[Q] Camera and 3g not working in Suprimo - HTC One V

I have a CDMA one v and everything worked fine. Recently i was running Suprimo v23, using the cdma converter v15 and jmz kernel. I went to 4.2.1, and then i went back to suprimo, this time v30. I did the same stuff, same kernel, same converter and for some reason, my camera and 3g weren't working. I wiped, reflashed and same problem. Then i went to try myonev rom for gsm. I flashed rom, then converter, then kernel, the fastboot and same issue. I reverted back to suprimo v23 and my camera and 3g still don't work which i honsetly cannot figure out. I wiped, reflash and same result. When i start the camera, it closes after 5 seconds and im stuck on EVDO for some reason. Please helpp!! :crying::crying:

Reflash the Rom and test camera again. EVDO is 3G. So no worries there.
If camera Force closes, ill PM you a converted Rom in ny Dev host.

Lol well then that explains how my internet was unusually fast
And i moved on to pacman 4.1.2, i just wish i knew what i did wrong because camera problems don't usually happen and also my mms worked so i don't know what went wrong with the camera. Interesting enough, when i tried the android 4.2 camera on pacman, it gives me force closes but the default camera actually works. I don't know my cameras doing some crazy stuff

Flash it properly... Wife data,cache...

I was having issues with v30 with the converter as well... not sure why, but camera didn't work for me either... but some people didn't have that problem so it could have been the converter because apparently there are different ones throughout the thread posted by salvy? but I gave up on it

yea i also heard that people were having problems with it as well but for even when i did go back to v23, camera still didn't work. And i keep hearing about salvys converter which i think is v15, but thats the one i used and it didnt work.
Im going to go off topic here but i wanted to ask you guys if you've tried the pacman rom. It works great and the camera works, but for some reason, when i tried to install the android 4.2 camera it didn't work. I used many different zips from xda and none of them worked. I flashed, changed name in file explorer, set permissions and everything and its wierd since the 4.2 camera worked on the other 4.2.1 roms i used so maybe its just a pacman thing?

Yeah I tried with v15 too and the one in the OP which I think is the same? idk but I just gave up lol
I do like the pacman rom alot it's got a wonderful browser, I love that thing! and I'm not sure about the 4.2 camera... messed with it once, but it wasn't as smooth to me as the one that came with the rom. Also, i think you mean other 4.1 roms because the camera doesn't work in 4.2 roms, which are very new to us. I just stick to the camera that comes with the rom... I believe BlackJelly comes with 4.2 camera though because it looks different from the other jellybean roms I've tried... I'm on it now

Ok so i went back to suprimo v23 and everything seems to work fine now i must have used the wrong converter. I wiped and flashed jmz's kernel and redownloaded the converter. If you want you can download it from my dropbox :highfive:

Cameras

I have a question. Does anyone know if you're able to run the stock camera from the Incredible 2 rom on CM7? If so, can someone running rooted stock Incredible 2 upload the APK? If not, can someone suggest a better camera than the CM7 camera?
Thanks

You cannot. The framework is different from an AOSP Rom vs a Sense Rom. Many people hate it because that vanilla camera In CM7 is ugly lol
Sent from my Rinky Dinky DInc2
I was afraid it was a sense based camera. I guess the only other option is dealing with MIUI or this ****ty CM7 camera. It's fine except I'm one that hates random flashes of different colors come across my screen so when the green flashes, it bugs the living hell out of me lol.
How are you liking the Sensation 2.0 rom and the dirty chad kernel? Also, your 225 radio you have installed, does it work better than the 622 radio? I seem to get no reception on mine and I live close to a tower lol.
Yea, that camera IS the reason I do not use AOSP roms

I love it, the smoothest so far for me. And the kernel is one he posted for another ROM, it just happens to work fine for this one. Charges faster and has profiles you can change as far as governors and voltage modifications.
The radio I'm running is still the stock radio by the way. I haven't messed with that yet. Haven't ran into anything major. I live out in the boonies and get 1X so I don't really care, I gots WiFi
Lol I live out in the boonies too and I get 0 bars and intermittent 3g/1x, thankfully I have wifi too lol
I'm thinking of flashing the stock radio. What would be your input as far as that goes? Yay or nay? lol

The radios vary depending on where you are located. I'm going to try one of the GB radios when I get around to it lol. Its pretty much play around with em and see which one works best over a day or two (per radio)

MIUI camera isn't too bad and there's a flashable version of it floating around here somewhere (compatible with CM7). My question would be around photo quality. Would a picture taken with a stock phone look the same as a photo taken with the MIUI camera (in 8mp mode) if printed out? It seems the sense camera is optimized for our resolution, but is overall picture quality any worse with MIUI? or does it have to do with the hardware?

