxy nexus ? I refuse to believe this.
Nvm you have to buy a contract that's a rip off.

I know BestBuy was selling the Verizon Nexus for free with new/renewed contract for a while there. Looking at their website now though, it looks like it is back to $99. If you could get the Nexus for free, I think that would be the way to go vs the Razr M.
I wouldn't have a clue about American deals or providers as I live in the UK, although I have been contemplating upgrading my nexus s to the galaxy nexus however it's put me off as I've heard a lot of reports of it being laggy and the camera is crappy so you don't really want to be paying £300+ for a phone with sub par features. And the only thing putting me off about the iPhone 4 is the glass back, you drop that ****er once and its gone and I've dropped my nexus s so many times it's unbelievable but it's sponged it so I don't know what to do really..

I found the retina display underwhelming until I finally saw a 3gs and realized how big of a jump it was for iPhone users. Most of the higher end android phones were already using high density displays so the advantage was minimalized.
As for the Nexus, its plenty fast (especially with JB) and the screen is quite high def as well (people talk about the screen tech but I cant see it, pixel density is too high).
And the features are night and day. Apple gives you a basic platform and lets you buy into advanced features. Android, from the beginning really packed those features in. Voice actions, maps and navigation, notification system have all been there for years and are quite mature.

Definitely get the Galaxy Nexus per all of the above comments, not to mention the huge developer community backing it. If in 3 months you don't like something about the phone, change it. The battery life isn't that bad considering what all you do with the phone anyway. I can go all day with a mid day battery boost of about 20% and JB is pretty snappy as well.

They could be coming out soon with a new wave of nexus devices. I might go for the Sony xperia nexus if/when it comes out. Tho, it probably won't be cheap. And my parents offered to put me on their family plan with verizon since they booted my ex-brother-in-law. So who knows. Good luck, man!
Galaxy nexus FTW!!!!
XenonHd-GNex
Compare the Operating Systems. Nowadays I think it's not mainly a hardware question, but price and software. Look at both of them and decide which work flow / features cater more to your need. Personally, I would go for the Galaxy Nexus with Android. My workflow with android is much more fluid than with iOS.
And if you aren't frightened of flashing your phone to get new features, more power etc, then Android is a natural choice.
PS: And on another note, I wouldn't support a company behaving like Apple right now.
Come on....don't buy an iPhone

Top reasons to buy:
It's a Nexus
Great price
Snappy perfomance
Reasons not:

Sound quality is garbage
Speaker is quiet

I can't wait, since this will be my first smart phone. Although I have had Android tablets for a couple of years and I have a Nexus 7 16GB (which I love) I have always had a simple phone (w/camera)
Since I enjoy the NEXUS experience, I wanted my first smart phone to be a Nexus.
I am new to this forum (but not to the XDA Forums) and I look forward to posting/commenting here too.

GNex is a great choice... $50 vs $200 for practically the same thing. A slightly bigger screen, 2GB of RAM (which is totally unnecessary), Dual-Core (since it's from Verizon)... To me, GNex is the best deal on the market (or so it was, until the Nexus 4 came out - but lets not talk about that).
@OP
You made a fantastic choice. I love my GNex, like I said before. Trust me, your going to love it and have loads of fun toying around with it. First thing I did was Unlock the bootloader and start flashing. xD Not to mention your guaranteed future updates since it's a "Nexus" device.
Enjoy your work of art.
I've had for almost two years, finally dropped it on tile floor. Yep, the screen cracked big time. It's a VZW phone, have had zero problems with it. Unlocked, rooted, my favorite ROM. The screen still worked, so had some time to explore options. Called around, going price to replace the screen was around $140. Didn't want to get new phone via new contract as I want to keep unlimited data. Started looking at other phones on ebay. Wife has a droid razr which I like, but don't like the non-replaceable battery, plus resale cost on droid razr is more like $200. As it turns out, GN on ebay is going for just a bit over $100. Took a chance, got a GN in near perfect condition for just over $100. Score, got another GN and my old GN is sitting the drawer as a backup. I know the GN is old and a bit tired, but I really like the phone.

My GNex is bought days ago with screen cracked (at ~$60 it's still a nice deal), but here in China we have magical repair stations that replaces only the screen glass (they can do this for most Samsung phones) and costs merely ~$25. I will opt for this solution as soon as I have enough money. Too bad I've never heard of this available out of China.

