They are releasing a new Willdfire S (which is quite a lot like the Legend) with Gingerbread!

Let's just hope they share the same drivers. I can't wait untill the Wildfire S release. Did anyone else find the 2011 lineup from HTC very dissapointing?

I agree with the (slightly) disappointing line up. On the otherhand they are all nice devices and I would pick one anyday over a Samsung or LG. Some dual core android HTC shift-esque action with honeycomb would be definitely be welcome though.

Although that facebook buttons spoils everything for me
Still, it will be interesting to see if sense 2.0 will be possible to be ported and run on Legend with reasonable performance (Wildfire and Salsa have 512 of RAM - I think, this might make a difference).

Personally, I'm a little disappointed with HTC's offerings. And while I love my Aria, I think my next phone will be an Atrix. I love Cyanogen, so finegrs crossed it gets some love from the devs!

FACEBOOK button!?!?! When the hell did a freakin website get privileged enough to get a damn dedicated button on a cell phone??

judging by its similar specs to our legend, i'm very sure our talented chef will ported to our phones very soon. besides, gingerbread is already available to us through cyanogenmod7. fingers crossed and waiting for it. =)

But where can I find tools to port the Facebook button?...

The fact that Facebook got so integrated with todays society somehow really only gives me more doubts for humanity.

It all depends. If it has at least arm v7 instructions, then yes. If not, then there's flash lite.

HOV with Android 2.3.7?

Does anyone have heard about downgrading HOV to Android 2.3.7? Is that possible?

It's possible. But NO ONE will do it. It would mean reverse engineering almost all of the code. That's too much work. Why would you want to go back to gingerbread anyways? That's a major downgrade in software from 4.0. I see no point in it.

Very possible to do. There are some phones closely resembling hardware to ours, but some stuff would be tricky. Will someone actually work on it though is the question at hand. Everyone wants ICS+ these days.

lol it's been done twice...none have been released..

if i get a base i can port some fancy ROM

GB is nowhere near as smooth as ics/jb. Even my old hero have a smoother scroll in ICS than in GB. That being said, it will be so hard to make wifi, bluetooth and camera working, not to mention that we will need a kernel done from scratch and i am 1000% sure that maxwen doesn't want to do another one for us! Just be happy that you at least have 4.1.2 and in the future we will have 4.2!

Porting GB, I was thinking this the other day. Gingerbread on this would most likely be a fun Rom, as in nothing really working. It would be an accomplishment though.

2) I want GB because new games pisses me off, especially those from Gameloft... but there're some games form GL great times, e.g. Dungeon Hunter 2 or N.O.V.A. 2... last days I wanted to play Gangstar West Coast Hustle and Miami Vindication, but with no luck :/... I was thinking about Moder Combat 2 Black Pegasus, too, but I've found version working on ICS few months ago
But if no one likes to get back to old times sometimes, then we have no reasons to talk about that...

I'll be keeping mine for probably another year and a half.....but that's because it's suffice for my uses I mean, its not a bad phone if you don't use the hell out of it, play resource-demanding games, and you mod and tweak it

meaning its your personal preference ... If you use it mainly for texting and web browsing and the occasional mod (like me) then its perfectly sufficient, but if you do lots of gaming then go for a better phone. Completely up to you, depends on how you're gonna use it.

I'm quite satisfied with the arc S after using Arconium ICS 5.0 and KTG anzu 1.52 kernel,
I suppose... unless you plan to unlock bootloader, the experience might not be as good, but you can always opt to stay in Gingerbread cause usually new phones are on Gingerbread.

Depends how long you will have the phone for?
One year, Yes I would have it for a year... The new phones coming out within the year look amazing...
Two years, No, Newer games won't support gingerbread forever...
But mostly, its personal preference.

i'm currently using arc s and i hope it lasts long for many years, i don't play games often :laugh:

If you don't mind about other brands than samsung i suggest you use HTC Sensation XE. It's nice and have a better specs than ours. It has 1,5 ghz dual core processor and some usb otg if you are a fan of usb otg. Just search it on google about this amazing phone. And yes it is affordable
I choose this phone as a back up for my wonder if something happens to it, and yes it was stolen. So i change to this phone and it is awesome

My brother uses s2...is the better version of W...but still i dont think u will purchase it to use the same UI...but what can u say...it is getting jb...so its quite tricky to say if it gets a new UI with jb like s3...then i bet s2 would be great...