It's an APK file so that means it is either installable or if that's not the case, you place it in /system/app and set the permission correctly
Permissions: can be set with root explorer
Owner - read, write, execute
Group - read
Others - read
The APK one should have working FFC capabilities. I've tried it out before starting this thread and it works great and looks very similar to the stock camera, except for the fact that when you take a picture, the screen flashes green which I can't stand. It's annoying but it does take pictures of the same quality as the AOSP camera. The other issue with the camera is that when the camera shows whatever it does, it is stretched, yet when you take the picture, it fixes itself and takes a normal picture. Quirky, but still works.

I'm worried that if I try to flash the stock radio that I would brick the phone because the stock radio is for Froyo FW and CM7 is Gingerbread. lol

This is the Miui camera I use with CM 7.
Since I couldn't really see any need of wanting to use the stock camera, I renamed the apk to "camera" and replaced the stock camera app in the system folder, changed the permissions/ownership and good to go. (I did make a .bak of the stock CM 7 for a just in case moment)
I like the Miui camera app. I didn't have FFC with it though. I do though now using the latest Miui Rom though...

I assume your referring to camera's? If so, I prefer the Miui camera over the CM 7 camera.
As far as rom preference, I like both, but currently I'm using Miui.
When taking photos using the Miui camera on the Miui rom, the only thing that flashes green is just the viewfinder box. The actual screen just goes black.
I'd have to flash back to CM 7 to see if the camera flashes the screen green or not. I don't remember now if it did or didn't. I don't think it did, but I don't want to say that it didn't without checking...
I flashed MIUI earlier and it seemed nice, a little different than what I'm used to in CM7, but what I did notice that I absolutely dislike is that 1) I tried to restore back to CM7 and when going through the ROM manager, it said that my phone was essentially not rooted anymore (more specifically that superuser permissions wasn't giving ROM manager the permissions and I went into SU and checked and it was installed, updated, and was supposed to be giving permissions where it needed to be), and 2) Whenever you drag an icon off the screen to remove the icon, it only wants to uninstall the app. Other than that, it seems like a decent ROM.
Yup, the last couple of updates to Miui has had to have the permissions set on SU. Don't know what happened that it has to be that way. It didn't used to be that way.
I also don't care to much for the Miui Launcher, and it's unremovable apps (you can make folders though, and place the apps in there, but still not quite what I like). To Iphone for me... I use the Adw ex launcher (same that I use on CM 7)
Really, my version of Cm 7 and Miui are almost twins... Basically the only diff is in the menus and a few cosmetics.
CM 7 on the left, Miui on the right...
Holy ****! Finally someone else that has this same problem!

It's an ICS Rom, and an earlier one at that. Not sure when nit was last updated, but embedded videos were, or maybe still are an issues on ICS ROMs, if I remember correctly.
There's probably a fix by now, or a work-around.
Hopefully someone will pop in and hook you up

[Q] bad rom experience

So I have a new note 2, it was stalk when I got it and ran perfectly with no lag or any issues...only problem no update from my carrier for, 4.1.2
I tried out JediXX and it was OK but had bugs and would restart for no reason, camera was not working properly. Not as smooth as it was Google chrome errors (freezes) some apps don't work....battery life is terrible and a few other problems.
I than tried AOSK Android 4.2.1 and Root Box they were identical, same problems as in jedi and external 64gb card wont work....i bought that for extra space...i love music....music players does not work well...crashes....phone reboots...freezes..just problems.
Can anyone recommend me a rom that runs the same quality as when i bought my wind mobile note 2 (tmobile) i prefer stalk android 4.2.1 but run like it does on the galaxy nexus..any help would be appreciated.
Edit: when I am talking on speaker it echos for the other person...so speaker doesnt work.

Tweaked is a ROM. Its touchwiz based, with some very nice additions. Camera works fine, no reboots or fc's on anything. The dev really added some nice features and it's extremely stable.
Jedi also worked great for me as well. Never had issues with it either.

Sorry last question, I hate the Samsung keyboard is it possible to put the Android 4.2.1 keyboard on touchwiz?
I won't say it's better than any other ROM, too much respect for our devs, but I love this ROM.

He may have an option for the 4.2 keyboard, if not you could probably flash one. I prefer SwiftKey so I'm not sure. Definitely check this ROM out, it's very nice.
As far as the sd card, flash perseus kernel and you will be fine.

I will try that rom probably tonight,
Perseus kernel should be in original android development for tmobile. 4.2 keyboard, I've seen it around. Off the top of my head, I'm not sure. Search in the browser for 4.2 keyboard in the tmobile forums and it will pop up I'm sure.