BECAUSE I'M CRAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZY!!! (Think Crazy Dave)
To be honest, I bought relatively legacy devices at real cheap prices not for calling/internet, but for flashing pleasures and special perks, usually determining the devices' uses: e.g. I get outstanding performance (at the purchase time) and QWERTY with an Epic 4G, so it had served as my main gaming device back then; and I get 16:9 screen with onscreen nav keys (a big must!) with a GNex, so I can play PPSSPP without black borders.

My signature lists all phones I currently own. Unlisted are either sold (G1, Milestone, etc.), exchanged (N9, Xiaomi MI-1S) or too obsolete (N900).
Galaxy S is also one of my favourites, I just don't think it's worthy of paying ~$80 for it today (the price here in China), especially when I can have a far superior and valuable GNex at an even lower price!

Well really. I want to collect the whole Galaxy S line of phones. But the S is my favourite. Just really good to see that it is still supported and what not! I may ask this friend... don't want to pay to much for it... <$50 or less.. I'll see what he says... what phones have you got?

Haha I have an original galaxy s captivate sitting in my nightstand drawer. I wouldn't even pay 50 bucks these days for it. Soo underpowered.

It still can fly, you just haven't taken the time to prepare it for takeoff And I want a Captivate too.

Actually, I did. I decided for a couple of reasons not to use. One, there is the $100 deductible. Two, when I found them on ebay for roughly the same price, thought I take a chance and be able to keep the broken phone (which still works). Now I have a backup that I can also try out different ROM's before committing to my DD. I have since cancelled the insurance..
You could purchase a BAD ESN phone off eBay for less than $100 and switch out the parts. Its looks pretty hard to replace the actual glass, but the device looks relatively easy to take apart. Like a micro computer.

I looked at that option as well, watched a couple of youtube videos of it being done. Was not for me, I'm not that good at working with small parts. With my luck, I'd end up breaking the screen trying to replace it.
who are going to update to nexus 5 and why??
I have ordered one though
I'm going to get a Nexus 5 because the 1GB RAM isn't enough for what I'm doing with my phone. With multiple Tasker things, PIE control, Halo, Chrome, lots of constant music listening, Nova Launcher themeing, things keep getting killed, lagging my phone, and at times even rebooting. 4.3 helped, but the hardware limitation is still there. That, and my display is wearing out. I can see lines in many places. I won't dump my Galaxy Nexus, though. It'll become a test device to test the apps I'm developing.
Now all I'm waiting for is someone to let me buy one... Come on either Google, Amazon, or Best Buy!
i have bought nexus 5 because i was waiting for it for a couple of month and and my galaxy nexus is no where good in taking normal daily pictures so OIS + nexus that made me to fall in love with nexus 5
I'm buying because I chose last October to not to buy any phones until the next nexus generation phone came out. So I've been waiting too darn long for this phone to drop. But Google decided to be a pest this year with all the ****ery they decided to do to promote this phone. It's like having blue balls and although there's a chick laying there naked knowing you want it but just won't let you have it yet instead she flaunts the p***y in your face to show you how good you can expect it to be. :'( Google stop teasing just let me get in it already lol.

I've been planning on leaving Verizon for the next nexus. Honestly though, I'm not terribly impressed with the Nexus 5, so I may go Moto X. Whichever has a better camera and battery life.

yeah every time I got a p***y in my face, I gagged. But yes I got my N5 on order! 4.2 was what convinced me that I need to upgrade my 9250 to a faster Nexus.
Not sure if my next phone will be a nexus or.. and Android :|

Because my gnex is getting old
I would get it only if I read that the battery of nexus 5 last for one day with heavy use.

I've been holding off on the phone purchase but now is the time. Black Nexus 5, 32G on it's way. I couldn't beat the off-contract price.
I'm done with VZN, probably going with $30 T-mobile monthly prepaid.
You realize the nexus 5 is just an inferior cheaper knock off of the lg g2 with a crappy camera an battery.

I got slimkat 4.4 on my gnex does that mean my gnex is better than the g2, the g2 has 13mp camera compared yo nexus 5 that has 8mp, the battery is 3000mah on g2 an 2300mah on n5 plus g2 has a slightly bigger screen.Throw a kitkat rom on g2 an you got a better phone than n5 if your theory is correct.