Its true that sony phone have a higher spec at a lower price. But have you tried one of those? Because i feel its quite laggy

You can check on sensation thread,arco's on sensation is bruce2728, cm 10 is 99% already perfect,redvilzz and i are using the same phone now and moved from wonder. And from those cm trees,came jellybam,pa,miui,aosp,aokp. Yet,i still having my wonder here,but for better attention, they have it on sensation
Really having hardtime for rooting,s-offing,bootlocker,but when your done,you can do whatever you want from touchrecovery,even flashing stockrom

True as dolly said, and thanks to his help for guiding me on choosing rom, kernel, rooting and etc. :cheers: to you mate. Anyway It is an awesome phone in the upper hand of wonder. Why i didn't choose s2 because the price is around 2 times expensive CMIIW then the sensation xe. Sensation XE is only around 1,2 / 1,3 times expensive and the specs is 'almost' like s2 only very different from the screen which is not AMOLED
And about the difficulty of rooting there are a lot to do to gain the ability to flash custom rom on this 'baby'
You need to unlock bootloader, root, s-off and etc.
It is all explained in the thread. FYI after what i've been through the S-Offing way is the most difficult one for me, but after you succeeded it's smooth sailing to change all rom.
And also there are many great and good dev there like arco's which is our man . Cheers to arco :beer:
Sensation thread is in xda, just search for htc sensation. The thread is a combined version with the sensation, sensation 4g, and sensation xe, almost all the roms are compatible with every variant of sensation.
For sony yes it is cheap and have more power but almost all low prices phone that i checked didn't have external capabilities and i know yes they are better from our wonder with a little cheaper prize but yeah no external sd card capabilities? That's a pain
Try googling and look on the specs man it will amaze you with the affordable price :thumbup:

And now I'm running on 4.2 JB custom rom from DKOSP, its very fast,faster than 4.1, not 100% perfect, but for my daily use like cam (almost all works (720 VC)),wifi,bluetooth,sound,vibration etc,and it has AOKP also to try

Actually I want to buy Galaxy Nexus, but.. it's officially wiped out from the list in the Indonesian phonespace.
So I'll have to wait for the next Samsung's newest flagship Android.

as for me, i believe in rumors about new samsung nexus with android 5.0 onboard..
if it becomes not larger than 4.5" and gets nice design (w\o that s***ty pseudo-chrome around) for example comparable with our wonder, i'd make my best to get it)

This is a difficult question...
Samsung? Well, they have lately been... 'less friendly' to the dev community, to the point that Team Hacksung has declared that they will end activities on Samsung phones.
HTC? They are openly hostile to the dev community, what with the locked bootloader, unlock limits, etc. etc. etc. Not to mention that their sales are declining fast.
Motorola? Same as HTC. Although, with a new owner (the mighty GOOG himself) situation *may* change.
Nexus? No SD Card slot, 'nuff said.
That leaves only Sony, which XDA Portal itself has commended to be the most dev-friendly brand. They even provide an official bootloader unlocking page, with a helpful link to the proper forum in XDA!
So, my next phone would very likely be a Sony.
Which model? Not sure yet... I'll cross the bridge when it's time to, and not sooner (in other words, we'll see what models are available in the next 6-9 months).

I go for Sony Xperia Z, But i dont like the battery not removable.

If I've much money now maybe I'll go to Xperia Z, but galaxy SIV specs is intriguing, with 1900mhz quadcore or 1600mhz octacore (or whatever its called, its had more than 4 cores) depending on the regions. :eek

how to play HD games with just a little lag

hello everyone...
I know some old tricks that may helps our Galaxy Y Plays HD games with better performance and just have a little bit of lag. i hope this could be usefull. check it out!
-first, we need ChainFire 3D and the plugins. you can download this app for free on Play Store or buy it for full version. and download the plugin » http://www1.datafilehost.com/d/7d5bb3af
on the first time, you'll have to install the CF3D EGL Driver and ur phone will automaticly reboot. and then if the chainfire3D app dissapear, don't worry... just install it again.
open it and select the Qualcomm plugin. and fix market.
and then select the "Per app Graphics setting" not the default settings one, Choose unroll texture to 16bit and hide the CF3D from the Proc List (Just in case)
-[if you are not familiar with Scripts, u can skip this step] Before using Ram manager, you can use the V6 SuperCharger Script and Adrenaline engine script. search this in XDA. i recommend you to combine the V6 with Ram manager Pro.

