I am running NXT light with the Advanced Kernel.
I have had people let me know that the sound quality is poor except when I am on either Bluetooth or speaker phone.
What effect's the sound quality of a call, the Kernel or the ROM?
I thought it could be a hardware issues but people hear me with out issue via speaker phone.

When making a handsfree phonecall by tapping the speaker button on the dialer the sound quality is terrible bad at the end of the receiver. There is a lot of echo and the volume is very low.
However the sound at the speaker of the rhodium is cristal clear while making a handsfree call.
I'm running the phone with a custom rom at the moment, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.
Some people notice the same behaviour?
Hello,
i am using google voice recognition very often - I am loving it. The problem is that i need to talk very loud in order to get the voice recognized by the app.
Is there a way to increase the volume/sensitivity of the microphone?

If you ever tried to do a recording, you'd notice that the quality is awful.
Google Voice probaly has more issues getting a clear enough sound rather than a loud enough sound.
Our phone isn't exactly known for it's senses, poor camera, speaker and mic

Agreed about terrible audio quality in Froyo.
But wait till you hear the quality in Gingerbread for the DHD.. it's like a new phone.
I know that the microphone quality in general is not good.
But that's not my problem. If you use Google voice recognition you have a kind of signal strength meter (don't know the english word for it) that shows you the input level measured by the application.
My observation is that sometime I have to shout in order to get recognized and sometimes it's enough to speak with normal voice.
The question is: Is there a way to change the microphone level or sensitivity?

Ever since I flashed my phone to CM10, I noticed that my audio quality has been very poor. Any music that I play through my phone through Headset, Speaker, or Bluetooth sounds very "noisy" and unclean. For example, when I listen to Trance or House music, the beats don't have enough depth and the bass is not deep. The highs don't sound very high and the lows don't sound very low. I can hear this "buzz" sound when I am listening to music. I tried to play around with the DSPManager that was packaged with CM10 but those settings do not have any effect on the quality of my sound. The audio was working perfectly when I had it on stock, but as soon as I flashed to CM10, it has been annoying the hell out of me.
Furthermore, I found that I am unable to control the volume on my speakerphone during calls. I am not sure if this is a reported bug but this is definitely an issue for me. The volume is just way too loud and even though I have it turned all the way down, it is blasting my ears out.
Does anyone else have this issue? Are there any fixes?
Hello,
I do not use the phone feature very often, but recently I had to take some calls while driving and could hardly understand what the other person is saying, because the speaker phone volume is really low.
Now, of course I set the volume to max and checked every setting I could find related to phone calls. I even went into the service menu and did the speaker tests. There I realized that the speaker phone is using a different speaker as the one that is used to play back music or other sounds. The same sound sample is used in the tests and it is much softer in the speaker phone test compared to the mono or stereo speaker tests.
Is there any hack, setting or configuration file change I can do to use the mono or stereo speaker for the speaker phone feature?
Please help, this is the only gripe with this fine phone I have.
Same problem here.
Solutions, anyone?

Is anyone else upset about the low volume while on a call. Is there anyway to change it? Or modify etc/path.XML. just need a little boost not much. Already using viper and dual audio speaker mod so those don't seem to help at all as they don't control the ear piece. I'm rooted on latest pure nexus.
I actually sometimes put in-call volume too high and it hurts my ear unless I hold the phone away an inch or two because it's too loud.
I have WiFi calling turned on, and voice privacy off.
NO issue at all! It's call quality is great! Crystal clear and loud sound!
Perhaps the dual speaker mod affected call volume in some way? I don't have that mod but do have V4A. No issues with call volume.
Hmm, probably the ROM. Cause this phone has the best call quality I have ever experienced, and too loud, and look where I live! Including them old Nokias and Motorolas and BlackBerries.