I rooted my Note and first ROM was Jedi9 & now updated to JediXX.
It works perfect for me.
Never had any of the problems you were getting.
For the 64 card to work I formatted to FAT32 per instructions and it took less than 10 minutes. Working great.
The music players all work perfect, Stock Player, Power Amp, Snoosy, Winamp, no crashes at all.
My phone is over clocked to 1812 Mhz and no re boots ever for me.
The camera works amazing, no crashes at all on my phone on JedyXX.
Most important thing is my battery last much better than stock.
It is my opinion something is not right with your devise.
Try downloading the ROM again, also try moving all external card files to PC, then format your card.
Put everything back from PC to the card, delete all android files from the card.
Make sure you have the ROM zip file on the external card.
Go into recovery, wipe all data, cache, d. cache, do full wipe and then re-flash ROM.
Let Devise alone for 10 minutes after flashing and it should work like a charm after that.
If it does not, best thing to do is return your Note for a new swap to Tmobile.
:good:
If you're gonna try out a few different roms and since every o e else is throwing out there favorites. Definitly give frosty a run with xone kernel. Awesome battery and there is no lag phone is an absolute beast.

I doubt it is the device. More likely it is user error. It is not politically correct to say but many times people just do not know what they are doing and the best thing is to stick with stock and read a bit before flashing.

[Q] A jelly bean rom that actually works...

i've tried a number of roms in the past few days.. one didnt have camera support, another didnt have google voice search.. spent hours on customizing, resetting, flashing, re-flashing, re-re-flashing...
does anyone have a first-hand experience with a rom that supports ALL device hardware (intl Note II - GT-N7100).
thanks.
This Rom is good and all work perfectly: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1925402
i was hoping for 4.2.2..
sorry i didnt mention that.
Could you be more specific? Everything works fine on my device.. Camera support - you mean the touchwiz camera? You can't get that on aosp roms. Otherwise they should come with stock camera. Have you flashed the gapps package to get the google voice and other google apps?
switched roms...
i loved the previous one (slimroms.net) but after spending hours on it, i couldn't get the camera to work.
the current one i use (AOKP) works great, other then voice search in Google now.
i've installed the additional package that its supposedly requires but still no go. i can live without voice search (unlike camera) until KLP comes out.. now i just have to figure out why the ability to install APK's went away... it used to work on this rom but something happened. the "install" option is there but its unresponsive.

Omega stock based rom will tide you over until you know what you're flashing.
wrong attitude...
so, just because i dont spend my days and nights installing new roms, it means i dont know what i'm doing..?
i dont claim to be an expert, but it seems that battling with hardware issues is something that even long time power users are sometimes having problems with... at least i spent some time researching and experimenting with my device before coming here asking for help.

i dont claim to be an expert, but it seems that battling with hardware issues is something that even long time power users are sometimes having problems with... at least i spent some time researching and experimenting with my device before coming here asking for help.
talking down to people will not make you popular dude.

So why don`t you use stock rom with root? Or try Android Revolution HD, it is close to stock and fast as a bullet with great batterylife and all features are functional.
Depends dude. You got 2 ways to go at it, it's either cyanogen Rom s or stock based Rom. As far as I know the latest cm10.1 all have issues with the camera. So stick with stock based rooms, I would suggest using Alliance Rom 2.0 as I've been using there roms and haven't had any issues. The way I see it there are no bugs, only room for improvements.

[Q] Two different types of 4.2 Cameras??

So I tried out LiquidSmooth's ROM for the GN2. LIked it, but had some issues. The one feature I really really liked was the 4.2 Camera... it had some really nice (and a lot of) focusing features. Due to some issues and the wifi voip calling not working as I thought it would, I had to flash out and went to Tweaked 2.5 and really like it. I flashed the new 4.2 Camera, but it has almost NO functionality that the 4.2 camera with Liquid had...
So, are there two different 4.2 cameras? and where can I get the fully loaded one with all the nice options?

The one in the tweaked installer is the Google Edition one that people started posting a while back - not sure how that measures up to what gets put into custom aosp roms to be honest.

I did not use the Aroma installer... I did it exactly how the instructions and the video said to, but it was different on my phone -- I have CWM recovery and I installed the first zip, got the lil TWEAKED animation, then without anything else I flashed the ROM, asked for a few options but not the nice fancy screen, and that was that. Overall way easier than the video even made it sound... Can I get back INTO that to flash the camera or do I have to completely wipe and flash again?

DL the modificatinator - pretty much has all the options from the main install stuff but you can pick and choose which ones without reflashing everything.