open this app, choose the "Hard Gaming" mode, and choose the swap file to 8 MB only.
-Then, if you have some money, you can buy "GameBooster 2" in Play Store. it's a very usefull app. just select the Ultra Gaming mode (it's battery Drainer) and at the Extra tab, tick the SDcard tweaks. Voila...
And I'd tested this trick in my phone and guess what? I can play Temple Run 2 ARMv6 smoothly! And i can play Temple Run Oz for ARMv6 and Temple Run, Inotia 4 with just bit of lags only!

*The HD games for ARMv6 needs to be patched from ARMv7 to ARMv6 Apk to run properly in our phone. So, google it. Like NOVA 3, Temple Run, and even GTA III.

Maybe, I'll post the video later... I'm in an exam so there's no time for that at this moment. And, read the OP 1 more time. I said, if you have much money, you can buy the "Pro" app and support the dev. So, if you wanna get more features, buy the app... I have the CF3D Pro and i don't want to share it here cuz it's illegal here. So if the free CF3D can't give you the "Per-app Grapichs setting" well, buy the pro app. It's worth it... Really.

If u combine so many tweaks the results will be random reboots and a buggy phone
And btw u cannot just take a hd game and play it this way... U need a modified game for it not just ported.... So the way to play hd games isnt common.for all games...
Btw v6 supercharger isnt made to enhance gaming... It is suppoaed to be used to reduce lag in ui...

so the real lesson here is:
know your device's limitations,
you get what you paid for,
why on earth would you expect a ENTRY-LEVEL SMARTPHONE to run good games anyways
we have a ENTRY-LEVEL SMARTPHONE and no proper development except in gingerbread,
so please don't expect too much,
to be honest i dont play HD games on my phone since i know it cannot handle then and forcing it will result to worse cases

Bty there are many cool games which run ob our devuce glawlessly if u want to play some games when u r bored and they dont need cf3d or anything... Jyst a good kernel ( ie non stock)

^ yeah, we have this smartphone to play games on the go, to entertain ourself... It's annoying when we want to play games while we are on the go and we don't have much money to get S4 or Grand or something High-end. So, we got this phone, and no matter of what, we want to play something good in this phone. And the educating games like Where's my Perry and Cut the Rope don't really play nicely in our phone, so i'll give you sollutions to improve our gaming experience. And, you know.... Not everybody as rich as you, to get a new smartphone...

Yeah, but you'll not gonna like it. If you have lots of money, why don't you change your phone into something High-End phone for gaming. Like S3 Mini or Galaxy Wonder?

Bty there are many cool games which run ob our devuce glawlessly if u want to play some games when u r bored and they dont need cf3d or anything... Jyst a good kernel ( ie non stock)

i just play Pokemon on gameboid (GBA Emulator) or flow.
my girlfriend plays jewel deluxe,
in the next week i'll finally have my nexus 7,
i'm so excited

yup we got our money's worth,
the ratio is 1 S3 = 5 SGY (well atleast in my country)

I've really decided to get the nexus 7 instead of a phone,
I mean litterally i need a portable gaming and multimedia device also another device to enhance my android theming skills, i don't even know how to make a cm7 apk theme from scratch,
I have my sgy and it fits it's purpose as a great phone (call, text, music, mild gaming).
So i set on the practicallity of what i truly needed, My sgy will stay until it's 2nd anniversary
But on the HOX vs s3,
If you want a beautiful and well constructed phone go for one x, (one x is basically a iphone running on android with locked versatility like sd slot and replacable batt)
If you want a versatile and flexible multi-functional phone vs build quality, go with s3 but it's not made of polycarbonate and pure aluminum like one x

Even now i use 2 phones
And i herd one x has a bad battry life and has a hardware bug related to wify connectivity ...? No i ruled out s3 for various reasons..
