Where is the sound file located for the S Pen Keeper?
I want to replace it with the most annoying and loud sound I can find.

/system/media/audio/ui/pen_det_alert.ogg, and pen_det_beep1.ogg. Both files seem to be the same sound.

The only thing I've missed from my iphone days. Here it is if you want it.
So this is the notification sound?
Could you give brief instructions? Do we just flash it in recovery?

Yep, it's sms notification sound. Just down load and unzip. It's an MP3 file. Put it in your notification folder. On your text app, point to Glass. That's it.

Hi guys,
Might be a silly questions - but I can't find the option to shut the camera up, for it not to make that annoying shutter sound. Do you have any idea how to disable it?
Thanks.

Here is a hack http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1385626&d=1349716392. It increases the loudness a bit and disables camera sounds

if you are rooted go to /system/media/audio/ui and delete or rename the according files!
no files, no sound!

Yes. This isn't a flashable zip by the way. It contains a file that you replace the original with... The file is default_gain.conf (found in system/etc)
Backup the original first.
Or do what TML1504 suggested. That's what I usually do.
Not possible on a none-rooted device?
When the phone is in vibrate or silent mode, there is no camera sound

No camera sound? Where?
Mute the phone. The camera sounds get muted too.

There's no option to turn the shutter sound off like the Note?
Out of curiousity, I just tried muting the phone but camera shutter noise still exist. Any reasons why? different models?

Mine does it right. When I mute the phone, camera goes mute as well

Or, to make it the cleanest possible:
Under /system/csc, there is a feature.xml file.
Edit it, and under the <!-- Camera --> section, add the following line:
Code:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
And you will have an option in the Camera settings to disable the shutter sound.

Same here, awesome!
Unbelievable! My hubby's 6 year old feature phone has a camera that you can't turn off the stupid sound.
I am stunned that on the Note 2, you must first mute your phone, then open the camera app, then hope your subject is still standing there waiting for the shot. Or I have the option of rooting my phone.
I don't know why, but this just pisses me off! :silly:
HAVE TO BE ROOTED. IF the power on sound is annoying to you as to me I changed it off...I will provide a screenshot I used root explorer to rename the file and put a "y" at the end of the file....and the touch sound is little annoying hearing raindrops everywhere so i did the same method. .....
TO change these as something you wish copy a sound over change permissions and rename to what it once was...ONCE YOUR DONE REBOOT;;;
SCREENSHOT shows where files are located for your convenience. ...hope this helps

You don't have to change the touch sound, as there is already an option in settings to disable it.

Why is it when someone post useful info that people can use someone comes and tells people not to do what was told or shown. I bet later somewhere we are gonna see you ask about sounds files and wish gave you insight on how to change sound files and where they are . Just learn and stop always commenting against what contributors say.
works like a charm thanks!

I'm not sure how you got that from my post. I was replying in regards to "the touch sound is little annoying hearing raindrops everywhere so i did the same method." I assumed that he didn't realize that the option to turn it off was there. What was wrong with saying that this step is not necessary? I was not being confrontational.

I was poking around in my res folders, but realized I don't have a lockscreen button. Maybe somebody will come up with an alternative to the waves thingy.

How would I go about changing the animation? I don't like it. Especially att's. I tried running the boot animation program that comes up on google play. It says I need busy box. I downloaded that, but not sure what to do.

Am gathered some yesterday. .I have college late..ill try to post some..ill make another thread
At night time I often have the phone under my pillow so I can listen to music quietly, instead of leaving it on the nightstand.
I figured using the volume keys might be a sensible approach, but then realized that would just change the volume.
I was wondering if anyone has figured a way (either through an app or Tasker) to change tracks without turning the screen on and touching the phone?
I think the Nottach mod has a feature to change tracks by holding the volume buttons.

I was hoping for an app (or Tasker profile) instead of changing my ROM as right now, I am quite happy with rooted stock.

do we have anything on the camera shutter sound front? Id really love to silence it for good because not only is it abnoxious, but its also loud! preferably something simple for us who have the phones intact with all the bloatware and not rooted? plain old official out of the box stuff.

Without root ... i don`t think so
U must modify /system/CSC/others.xml and add
Code:
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
with root it's possible by using wanam exposed.

Because in some countries it is forbidden to make "silent photo" or "spy photo" that is why they disable that menu

Sorry for asking, but just to be sure: Have you run the ESS app and checked the 'Disable STREAM_SYSTEM_ENFORCED' checkbox?
It was definitely working on my S4 mini with stock firmware (at that time).
